When our old Hoover top loader washing machine died recently we needed to find a replacement quickly to fit into quite a tight space. We looked at another brand that was 5kg but when we saw the LG with the larger capacity of 7.5kg & excellent reviews & awards we decided to purchase it. The fact that there is no central agitator was another draw card & we love this feature. No more tangled clothes. The filters are also very easy to clean & pick up a lot of lint. The only thing we miss is that we're unable to just do a final rinse & spin if we do hand washing that we could do on our old machine. Ah the price of more advanced technology. We had excellent customer service from Luigi at Midland Good Guys. I've had this machine since May 2021. It replaced the previous LG model. You will be disappointed with this machine compared to the performance of its predecessor. The clothes come out tangled. If you have ties or ribbons, even worse. The filters, I note lots of brands now have the same, are USELESS. Doesn't matter if you clean each and every load, if you have persons with long hair, the filters pick up NONE. You'll notice the hair when you're handing out the washing and when you clean the filter, there is no hair. The cycles are unrealistic. For a full load, the minimum wash is 18 minutes. This is way too long. Each wash on a high water level takes an hour. I don't have an hour for one load and I don't need 18 minutes of wash time. When I had to replace my washing machine, I wasn't looking for anything special. Just a machine that was compact enough to fit through the narrow laundry door, that would do a good job and wasn't too expensive.I chose a 7.5kg LG top load washer with the see through glass lid. I wasn't too keen on this feature initially but now I love being able to see that everything is operating as it should during the wash cycle. I have been blown away by the quality and performance of this budget-priced machine. The bowl is very spacious, I can control all the settings depending on the size and nature of the load, the filters are easy to dismount and clean, the machine is really stable on the floor and doesn't rattle the windows when spinning like my other machines used to, and ... MoreWhen I had to replace my washing machine, I wasn't looking for anything special. I have given 3 Stars for the LG Customer Service Team. No stars for the washing machine. I am extremely dissatisfied with this machine, which I bought in February to replace my 10 year old LG top loader, which washed beautifully! The new machine washed the clothes Yes! But left fluff and lint over everything, especially the dark colours. I contacted LG and expressed my disappointment in the machine which I had only had for 8 months, cleaning filters every wash, did a tub clean after every 2nd wash, changed from powder to liquid soap, nothing worked! Unfortunately the new machine washes a little better but still leaves lint everywhere. I was told that to get the good water and Electricity ratings, they have reduced the water levels and spin to the minimum. Too bad If you have to wash your clothes twice to get them clean! Not efficient at all! Sorry LG disappointed again!

While this machine washes as well as my 10 year old model it replaced, it is no longer a breeze to use and has some some new features that had I known about, I might not have bought it. With the older model you could leave the lid open while the machine filled with water and pour in your liquid detergent. The new model will not do this, you have to close the lid in order for it to fill. there is no liquid dispenser, it simply says to pour into the tub having diluted it - very messy. The tub on the older model slowly rotated as it filled with water, evenly wetting the clothes and distributing the detergent, the new one just sits in one spot. The fabric softener dispenser has changed, and is now too small to take a full dose of sanitizing rinse. Several wash cycle options have been removed - namely the "jeans" wash cycle that I used regularly. It can still be achieved by customizing every setting, but this is painfull!!

Over all - we prefer our previous machine - unfortunately The Good Guys didn't have the Fisher Paykel model in stock that we required - so the LG was plan B. Sadly! Issues1. - The clothes aren't as dry as we would achieve in the Fisher Paykel 2. - The FP was easy to simply open the lid to add some more items to the wash - not so with the Lg! Opening the lid pauses the machine - then you gotta wait for the slow soft close lid to reseat, then push pause, then push play again. Whilst doing this though, we are entertained by the musical sounds of dexcending arpeggio for pausing, and an upward arpeggio for replaying. Hmmmmm3. - The FP had a soak function - not so the Lg. If the pause is activated for too long to allow a soak (how long is 'too long' is unknown) the machine turns itself off and needs to be started again in order to complete the wash4. - It doesn't seem to be designed to use washing liquid efficiently or if it is, it's a strange and inefficient method.Overall it seems that there's too much computer and not enough washing machine - it certainly doesn't seem to have been designed by someone who has much experience washing clothes.Apart from that - it washes relatively okay, which is why we still have it - just too expensive for all that we aren't happy with. Sad that the Fisher Paykel was not available - in hindsight we should have gone elsewhere to find what we wanted. Next time!

We purchased the LG washer because of the reviews . I was replacing a 5.5 Simpson which Id had for Ren years . Pros..My main reason for the 7.5k was so I could wash doonas . Its large straight forward and the glass see through lid a bit different , not that I plan to watch it wash . It dose a clean wash and I need less wash detergent maybe because of the no agitator Its very quiet which is nice if your laundry is close to your living area Cons the dark panel with washing options is hard to read without glasses . The short cycle is 30 minutes but you can only wash a small load ! The doona cycle takes over 1.5 hours . They are a bit flimsy too.The sales man at The Good guys was lovely and the delivery men were very nice and courteous, they installed and took my old machine away .

If the intention by the manufacturer is to save water and the machine "senses" the weight of the clothes and dictates the water level, then that is a failure......because now I have to do 2 separate washes when normally I would do one, which really is a waste of water and no saving at all. I have read reviews on the LG website and this level issue is not an isolated one....I will not be happy until this problem is fixed.....why have levels 4 5 and 6 on the panel if you can't us them......very unsatisfactory design. Thank you.

overall good, lint filters poorly designed
3 March 2023

the washer works well and is very quiet. Also has a relatively low profile with door open making it suitable for under a wall-mounted dryer. The lint traps are a dumb design that look like they will soon be broken and I won't have the option of replacing with a stocking like my last LG. There are 2 little round disks in the middle of the wall of the drum. You have to squeeze 2 small tabs to pull them out so this is not a viable choice for anyone with short arms, arthritis or hand mobility, fine motor, or weakness issues. Then inside the disk there is a tiny lint chamber that you have to flip open and dig out the lint. It's a nuisance and has to be done every load as they are so small and quicky blocked. Meh.
