This cooks steak beautifully. It is easy to clean in hot soapy water, dried and then regressed before storage. Really good quality product.

I love bacon although my husband and son thinks they can't live without it. I fry at least 3 lbs a week and this pan simplifies this task so much. Sometimes things fit better in a square skillet. For these times, this skillet is about as good as it gets. It is made to the typical Lodge standards. It is heavy duty, has a helper handle, as well as a looped handle for hanging. The skillet comes pre seasoned, and ready to go. I would recommend this skillet.

Well seriously, when it comes to cooking, as long as you have one Lodge cast iron skillet you're pretty much set for life. I have lots of Lodge cast iron cookware and I also have several of their new enamel cast iron too. This skillet is a perfect choice to have because of it's size and shape. On the stove you can fry bacon, eggs, potatoes, and most anything you want. However, it's great in the oven too for cornbread (can cut perfect square portions), cakes, cobblers, casseroles, biscuits, and more. IF you're trying to decide between this one and the one with the grill inner bottom, get this one....reason being, you'll have a lot more uses for this one, such as I just stated and a tad easer clean up with this one.
Arrived quickly (although packaging could have been better since the box was falling apart). Love the pan itself, it is the perfect size for frying bacon (which is hat I was looking for). Great heat distribution, as always for a cast iron skillet. Would buy this pan again and highly recommend it.

With a little care when using {Oil. Butter, Grease} is needed to maintain the seasoning and assists in preventing sticking. Which brings up another subject of proper cooking temperature before introducing items to be cooked. thoroughly enjoy cooking with this skillet. One other item of concern is when you are cleaning the product use cleaning products sparingly.
It is OK - The best manufacturers of yesteryear have gone under - only the low-price leader, Lodge has survived in America. It is way better than the ones made in China. If you are going to use it for bacon, it works well, but I suggest that you get the matching Lodge bacon press for it. This skillet is way better than the one that Lodge makes with the ribs on the bottom - we have both and don't use the ribbed one. The press fits them both.
I ordered this skillet and the glass lid so I could cook my bacon in a cast iron skillet. I read that was the best way to cook it. So I was really excited when I got it and followed all the directions to prepare for my first use. Now remember I'm cooking bacon which is really pretty simple but it was a nightmare. The bacon stuck to the pan so bad it was all I could do to get it cooked and vowed to never again use this skillet for anything. It supposedly was pre-seasoned but it sure didn't seem like it. It just didn't work for me.
I wanted this square skillet without the raised grill to make casseroles, cakes and such. It has already made it's way into weekly use in my cookery collection of cast iron. Search for a second hand glass lid has already begun. It is perfect for 4 slices of bread at one time, without overcrowding.
