So I'll start by saying the 65 inch LG B4 is a good tv, however, in my case it is surprisingly and unfortunately a downgrade from my previous lg oled, the 55 inch B8 (2018 B series from LG) in all, but size.Let me try to explain,I can remember the process of buying the B8 and everything i read about it basically said that it was good, but not quite as good as the C8. So when i read very similar things about the new B4 vs the C4, i thought "so its the same as back in 2019 when i bought my B8".Incorrect!The B8 looked beautiful to me, my new B4 on the other hand has much worse low quality upscaling while watching cable tv and there is some pretty bad macroblocking as well. Also the tvs brightness in dolby vision is very dim and really ruins the home theater ... MoreSo I'll start by saying the 65 inch LG B4 is a good tv, however, in my case it is surprisingly and unfortunately a downgrade from my previous lg oled, the 55 inch B8 (2018 B series from LG) in all, but size.Let me try to explain,I can remember the process of buying the B8 and everything i read about it basically said that it was good, but not quite as good as the C8. Also the tvs brightness in dolby vision is very dim and really ruins the home theater experience for me. Apart from that the B4 is fine.So i would say if its your first oled tv you might think its great, but as i said in my case its a downgrade which i did not expect.I did contact LG about exchanging it for the C4 within the 15 day return period and it was made clear that LG doesn't do exchanges, but that i could return it and then buy the C4, but that i would have to pay a 15% restocking fee.The restocking fee coupled with the fact that if i did choose to return it and then buy the C4 meant i wouldn't get the promotion on the C4 that i did on the b4 because that coupon had already expired made me decide to just keep it and accept that im stuck with it.Still this is my mistake, not LGs. I made the assumption that i already knew what I was getting in to with the B4 because of past experiences with my older LG B series oled. And i knew id have trouble returning it if i didnt like it.Still it would be nice if LG could offer a similar return policy like other retailers do.Anyway, moral of the story is, believe all the reviews that say the C4 is worth a few hundred more and im pretty sure, (without having owned a C4) that you'll end up happier than i did.

This is our 2nd OLED from LG - this time to replace our ageing 6-year-old TV in the lounge. Although considered the entry-level model, don't let that tagline fool you; this TV offers astonishing picture quality. Our first OLED made us watch all our favourite movies again (a strong litmus test for the picture quality). The 2024 model is no different, with our two little ones now refusing to watch their shows on any other telly in the house. Our 6-year-old TV was a heavy, chunky 50" beast with a thick protruding border around the screen. This 65" OLED is slimmer, lighter, and far more petite than it has a right to for its size, thanks to its borderless screen edge. Design-wise it is a thing of beauty and remarkably unobtrusive considering its size. This 65" OLED is slimmer, lighter, and far more petite than it has a right to for its size, thanks to its borderless screen edge. Design-wise it is a thing of beauty and remarkably unobtrusive considering its size. Saying that, we did note that as a stand mount it did not fit on our TV unit at all. The stands are positioned at the end of each side of the telly meaning you need a pretty wide TV unit to stand this on. It was only a short-term problem for us as we've since wall-mounted it-but it is something to be aware of if your primary decision is the stand mount option for your room.If planning to attach the TV to the wall, consideration should be taken to the type of wall bracket purchased. The HDMI 3 (eARC/ARC) connection in particular is located on the back of the TV-along with the HDMI 4, optical digital out and LAN-instead of at the side. This can be a pain to access and/or use with a fixed slim mount or flush wall mount. Ensure you have a right-angle adapter or cable if exploring this mount option to avoid any frustrations. At < 20 kgs this TV is very light for its size - which does help eliminate any anxiety around attempting a wall mount without the worry of it falling off. (It was so light I was able to wall mount this on my own with minimal effort). If burn-in is one of your worries then the good news is this is becoming far less of a concern these days. Our 2022 model was quite aggressive in the way it handled this problem with the screen saver coming on almost immediately on non-use. The 2024 model has adopted a far more relaxed approach to none use-to the point that my aforementioned anxiety was triggered quite a few times during the first 2 weeks of use when I noticed my screen was still showing a paused movie instead of the customary screen saver after popping out to make a cup of coffee. If LG are less concerned about burn-in, then so should you be.Overall a great purchase.

This TV replaced another brand, a quantum dot Q60 50" TV. The Q60 lasted 3 years and 8 months, yes I know this only had a 1 year warranty, but is 3 years 8 months really fit for purpose? Reading other reviews I found there were lots of people having issues with the Q60, based on that I decided I needed to switch brand. As the OLED prices have dropped, I decided to review these. Checking reviews I could find no viable difference with the LG OLED B42 vs B46 so went for the B42. A lot of reviews I found detailed that brightness was not as good as other type of TV, this nearly put me off, but having purchased I'm not sure why brightness is an issue, as this TV is bright enough for me, I've had to turn this down.I use this set to watch TV with Freesat and Freeview, and ... MoreThis TV replaced another brand, a quantum dot Q60 50" TV. The home menu is also far better than the Q60.TV channels that broadcast old programmes in SD, upscaling to larger format is quite good.HD broadcasts - Great picture.4K input - Wow.After tweaking settings for my preferences, I have to say OLED is so much better than anything I've owned before. A test for me although you could say is pointless is the credits at the end of a programme, my old OLED was jittery and these weren't clear, this TV is great at motion smoothing and that's with True Motion switched off.Sound - Can't advise as I use a basic sound bar rather than the TV speakers, the good thing though is I can now use the soundbar in Bluetooth mode, I couldn't do that before with the Q60 as every time you turned on the TV you would have to change the TV settings to output to the Bluetooth speaker, this TV auto finds the speaker on start up. The benefit hear for me is that the Freesat remote and TV remote both adjust the same volume, rather than a separate Freesat and TV volume setting. The remote is very well balanced, I find a lot of remote are heavy and one end and always fall of the sofa, but this one is great.I also have a WDCloud with a Twonky media player, the TV finds the Twonky Media Player automatically, big relief as I could not find any reviews that said media players work with this TV.One week in, and I'm so pleased with this TV, best picture I've ever had and all external devices play ok.Two minor niggles,1) Freesat box will not turn on via Arc HDMI, but it turns off.2) Bluetooth sound bar will not turn off with the TV, but it turns on. (The speaker turns off after 15 minutes of no input so not a deal breaker).

The LG OLED 65B42LA is an amazing TV, sure to please all but the most demanding buyers. The very good brightness, HDR makes it well-suited to watching anything, from TV content to the latest hit movies in HDR. It has superb reflection handling, and with its good peak brightness, the TV can handle bright rooms or glare without issue. But like almost every OLED on the market, it's better suited for a dark room, where its OLED panel, with its deep inky blacks, truly performs at its best. Its very low input lag makes it a gamer's dream, as your inputs are translated almost instantaneously to the screen, and its superb response time makes it a great choice for any fans of fast-moving content, be it sports or games, as action stays clear and crisp throughout. As soon as I hooked up my console to the LG 65B42LA , which does support 4K 120Hz – I loaded up some games and noticed an immediate difference in the picture quality. It was night and day. Textures, light, colors are more realistic. You may think these differences are relatively minor, but they made my gaming experience that much more immersive and, ultimately, more enjoyable The TV also supports DTS, making it a fantastic choice for your home entertainment center, in combination with the LG soundbar and the WOW orchestra option you feel like you are in a movie or a game because the sound surrounds you from every side.
This is a great TV if you have a degree in tuning TV's. The lg b4 has a multitude of settings, too many. I guarantee that you'll be looking at YouTube for advice on the best settings for it and even then you won't be happy. It's a 4k ultra set which is great if you're watching 4k ultra footage, but if not then the footage will be appalling unless you change the settings again. Why on earth they're making TVs this complicated to have a decent picture I don't know. My old Hisense I bought in 2016 was a good set and a lot less complicated to use and get a decent picture.
Coming from a TV with a simple straightforward set of menus that were easy to navigate to WebOs3 was a disappointing shock. Use of a "mouse" that can be described as inaccurate at best to point at small icons lacks common sense. "Just because you can does not mean you should" is so applicable to this OS. Why do I have to navigate via the tv guide through filters to change an input?? There is an input button on the remote but you cannot change from Freesat to Freeview through that despite the fact they are different "inputs". Daft. I have yet to find any aspect of the WebOs that improves on more basic, less pretty, but fundamentally better text based menus. I have yet to find any aspect of the WebOs that improves on more basic, less pretty, but fundamentally better text based menus. The developers are writing these things for tech savvy folk and ignoring the people who hate tech and just want to watch a picture with sound. I know many elderly people that simple could not cope with this OS, maybe LG should offer a choice of simple but effective menus or a full graphic UI at the time of setup. As far as doing what a TV needs to do is concerned, the Picture is awesome after you have tuned it to your eyes and environment, the sound is good, again this needs some tweaking to suit the room and ears of the users. Neither easy tasks with the WebOS and mouse.
Very happy with the TV once setup. Out of the box the settings for sd looked awful to me, but thankfully adjusting them gives a very good result especially when you consider what it is having to do.This is the first oled tv I have had and compared to the previous lg nanocell the image is a big, big improvement. Two complaints (minor for me).1) the power cable is hardwired. This might not matter to most but I wall mount mine and all cables go through bristle sockets. The 2 pin extended cable for the previous lg i had bought couldn't be usedand i had to cut the plug off and join a cable. Not a problem but annoying to have to do it in the first place. (There is a small panel that can be removed but I'm not sure if this invalidates the warranty)2) content ... MoreVery happy with the TV once setup. (There is a small panel that can be removed but I'm not sure if this invalidates the warranty)2) content recorded on an external drive is not accessible, despite being from an lg tv. Content is recognised but tv refuses to play it, stating it is locked to the original tv. I'm not sure if this can be resolved and haven't been too concerned to try, but this might be a bigger issue for others. So I would take half a mark off for these issues, but can't :-)
At-home movie nights are a big part of our household, and this TV has taken them to a whole new level! The picture quality and color are truly unmatched. It’s so clear and vibrant, making our movie-watching and video-game experience so much better. The super thin profile gives a really sleek vibe, and I love how the screen has little to no glare. The Always Ready feature is a favorite, allowing us to display screensavers like art pieces and motions. I particularly love this because we host events and dinners frequently, and it’s great to turn our TV into a piece of decor when needed. I do wish you could slow down how fast it cycles through the art gallery you choose, though. Some settings were also a little frustrating to set up, forcing us to pair the LG remote ... MoreAt-home movie nights are a big part of our household, and this TV has taken them to a whole new level! Some settings were also a little frustrating to set up, forcing us to pair the LG remote with our other Smart Home devices even though we kept selecting “decline.” Overall, this is a really great TV with a ton of incredible features! I was looking for a new smart TV for family movie nights. My family’s favorite way to unwind after a long week is to make some popcorn and watch a movie. We use various streaming platforms so wanted a TV that was easy to navigate with good visual effects and sound quality. The LG OLED65B4 Smart TV proved to be the answer. The features absolutely blew me away - from the ease of setup, the 4K quality visuals with crisp colors and the superb sound, movie nights have taken on a whole new atmosphere. It feels like we have our own movie theater in our living room. Also, I love the extra features included like the option to use the mouse on the remote or not, the ability to interact and connect to Alexa, and the ability to download art from museums turning the tv into a ... MoreI was looking for a new smart TV for family movie nights. It even has an eye care mode! Such thoughtful features and LG really thought of everything. Highly recommend! Review submitted as part of a program providing a purchase discount.
The tv has a noticeable amount of judder, and the feature to reduce judder sometimes creates unnatural smoothness to motion. The max brightness sometimes seems low even in a dark room, and the tv has too many "smart" features that are actually dumb and annoying. Depending on your settings, the brightness will automatically fluctuate, so the image will suddenly become dark or bright, and it can be difficult to figure out how to stop that. The dark black level works well in dark scenes. All of the AI enhancements to image and sound are useless gimmicks. The sound on the tv is just ok, consider getting some speakers or a sound bar or headphones. I don't recommend it as a PC monitor. It's ok for PC gaming but you have to figure out the settings or else it will behave ... MoreThe tv has a noticeable amount of judder, and the feature to reduce judder sometimes creates unnatural smoothness to motion. It's ok for PC gaming but you have to figure out the settings or else it will behave strangely. The HDR was switching on and off rapidly and I'm still not sure if I solved it but I think the auto HDR in the PC settings needs to be on. The desktop background leaves a noticeable temporary burn in after less than a minute, it goes away soon but it's a bit worrisome. I never notice it in games. I wouldn't recommend this tv to people who want it to just work without having to adjust settings. Otherwise, it's decent
