I have been using chain saws for over half my life. Just bought a $300.00+ saw for the constant trim work around the property. OK, so bought this saw to take in the Jeep when we hit the mountains. I thought it would be good to use to cut branches that would scrape the Jeep. On a recent ride came across two beetle kill pines that had fallen across trail. These pines were about a foot thick....cut them both about 3/4 way thru and snapped them in half with a tow strap tied to the Jeep. The saw was awesome. Light, compact, much easier than using a hand saw (which I also had) battery lasted the entire week we were in mountains and was used almost daily. Thinking of this item for some of my friends and my sons for Christmas. I recommend.

I bought this to saw up yard waste and to trim thicker stems from bushes. Prior to this purchase, I used either a hand saw or an electric chain saw. The hand saw was slow and tiring while the chain saw was heavy and cumbersome. This B&D reciprocating saw overcomes both of these issues. Cuts through everything I want to cut with no effort and does so without an extension cord. As for battery life, I haven't used it long enough to challenge the battery but I know from my other B&D battery operated yard tools (weed whip and blower) that the 20v battery lasts long enough on a single charge to accomplish anything I care to do in one effort.

I had to trim a half dozen branches off a crabapple tree. The branches varied from 2 to 4 inches. When first shopping, I checked out several saws. The saws used by construction workers are fabulous, but cost two to three times more money. One professional grade saw sold just the battery pack for a lot more than this everything included saw. I am just a gardener that wants to occasionally trim some bushes and tree branches. I hadn't been impressed with a B&D product I bought a few years ago, but I must say that this is an excellent product and really sells for an excellent price compared to other brands. I also bought a set of 5 or 6 additional 9" blades advertised to sell with this saw. Unless you are a construction worker that uses this type of saw every day, this will do the job rally well.
Currently using this saw to help replace some rotted wood around my house. For rough cutting through good, solid wood (not just the crumbly rotted parts), saw is performing very well. Again, these types of saws are for rough cutting because the blade kerf is somewhat wide and the reciprocating action is rather violent and causes the blade to jump around a bit, even when the saw is tightly held and controlled. But if you need to quickly cut out pieces of wood or make clean cuts of pvc pipe (use a guide or jig to ensure straight cuts of pvc), then this saw performs very well. Highly recommend.
I'm a 72 year old, 112 lb. grandmother, and bought this for myself! Merry Christmas to me, lol. I can't use hubby's chain saw, too heavy. This worked perfectly for me. I bought a variety pack of saw blades to use with it, along with some safety goggles, put on my heavy boots and gloves, and sawed up a large pile of downed limbs with it. I couldn't cut through some of the larger limbs, but it managed 3 to 3 1/2 inch limbs with no issues, and even a few a bit larger than that, though larger ones took more work and time to cut through them. I'll save the rest of the larger ones for my husband to use the chain saw on. It's easy to operate, but I read the instructions several times first, as well as watching a YouTube video for this product. The battery lasted much longer than I thought it would, though it did take several hours to recharge it again. I would highly recommend it for limbs and lighter projects.
I've sculpted 15 trees, while mowing our 5 acres. You'll need some extra batteries, I recommend three. This saw is worth more than it costs, tough and durable. I attest to this saw ending stupid, useless, forgotten 3-inch schedule 40 steel pipes partially buried in the yard, determined to break lawnmower blades and/or eject the driver. Yeah, ones like that, this baby will put it in it's place, 4 feet underground, when equipped with the proper steel cutting blade that is. Enjoy.
Great saw for pruning. Use a pruning blade and you are good to go. I have 2 of these saws they work great. Great saw for the money. I use for cutting tree branches and making kindling. I also have the weed eater, circular saw, hedge trimmer. And drill. I have other more expensive brands. I seem to go to these for ease and light weight use. Battery price is still reasonable.
I cut Metal. I cut the roof off a Ford Explorer Sport Trac. 25 linear feet of steel, cross members and bulk heads. This device ate it. Used a Lenox Carbide Blade, 24 teeth per inch. It took less than one blade, and less than one battery. This device is Bad A$$. Best bang for the buck in salvage yard destruction devices. HF, L, and HD, all sell similar, but then they gouge you by forcing you to buy separate charger, separate battery. Clearly Big Box is out of touch. That said, I cant comment on pruning shrubs with this. If you are pruning shrubs, get something else. If you are doing real work, heavy personal project level, sheet metal, cross members, bulk heads- get this.I totally recommend this device.Comes with battery and charger.
Works great. Really light compared to the decent quality corded ones. If you plan on using it for light to medium use applications this saw will work fine. Cuts tree limbs quickly and without getting snagged. Overall for the price (Under 70 dollars on sale when bought) you won't be upset.
