It carries forward all the great things from the original Master 3, while adding some improvements that (in my opinion) do not significantly alter the experience of using it compared to the Master 3. One improvement - a higher-resolution, 8000 DPI sensor - was not a remarkable upgrade for me personally. But another improvement - quieter buttons - is definitely noticeable. I was happy with the feel and sound of the Master 3 buttons, but I will admit that the buttons on the Master 3S just feel a little more damped. Personally, I think it lends an slightly more "premium" feeling to the Master 3S.(Of course, when I talk about a great design for this mouse, I speak as a right-handed mouse user. If you prefer using a mouse with your left hand, the Master 3S also has the same, completely right-hand-oriented design that is likely an instant deal-breaker.)The "For Mac" edition of the Master 3S is really just a marketing ploy. The mouse itself is physically identical, except that you can get it in some "exclusive" colors that seem intended to complement the typical light- and dark-gray finishes of Apple's devices. Since this is one of the main selling points of this edition, I've attached a picture of a Space Gray Master 3s next to both a Space Gray and Silver MacBook Pro. It looks fine, but in my opinion, the "basic" Master 3S colors seem like they'd complement just as well. (The color scheme might be a bigger selling point of the "For Mac" edition if Logitech was color matching the array of M1 iMac colors, or at least some of Apple's more recent shades like Midnight and Starlight.)In addition to the color, the included USB cable (for charging the Master 3S) has a USB Type-C connector on both ends (instead of one Type-A and one Type-C), and there is also no USB Type-A dongle included. I don't mind the cable choice, and I guess I understand that logic behind leaving out the dongle when the mouse is being marketed to Mac (and iPad/iPhone) users (since Bluetooth availability can basically be assumed, and not all Macs even have Type-A ports). However, one of the great features of the Logitech MX series is the ability to easily use the device with multiple computers, regardless of OS. The Master 3S is no different in that regard, so for someone that may want to pair it someday with a non-Apple computer that has no Bluetooth, a dongle will need to be purchased separately. (I'll also note that the Master 3S now uses the newer "Logi Bolt" dongle, instead of the older "Unifying" dongle that Logitech used for years. Since I didn't get a Logi Bolt dongle, I can't say whether it's a change for the better or not - but it's a little bit of a bummer to lose backwards compatibility when I have several of the older Unifying receivers already.)In all other respects, the "For Mac" edition operates identically to the "standard" version. If you like one of the "For Mac" color schemes, you also shouldn't be afraid to buy one to use with a PC (so long as you have Bluetooth, and either a USB Type-C port for charging or a spare Type-A/Type-C cable). The price has remained the same from the Master 3 to the Master 3S (which is not insignificant in light of economic inflation between the product launches.) It's still very much a premium price tag, but if you'll use it daily, I think it can be justified. I have used my Master 3 daily since I got it, and it's held up quite well (even the soft-touch finish, which I usually find to wear away quickly on my mice). I have no reason to expect otherwise with the Master 3S, which I'll likely also use daily now (and now bring my Master 3 to use while at work).

To my dismay I discovered my work computer does not have bluetooth, and since then I have learned that bluetooth connections are often disabled on enterprise machines. So, for Flow to work in the manner I had hoped, the Bolt USB receiver is essential. Fortunately, the MX Master 3S "for Mac" is marked on the bottom of the mouse itself that it will connect with the Bolt USB receiver, although in the table above it doesn't say that it does, so I have ordered one hoping that it will work.Further confusing the entire situation is the fact that there are multiple versions of the MX Keys keyboard that you are likely to be pairing this mouse with as well. The MX Keys "for Mac" and the regular MX Keys both are NOT compatible with the Bolt USB receiver, and come with the "Logitech Unifying Receiver" in the box. Hilariously, the Logitech Unifying Receiver is NOT compatible with the MX Master 3S so now I'm stuck with a minimum of 2 receivers on my work PC. I even stumbled across a third version of the MX Keys dubbed "for business" that claims compatibility with the Bolt receiver and says it includes one in the box. Again, the same price. It just should not be that difficult to get a mouse and keyboard that work like they are implied to.You'll notice on Logitech's site that they continually imply that the MX series products work together seamlessly but I think this is misleading. You'll notice that on the 'combos' page under shop>mice and keyboards>combos, that they show a picture of a MX Master 3S for Mac and a MX Keys for Mac at the top of the page, but then don't actually list any of the MX series under the product combos paired for purchase. I think this is because they realize the bird's nest of convoluted compatibility issues they've created with all these different versions of very similar products.I've left the review 2 stars because they keyboard and mouse themselves seem excellent. I haven't had them very long but I'm making this review on my MacBook with the MX Keys for Mac and MX Master 3S both paired over bluetooth and enjoying the experience. Build quality is excellent, keys and clicks are quiet yet crisp, but the maze of different versions and connections at play is just ridiculous.

The MX Master 3S also has a button to change modes, but now the system is all electronic using a magnet, and also adjusts on the fly as well. In the normal mode, you feel the bumps as you scroll through a few items, but if you sling the wheel with a bit more force it will automatically act like a flywheel and spin freely. This is awesome when scrolling through long lists or spreadsheets. It's taken one of my favorite features of the gaming-grade G604 and made it better.2) The bottons are very quiet but still have a tactile click - I record training and product demo videos at work and it's always annoying how every mouse click is audible on the recording. That won't be a problem with the MX Master 3S. If I was given the choice of what mouse to outfit every computer at the office with, it would be this one just on this feature alone.3) Logi Bolt technology and easy switch to 3 computers: I got the MX Keys Mini awhile back and purchased the Logi Bolt dongle with it to test the new tech. I like that the new MX products have this capability to use Bluetooth or Bolt, and that Bolt fixes some of the security issues present in the old 2.4g tech. Easy switch makes it super easy to switch betwen my MacBook and other PCs at my desk. Since it supports Bluetooth, you don't need to move a dongle around, and it works with iPads and Android devices!4) USB-C charging and battery life: Logitech advertises this as having 70 days of battery life, and I have not had it long enough to question that claim - mine came with 45% charge in the box and I haven't topped it up since opening it 4 days ago. USB-C charging is a must have these days and I'm glad you can continue working with it connected to the charger.I haven't quite adapted to the gesture controls enabled by the built in gesture button on the MX Master 3S, but I have been using the mission control gesture and it is pretty nice. The horizontal scroll wheel is a welcome addition, as well. I haven't had one on a mouse in over a decade and it's so nice to be able to rapdily scroll sideways in a chart. I don't have another Mac to test the Logi Options+ feature of switching from mac to mac seamlessly, but this seems like a great feature to have if you are in a position to need it.The MX Master 3S is a great mouse that is a serious upgrade for people who want a top tier mouse marketed specifically at high productivity professionals - no more gaming mouse on my desk for work!

Excellent Mouse for Mac Productivity

The Logitech MX Master 3S for Mac is my new favorite mouse for productivity. The ergonomics are great, and I really like the vertical and horizontal scroll wheels. I can easily scroll through 1 line of code or hundreds in VS Code as the scroll wheel will transition from having precise 1-line resistance to completely freewheeling based on how fast you move it. The horizontal scroll doesn’t offer the same feature as it’s just a single speed but it’s smooth and works well especially for those crazy big Excel sheets. My absolute favorite feature is the customizable gesture button which you may not even realize is there, but you can press it and move the mouse up, down, left, or right to do various tasks. I have mine set up to open Mission Control, Launchpad, App Expose, or move to the left or right desktop. Yes, the “magic” mouse that Macs come with has this same functionality through multitouch gestures but it’s in a very thin and light package that my bigger hands have never gotten used to when working. The 3S works well and it's very hard to accidentally trigger a gesture unintentionally. Both the button clicks and scroll wheels are near silent, perfect for an office. The 8K DPI sensor tracks well on my high resolution 4K monitors. This mouse is customizable with the Logi Options+ software. You can remap all the buttons including the gestures, as well as adjust scrolling behavior, and set up Logi Flow which I’ll get to below. There is per-application configuration, and some will be setup for you automatically such as in Photoshop, where the back button becomes undo and forward turns into redo. On Chrome or Safari for example, the horizontal scroll wheel moves between tabs. You can of course customize the application specific configurations as well as create your own for applications that don’t have an out of the box configuration. This mouse doesn’t come with a Logitech Bolt receiver like the Windows MX 3S does but I’m not sure if it’s even needed. I haven’t had any issues using the Bluetooth technology with my Mac or iPad. In addition, you can pair up to three different devices and switch instantly with a button on the bottom of the mouse. The only downside I could find is maybe specific to me and anyone who is using Apple’s Universal Control which allows you to seamlessly work between multiple Apple devices using the same mouse and keyboard. I use a Mac and an iPad Pro and have been using Universal Control since it was in beta nearly a year ago. It has worked fine except for with this mouse. When paired to my Mac, and moving over to the iPad, I cannot scroll with either wheel as the Logi Options+ software is still “owning” the scrolling functions. If I uninstall Options+ then Universal Control works but I lose access to the gestures, customization, and other benefits of having it installed. So frustratingly, it’s a software problem, not hardware. As of today it's still an issue, although Logitech claims to support Universal Control since an April 2022 release of Options+.Logitech provides a feature with this mouse called Logi Flow which does something like Universal Control but unfortunately it only supports Windows and Mac, not iOS. Another thing I should note is that although the box says it supports iPad there is no software available so it would be the same as not having Options+ installed. No button customization or gestures, however, standard scrolling both horizontal and vertical works on iOS.ProsBluetooth WirelessGreat ErgonomicsElectromagnetic Scrolling WheelHorizontal Scroll WheelCustomizable Gesture ButtonsApplication Specific CustomizationLong battery lifeQuiet clicksCons:Right hand onlyNo Software support for iPadUniversal Control supportOverall – it's a fantastic mouse for my daily work use except for the Universal Control issue but hopefully that gets fixed soon.

It's been a really long time since I've used a computer mouse that I've properly liked, but this one is definitely a good one. I have large hands, but it accommodates them just fine without squishing my fingers when I grip the mouse. Overall, it's just really comfortable. I can use the mouse for long periods of time with no issues, and even though it's a really clunky mouse that's kind of a pain to transport it's totally worth it.Aside from the ergonomics being wonderful, there's a lot to like in terms of functionality as well. The Logitech Options+ software lets you configure the mouse to your exact preferences, but best of all you can give it app-specific settings: for instance, I can set the back/forward keys to be shortcuts in Excel or volume adjusters in media apps. The function of the side scroll bar can be swapped as well. The program even can show you exactly what devices are connected to the mouse in case you forget what's connected to what slot, and it has a handy battery indicator. I do wish Logitech would better differentiate between Options and Options+ so I wouldn't keep downloading the wrong one, but that's mostly a slight nitpick.Despite being a mouse designed for Mac, it does well on Windows and iPadOS too. On the iPad, it's a pretty basic little thing, but it's nice to have if you're using the iPad as a laptop. There's no configuration for it, but that's to be expected. On Windows, the mouse will even prompt you to install Logitech Options+ on it's own with a notification so that you don't download the wrong one again, and it can pair without having to open the entire Bluetooth menu (assuming you're connecting via Bluetooth rather than a programmable Bolt USB).Regardless of whether you're using Bolt or Bluetooth, the connection experience has been much the same for me (though Windows handles Bluetooth better as far as still being extensibly configurable goes). It's seamless, there's no lag I've noticed, and the mouse is just smooth all around.Probably my favorite two things are the USB-C charging and the three devices. Since I need a Windows computer for certain things but swap between an iPad and a MacBook for most other things, having a mouse that works with all devices with a simple button tap is utterly great.Unless you're after a vertical mouse, a trackball, or a mouse with RGB; there's really no reason I wouldn't recommend this thing. It's even got quiet clicks and a scroll wheel with adjustable modes. As of yet I still haven't found something I don't like about this thing. I would definitely recommend this - hands down the best mouse I've had.

The reasons being that the Bolt transceivers use a newer Bluetooth standard and with higher radio encryption.Multiple keyboards and mice can be paired to a single Bolt receiver. This is the 'Mac' version of the mouse. The differences with the 'Non Mac' version are mostly cosmetic: The Mac version has a silver finish plastic on the base instead of being all black, the charging cable is USB-C to USB-C where on the general version is USB-C to USB-A, and most importantly, it does not come with the Bolt receiver, which it does come with the non-Mac version. The adapter can be bought separately, but I happen to have one already that came with a keyboard.A Mac will see the mouse as USB instead of Bluetooth when using the adapter, so the laptop works with it during the initial boot.So to the many features on this mouse:High DPI sensor is very smooth. I'm using it on a black table with no issues. It also works on glass, and the precision is adjustable up to an unheard of 8000 DPI (Recommended when using High-DPI displays). The sliding pads on this are very smooth, and it's easy to clean.Besides the main and left buttons that feature the silent click, clicking on the top wheel acts as a middle button. Then there is another button on the center body that's configured to control the wheel spin.On the left side there are two more function buttons below an horizontal wheel. And then there is a hidden gesture button on the thumb rest. While there is no software required to use the mouse, on macOS and Windows it's best to install the Logitech Option+ software that controls all the newer Logitech keyboards and mice, including the optional Bolt receiver. All the buttons and wheels are configurable and the software supports configurable actions per application (For example, side buttons can control Mic mute and video sharing on Zoom, or page navigation gestures on Word, etc. Both wheels are all metal, and the center wheel can be configured to ratchet, freewheel or automatically shift between ratcheting and freewheeling depending on the speed it's rotated. Internally the mouse uses magnets to control the ratcheting and one can feel when the mouse 'brakes' the wheel with its magnets. The gestures button is something that's taking me some time to get used to: One press on the rubber body of the mouse right where the thumb rests launches mission control. Holding the button while dragging the mouse down launches App Expose. Hold and left/right changes the virtual desktops.Ergonomics: It's a healthy middle-ground between the natural position of an ergonomic mouse but it's not flat. The angle on this mouse makes it easier to transition between the mouse and the keyboard, as the hand would rest in a similar angle.Battery: It's rechargeable, and it charges with a standard USB-C cable. The mouse can be used while charging, but the USB-C connector is for charging only.Multiple devices: Keyboards and mice in the MX series, this included, can be paired with three computers. The button on the base serves to switch between computer 1,2,3 or pairing. To make this simpler, if one plans on using two or three computers side-by-side, and the computers have the Logitech Options+ installed, an optional 'Flow' mode makes switching seamless once the mouse is dragged to the edge of the monitor. It also enables Copy/Paste and file transfer. The computers have to be on the same network, and also works between Windows and macOS.iPad: Basic mouse functionality works on iPads. No app needed. The extra buttons come with pre-defined navigation functions.Overall: It's as good as it gets. However I would've considered the standard MX Master 3S for the sole reason that it includes the bolt receiver, so it ends up being cheaper if one plans on using it. Also I don't have a strong preference with the base painted metallic gray. The standard All-Black also complements Mac hardware very well.

The Logitech MX Master series of mice is, in my opinion, host to some of the best productivity mice ever designed. They're comfortable, feature rich, durable, and work on just about any surface you might come across. The newest mac focused version carries on this tradition, opting to refine what works rather than reinvent the wheel. My first impression on getting the mouse out of the box were positive. Unlike a lot of Logitech's more gaming focused offerings this mouse puts a high priority on battery life, and it's reflected in the heavy (though not uncomfortable) feel in the hand. The shape is only subtly refined from the previous versions of the MX master, which were essentially identical to one another. They've lengthened and narrowed the body somewhat, which I'll admit I found to be slightly less comfortable to hold than the old form factor but my girlfriend (who has smaller hands than me) rather liked. You also get two machined metal wheels, one operated by your thumb and the other by the middle finger. The vertical wheel has an updated version of their smooth scroll tech which lets it dynamically switch between providing detents or just a smooth wheel depending on how fast you flick the wheel. While this seems like a very small detail I've found it invaluable for scrolling through code, documents, or web pages quickly. The rest of the buttons are springy and remarkably silent. While I wouldn't generally call Logitech mice loud they very much feel like it when compared to this one, which seems to talk exclusively in polite whispers. The only thing I found somewhat disappointing is the decision not to include a USB receiver like you get in the PC branded version, which in my experience generally offers more reliable performance than Bluetooth. Granted this isn't something that would work with a lot of modern macs, but it seems like it would be nice to have regardless. The Bluetooth pairing process is straightforward, and if that's all you want to do you can be ready to go in just a few seconds. Power users however will likely want to take the time to install the Logi Options+ utility, which allows for more detailed customization and unlocks a lot of the mouse's more flashy features including the ability to seamlessly move between multiple paired devices on the same network, per application control mapping, and adjusting the sensitivity on the optical sensor. Having dedicated buttons for undo/redo and using the side wheel to adjust the brush size in photoshop seems like it could have a huge impact on my overall workflow, though admittedly I suspect it will take me a while to retrain myself to reliably use them. And, in case anyone was wondering, it works just as well on PC.The only thing that left me somewhat confused is what exactly makes this a "Mac" mouse as opposed to just a standard MX Master 3S (which, it should be pointed out, also works with mac and has access to the same utilities.) From where I sit it kind of looks like they just decided to slap a new slip cover on the box rather than changing the design. That said I'm also not entirely sure that's a bad thing when the base product is already this good. As such even with the somewhat confusing branding, I have no issues recommending it to anyone looking for a high quality Bluetooth mouse, regardless of your platform of choice.

The Best Now Better and for Mac

Logitech has definitely set itself apart lately when it comes to computer mice which with this new mouse they have only improved upon the original mx master 3. I have been a major proponent of the original mx master 3 mouse as it was perfect in all elements to which now I have a new go to.Firstly, right out of the box the design is essentially identical to the mx master 3 to which in my opinion there was no room for improvement in that respect. You can tell that Logitech is really focusing on quality with this mouse as it has just enough heft, but is not too cumbersome while also feeling very premium in your hand.Getting this mouse connected to my devices and switching between them for that matter is as simple as ever and will only take you a minute before you ... MoreLogitech has definitely set itself apart lately when it comes to computer mice which with this new mouse they have only improved upon the original mx master 3. The one major new feature that I really appreciate is the reduced noise of the mouse clicks as it is a noticeable difference that is extremely nice for the workplace setting. It`s also hard to describe, but the buttons also feel softer in comparison to the prior model to which I really like and may coincide with the reduced sound of the clicks. The other thing I really like was the improved sensor as there are times where I have to take my laptop with me and for those instances where I have had the annoying glass surface this mouse actually works exponentially better than any other mouse I have used. The scroll wheel and overall feel of the mouse in my hand are exceptional as ever and definitely stand out above the rest. Additionally, the new Options+ software looks a lot better than the previous version and makes it extremely easy to reassign any buttons/functions. A cool feature was that if your mouse is paired to two separate devices you can even copy and paste between machines which it isn`t something I use often though it has come in handy a couple times. As similar to the last version the battery life is great and will last me nearly a month to which the included USB-C cable charges the mouse very quick.Overall, again Logitech has outdone themselves here and set the standard for wireless mice as nearly everything you could ask for has been packed into this mouse and now improved even further. From the comfort, battery life, and improved sensors and usability I would not hesitate to recommend this mouse in any respect.

Very solid overall, but some notable issues

I've had this mouse for a few weeks now and have used it almost every day primarily for music production and casual computer use. Overall, I like the mouse and am keeping it, but there are a couple things that will take some getting used to/I hope get fixed. The good:- The build quality is really nice, and even though it is surprisingly light weight it feels sturdy under hand with good grip and ergonomics.- Customizability using Logi Options+ means you can personalize the mouse based on your preferences and for different programs.- It's very precise while being fast which is very helpful when working on creative tasks like photo, video, graphic design, music, etc.- It's a good looking device that matches a Mac well (though I would have liked the white one ... MoreI've had this mouse for a few weeks now and have used it almost every day primarily for music production and casual computer use. Overall, I like the mouse and am keeping it, but there are a couple things that will take some getting used to/I hope get fixed. The good:- The build quality is really nice, and even though it is surprisingly light weight it feels sturdy under hand with good grip and ergonomics.- Customizability using Logi Options+ means you can personalize the mouse based on your preferences and for different programs.- It's very precise while being fast which is very helpful when working on creative tasks like photo, video, graphic design, music, etc.- It's a good looking device that matches a Mac well (though I would have liked the white one if it didn't turn yellow/brown).The things I'll need to get used to:- The amount of pressure it takes to click is extremely low, so I've found myself accidentally clicking when I'm simply resting my hand/fingers on the mouse (I do have rather large hands).- It is frustrating that you are essentially forced to buy the black one given how easily the white one turns yellow/brown. I've read numerous accounts of people having that issue and it turned me away from the white one, which was actually the one I wanted. If I keep seeing this issue on Logitech products it'll turn me away from the company, but for now I'll trust they address it in the future. The bad:-The scroll wheels are glitchy in some programs. For example: In Ableton Live holding 'Command' and scrolling is supposed to allow you to zoom in and out. With this mouse it registers the 'Command' modifier less than half of the time, and you end up just scrolling up and down. I tried to set the thumb buttons as zoom in and out to compensate, but Logi Options+ doesn't allow for this in Live. This is a really big thing for anyone who would be looking to this mouse for increased work speeds (like I was/am) and needs reliable zoom in/out functionality. The thumb scroll also lags a bit, increasing the frustration around navigation. Luckily this is likely a software issue and so I'm hoping it will get fixed, especially given that they market this mouse to creatives.I plan on keeping the mouse and hoping Logitech puts out a firmware update in the near future given it's a pretty new product. I'll get used to the lightness of the click over time and am sure it will become a positive, especially since it's a very quiet clicking sound.

I've been using the 3S for about a month now, and I would describe the performance as very good. The mouse appears to hold a charge for a long time (I might have charged it once?), tracking is great, phyisical feel is great for me, and overall it operates as expected.I've used multiple MX mice in the past, and dozens of mice over 30+ years of computer use. The design of the mouse is pleasing. I was attracted to the light color as something of an alternative to most input products on the market, to somewhat match the white color used in many Apple products (note: the mouse is not white, it’s a very light grey). I expect it to get a bit dingy with use; I’m not sure how convenient cleaning is. I expect it to get a bit dingy with use; I’m not sure how convenient cleaning is. Also, regarding the industrial design, it's a little odd that the right button is shorter than the left, when one's middle finger is typically longer than the index finger, but I've found no issues with this design. There are additional button and scroll controls on the mouse which can be customized using Logitech’s Logi Options+ software (very nicely designed), but I haven’t assigned much beyond the default settings.Logitech removed the option to work with their Unifying USB receiver dongle, and now uses an optional “Bolt” receiver. This might be an issue for some folks. One aspect I dislike is the Smart Shift scroll wheel behavior. It claims to change scroll speed from line-by-line to fast speed during a scroll action. This behavior is enabled out of the box which I found annoying since, in some cases (such as on web sites with custom scroll behaviors), this behavior hinders usability in that page content is sometimes over- or under-scrolled. I thought this was the default scroll behavior until I installed the Logi Options+ software, where the feature can be disabled. One mark against the product is cost. At the time of my purchase, retail was $99 which I find excessive. I went ahead with the purchase thanks to $20 discount code provided by Logitech, but otherwise I would not have purchased.High cost aside, the long charge-holding ability, customizable behaviors and physical design make the 3S a solid product worth purchasing.
