I ordered this product after extensive research online. This gravity purifier is the best one on the market in its class. The website was very informative and easy to use. Delivery was quick and the purifier was packaged well. I purchased it for emergency use and not for routine camping use, so I have not had a chance to use it yet. But, I did examine it when I received it and the materials and build quality are great!

I've enjoyed using LifeStraw individual water filters for hiking trips and emergencies. Now I am excited to have used and will be prepared for more trips and/or emergencies with the Gravity system. LifeStraw has made it easy to pack this system into hiking gear, as the bladder rolls up fairly thinly, and the hose takes up minimal space in a backpack. Getting adept at using for the first time took some effort, so I highly recommend practicing at home for the first time before getting out into the wild after a long hike and trying to set up camp while figuring out the system. It is not difficult, but nice to know what should be done. The bladder fills easily by unscrewing the cap over the filter and submerging the whole thing into a nearby stream or lake. Then the ... This water purifying system is perfect for those who like to camp and don't want to bring water with them. It is also great to have around the house in case something happens to drinking water. Easy to set up and use. Can provide clean drinking water for the whole family for a year. Can filter water directly into a drinking glass or a bottle. So happy to have this system on hand!

A little complicated at first for a novice, but then easy to use. The directions were a bit confusing until I realized that some of the pieces were already attached rather than missing. Customer service was quick to respond and very polite. Filling up the bag is not difficult. However, it is quite heavy once filled. You can hang the bag from the strap or the carabiner. The length of tubing used to go from the bag to the filter seems exceptionally long and makes closing the bag a bit cumbersome as well as using the bag since the the tubing has to hang completely straight in order for water to come out. If you are outdoors using this product (as most people would be) you must have a high place in which to hang the bag to make using it easy; otherwise you'll be on the ... If you are outdoors using this product (as most people would be) you must have a high place in which to hang the bag to make using it easy; otherwise you'll be on the ground trying to get water out. Additionally, the water comes out of the filter at a very slow pace! I'm sure this is to filter out impurities, but don't expect a gush of water if you are dehydrated. You need to plan ahead when needing water. Lastly, while the filter does an insanely good job of filtering, the tiny sip of water I tried tasted HORRIBLE. I'm not sure if this was because a few liters of water need to be run through the filter and then the water will taste fine (like you do with fridge filters) or if that's the way the water always tastes after being filtered. More testing needed. I While the water bottle attachment seemed handy, I did not test its ease of use. The directions do give a tip about making it easier to use which is appreciated. The bag is super heavy duty as are all of the pieces included so it will be able to take some rough use. Overall, I recommend this product for outdoor enthusiasts, but not for outdoor novices.
Are you the type that loves to explore but don't like to carry extra weight in your backpack like myself? Do you love drinking water and feeling like there is nothing to worry about? I'm your typical out door kind of girl one who loves water and drinks it all day. As an overlander in a capable vehicle, I frequently find myself for many days in areas where potable water is unavailable. This filter virtually eliminates any water anxieties as long as some body of water is nearby, an eventuality for which one can normally plan. It is constructed extremely well, I can carry it to and from the water source over my shoulder with the strap, thus permitting me to carry a second bladder of raw water to filter back at camp after the first one finishes. If you’re a backpacker, this might not be your ideal option because of its size unless you’re with a group, but for my purposes, I frankly wouldn’t consider any substitute. This filter it’s fast, effective, and tough as nails. Thanks for an excellent product.
I have been using this in Mexico since tap water here is not potable. I think it does take a little bit to learn how to use it, but once you get the hang of it, its fine. The tube is a bit long, you need a branch or hook about 6-7 feet off the ground in order for it to work properly. Lastly, the first liter of water every time I filter always has an off taste, like a plasticly taste, but I usually just dump it out and then drink the last 7 liters from the filter.I filter it all at once, but if you are only filtering it when you need it, the bad taste may show up.I am happy with my purchase, but I do not think I would recommend it to the average person in my situation. I am happy to report that I have not been sick at all from drinking the water though.
This thing works great. Not only does it filter quickly but it's built stronger than the other gravity bag filters while being versatile in use. You can fill it easily then transport a full bag without a sweat, plus it hangs from strong connections and the filter back flushes to extend it's life AND it can kill viruses. We filtered over 30 gallons of cistern and hydrant water ( nasty stuff ) and it never slowed down. Hang it so the tip of the hose extends all the way to a few feet off the ground and the pull of the water speeds the flow rate. It actually makes the water taste great making for better coffee. It rolls up neatly and stows in a ruck without fear of being torn or cut. While not a light weight it can serve 5 or so people quickly making up for hefty ... MoreThis thing works great. It's going to get a work out this summer but I think it will come through without a hitch.
I was stoked to get this filter for traveling in South America. However I was blown away with how slow it was to get a liter. Maybe I was doing something wrong but it seems straight forward and the directions are easy. That said I can’t say I would recommend it to anyone. It also is quite bulky and difficult to drain all the water entirely out of when packing up camp. The filter technology is great I’m sure, but you might die of dehydration water for water, Especially if you have to use it in a spot where the hang isn’t fully perfect. I would recommend a pump system.
I have owned several different gravity water filters and this is by far the worst. It has so many flaws. First, the filter clogged on the 3rd use and despite efforts to use the syringe to clean it, it was unworkable. Not great on 1st day to backpack trip. Second, it's hard to fill through the opening (relatively minor inconvenience). Third, because the opening is also the filter connection, it forms a vacuum as it drains and you can't allow air to get in further slowing the flow. There are many other gravity filter options that perform better.
