After testing this product and others I've bought with tap water, I have found the taste of the "filtered" water to be terrible and worse than what comes from the tap. 2 products produce same results. Please advise on return for all I've purchased or supply a reason why taste is so awful.

Bottom line: filters but does so slowly. So far I've used this filter for a 6+ day canoe trip and a 3 day canoe trip. The first time I used it to filter 8L the flow rate was pretty good, and it filled the clean bladder within the advertised time. But the second time I filtered 8L the flow rate reduced to a trickle. I tried back flushing the filter but didn't notice an improvement in flow rate. After getting home, I couldn't get the filter to return to the fast flow I experienced the first time I used it. Assuming some error on my part or the product, I ordered another filter but had a similar experience (the first filtration was quick, but the flow rate slowed way down during subsequent filters). Back flushing seemed to improve the flow marginally but the clean bladder was still taking 60+ minutes to fill. The water I'm filtering isn't murky. 3 stars because if you're patient enough and have the time, this filter will get the job done, it's tough, and well-designed to carry.

I field tested a free 8L+8L setup given to me by the company to use while dry camping on Canyon Ferry Lake in Montana. Setup was a breeze, very intuitive and I didn't even need the setup instructions. I gathered water from a nearby creek feeding the lake, which was pretty clear to start with. Filling the dirty water bag was a bit awkward kneeling creekside due to the steep bank and I could only manage to get about 6L of water into the bag even with it completely submerged. I decided to wade into the creek to get a better angle and this worked so much better to get it completely full. I suspended the bag from a nearby tree with the clean catchment bag tethered directly below. The full 8L of water completely filtered in under 19 minutes, which meant the end product ... The shoulder strap made for easy transport back to camp and cleaning/storing the bags once empty was very easy due to the large fill ports.LifeStraw hit another home-run with this product, I look forward to using it for years to come!

Me and my family have been loving this water filter system from LifeStraw Peak Series, and yes, I do highly recommend this amazing water system to everyone.
I got this as a gift for my daughter and her husband. They live out west near the mountains are very frequent campers. Some times out of their car, some times a tent, and often head out with just what they can carry in their backpacks. Imagine how heavy all the water is! This product looks like it will be very useful. Storage and filtering...They will be able to start out with drinking water and have the ability to filter as much as needed. This thing will filter out more impurities than my expensive filter system I have at my house. Gotta also give kudos to a company who will commit to giving clean water to children in need for every purchase.
I had previously gotten the small life straw for use in hiking which I really liked because it is very useful and you can carry a lot less weight. But now I have upgraded to the large life straw because I started taking my dog with me while hiking and now I can have clean water for both of us whenever needed. This water filtration setup is amazing and very easy to use. It is also very compact and easy to pack and use. And it can truly be a lifesaver in a emergency. But I use it all the time just for the convenience.you can't go wrong with any of the life straw products
I have been using the LifeStraw Peak Series Gravity Water Filter System and it works so well. My family goes canoe-camping on the river. This system is the perfect answer to not having to carry extra water along. I trust the LifeStraw brand, it filters the water very well. The nice thing about this system is that it come with an extra 8L storage bag so it is so easy to filter all the water we need for a trip. I would recommend this system to anyone who loves outdoor activities.

I've relied on LifeStraw for years and the Gravity Water Filter System is perfect for ensuring plenty of filtered water is available. The directions are very easy to follow & the water flows well through the filter. While it folds for easy packing, the 8L bag ensures there's plenty of water available for my family saving trips to the water source. The bag itself is very strong & I'm very confident that it can withstand anything I may do to it. Knowing clean water is available brings me peace of mind & this gravity water filter system is ideal.
I have super nasty hard tap water here, its so bad that even my poor fridge can't keep up! So i decided to give this a shot. I mean what could i loose except the nasty metal taste in the water. My first test was my picky pooch, He usually puts his nose up unless it's Bottled water. He went right to his bowl and was drinking it like crazy! Then i tried it on the other half who asked where did this water come from and was it my usual bottled water. So I had to try it myself. Sure enough no nasty taste or flavor of metal. My only concern is 500 gallons isn't a lot. is there a way to change the filter inside, if so where do i get them.
