A flawless pairing of form and function that doesn't quit, the Lodge Dutch Oven is an enameled cast iron classic that's great for preparing and serving memorable meals. WHAT IS PORCELAIN ENAMEL ON CAST IRON? It is actually glass that becomes bonded to the cast iron at high temperatures. A particulate of glass, called frit, is applied to the cast iron vessel and then baked at temperatures between 1200 and 1400° F. The glass frit melts and fuses to the cast iron, forming a bond. Porcelain enamel on cast iron is heat tolerant and impervious to water and other consumables. MAKE EVERY MEAL A MEMORY. This was a gift for my daughter. It was beautiful. She loves it. Made chicken and dumplings in it. Turned out perfect.

I was searching for a durable and sturdy piece that wouldn't cost an excessive amount. After extensive research, I finally decided this was the one for me. It is the perfect size for a 5 lb pot roast (came out perfect!) and a loaf of no knead bread (amazing!). It is heavy which is just what it should be and it cleans so easily! I will recommend this product to anyone searching!

Beautiful! I love the new delivery notification: bring it inside as soon as you can (translation: don’t leave it out for porch thieves). This is heavy so it’d be amusing watching someone try to scramble with it.I love Lodge cast iron and highly recommend all of their pots and pans if you’re willing to invest the time in taking care of them. Enameled cookware doesn’t get seasoned, but you have to take care not to chip it and don’t use metal utensils.

I picked up the last 2 of these off the shelf on clearance for forty four bucks. These are every bit as good as my LeCreuset. I wanted an oval one that was larger. The other is a Christmas gift --what a great deal! Never cook on high heat, only use medium as it disperses and holds the heat. I wish it came in another color choice but for the price I couldn't pass it up!
Very pleased with my new Dutch oven. It is well made and looks very nice too. It is heavy (20 lbs total?), the lid is maybe Even a little heavier than the pot itself. Made a pot roast for the first time. Came out good. Will be trying to make bread in it next. I like the versatility of the Dutch oven. Worth every penny.
This product is everything it says it is. Solid craftsmanship and excellent performance. Purchased in late December and have already cooked several dishes from stovetop to oven with great results. Interior cleans easily with a short soak and a non abrasive sponge. Price plus 20% coupon was reasonable especially compared to more expensive brands.
Excellent product. Size and shape works well. Product is on the heavy side, to be expected after all it is cast iron. Extremely happy with my purchase. You can't go wrong with this one. The color is also beautiful. Was glad to find this size at a great price.
Most importantly, this cast iron dutch oven is 'fully' enameled. In looking for an enameled cast iron dutch oven, found that some were not fully enameled. While the pot and lid have a black rim, it is not raw cast iron, but a matte enamel. The large handles are great for being able to lift it in and out of the oven. Bakes, roasts and cleans up beautifully. And the price is awesome when compared to the brands that cost four times as much. No seasoning or rusting of the piece to worry about. Thrilled with this purchase.
Big paint chip the size of a mans thumb fell off at the rim immediately when I heated it on an induction burner. Not even very high heat, coming from room temperature. I'd return it but have tossed the box it came in. I guess I'm stuck with it. Till now, I thought Lodge was the end all-be all in cast iron cooking.
This 7 quart dutch oven sounded like a great way to cook a family size pot roast with vegetables. However, I did not even take it out of the box when it arrived because it is EXTREMELY heavy. It would be entirely unmanageable when filled. It would definitely cause the oven rack to bow under the weight.I did purchase the 5 quart dutch oven and am very happy overall. It will hold a 4 pound chuck roast, some carrots, and an onion (though no room for potatoes). Use caution when placing and removing it from the oven. The filled weight (of the 5 quart) does put a slight bow in the oven rack.
