I originally had a Logitech G815 and bought this to get rid of the wire. My old one was a tactile G815, this one has clicky switches. It's a fine productivity keyboard, particularly once you turn the lightshow down to a softer light. The macro keys have all kinds of non-gaming uses, from inserting commonly-used special characters to launching applications. Just know that if you want to pass arguments to an application upon launch, the "arguments" textbox in G-Hub will not be passed to the launched application. You will have to make a batch file or PowerShell script (note, enabling PowerShell scripts might open a security hole on your computer), then launch the batch file or script via G-Hub. Batch files and scripts can enable all kinds of useful things through those G-keys. If you turn the lights lower, the battery goes from good to amazing. The media keys and volume nob are convenient, but not programmable. If you use the Lightspeed dongle (highly recommended as it has much lower latency), it is suggested that you attach the dongle to a USB hub on your desktop, or use the included dongle adapter to put the dongle on the end of the included USB cable so you can have the dongle on your desktop close to your keyboard. The battery is replaceable (remove screws under the sticker on the bottom of the keyboard). I prefer this over the TKL version of the G915 just because the thought of entering IP addresses without a numeric keypad sounds like a nightmare. I cannot stress enough how the low profile, low key travel, and low spring force on the keys make this a dream to type on. This keyboard is indeed expensive, but if you look at what we paid for mechanical keyboards on the original IBM PCs back in the 1980s, then adjust for inflation, it's still less expensive than what we paid for keyboards back in the day.

Smaller, more portable, and an odd omission on the G915 becomes glaringly obvious on the G915 TKL: a slot for the USB dongle. The TKL has one, but its big brother doesn't? Maybe it's for the increased portability, but I still think it's an odd omission.As far as connections, I notice zero lag between the Lightspeed 2.4Gh and the Bluetooth; however, that comes with the caveat of my being an amateur gamer: I've yet to personally defeat the Ender Dragon without a partner and my KD on Cold War is about 1.6. I'm not that good.Overall, both keyboards are comfortable to use, especially if you're coming from laptop and chiclet style keyboards for the last 10 years. The click on the clicky version is extremely satisfying but also extremely loud. Even the Razer green switches were quieter. The tactile is quiet with good feedback (I personally don't like the lack of click--it's an adjustment :( ) and the better of the two if you don't use macros or need to map key functions very much or very often (I don't).

I bought this keyboard together with the mouse from the same G line. Everything seems to work ok for the most part, but when it comes to controlling the back lights behind the keys, you can't just do that from the keyboard. You have to go into the app in your computer's program menu and control it from there. However, whenever I try to log into the app, it says that I need to update the keyboard's firmware. But it won't let you do the update via Bluetooth, so you have to disconnect the Bluetooth and connect via hardline, which is micro-USB to USB. But when I do this, the computer is unable to recognize the device so it can't be updated. And it isn't that the port doesn't work, because I plug other devices into those ports all the time.So now the lights either ... MoreI bought this keyboard together with the mouse from the same G line. What other function could I possibly need the keyboard to do that it doesn't already do once it leaves the factory? And it's not like keyboards need security updates. It's just a keyboard. So if you are going to make a keyboard that needs firmware updates, make it easier to do. There's no reason the firmware data can't be transferred via Bluetooth. That, or put the light controls on the keyboard like most manufacturers do. For the price you pay for this thing, it should do that at minimum. I'm not paying more for the manufacturer to make it more, unnecessarily complicated.
It is a shame having to give an overall great keyboard a rating of 1 due to their very poor G Hub software. It worked great for a while and now has become a constant problem for both I own.After a recent update key lighting started to be hit or miss with keys changing to a different color or random key lights not turning on at all and the "Dim Active Effect" sleep mode no longer works. The only option now is "Breathing" with a color choice. Not a huge deal, but I liked the Dim Effect, it was nice. The key lighting issue is a big deal since this is sold as an RGB keyboard ...I have reloaded the software multiple times, created multiple profiles called (new Freestyles) and still have the same issues. BT features are very limited. Basically only full keyboard single color or a preset. No customization is available.Get the wired version. Wireless is not worth the troubles or extra cost. My wife has a G815 and it has no issues at all.

The materials/build quality are great, and despite them not using more mainstream switches, Logitech's own switches still feel nice. Battery life has also been very good.However, there are a few drawbacks which prevent me from saying it is a five-star product. Firstly, the software experience leaves much to be desired. While it isn't as resource heavy and prone to crashing as other companies peripheral software, it could use some much needed redesigning. It uses Micro-USB instead of USB C. At first glance, this may not seem like a big deal, but if you are trying to market this as a premium product, you probably should use modern standards for charging/data transfer. I honestly can't remember the last time I used microUSB, and it was genuinely shocking to me that Logitech would use it instead of USB-C given the market that this keyboard is designed for.Instead of me being able to use my phones charger or any other device that uses USB-C, I have to make sure to keep this Micro-USB cable around and it just seems both wasteful in a way, and cheap. This is made worse by the fact that other Logitech's premium peripheral's like their lightspeed mouse, also uses Micro-USB instead of USB-C.Lastly, the special characters and keys that have multiple functions (like brackets, hashtags, etc) while backlit for their major function, are not backlit for their secondary function. The backlighting is nice, but not complete for some of the keys. I would semi-frequently find myself looking for the ampersand or dollar sign keys, but because they aren't backlight like their primary function is, it can mean looking down and squinting to find where they are.All-in-all what I'll say is this, Logitech continues to make good quality products and I'm happy with my purchase, but in the future, dump Micro-USB. It's a dead connection type. Apply the backlighting effect to the full key and put a little more work into the user experience for the keyboard's software.

Perhaps the younger generation is more aware of the symbols on the different keys but I would love a clear explanation and examples.SERIAL NUMBER -- BEWARE, the SN on the outside of the box does NOT match the SN inscribed on the bottom of the keyboard. The registration process provided by Logitech does NOT alert the user to this. Numerous emails with their support resulted in this discovery. Finally got the keyboard officially registered.So far the keyboard has functioned well with both gaming and as a regular keyboard for doing the necessary writing of emails and documents.I opted for this mechanical keyboard after learning that other non-mechanical keyboards use a membrane to activate the specific key and repetitive use of any key (which is what is required with the games I am planning) could impact the membrane causing it to be less sensitive or being recognized.It does seem that keyboard is loaded with lots of extra keys offering multitudes of options for those that may have varying users--such as the configuration of the M1 -M3 and MR buttons.I had an earlier version of the Logitech software installed--that software did not recognize this new hardware. The Logitech G-Hub software only recognizes this keyboard.Unsure if the Logi Bolt software is required--have not taken the time to remove this software to see what, if any, impact it may have on this hardware.If you don't like hearing the keys clatter as you depress them, I would suggest you avoid a mechanical keyboard.While I have only had the keyboard for about 1-2 weeks, I am slowly adapting to some of the new keys and features. Still need to research to better understand any benefits of configurations and the use of the various new extra keys.

Future me problem now.There's no wrist rest but it's quite thin so my wrists aren't bent on a bad angle trying to type from resting them on the desk, I'm very used to not using a wrist rest since before I purchasd this keyboard so that hasn't been a bother for me. My small portable non-Logitech keyboard is taller than this one, and I have no discomfort using that one either. Take that how you will.The G915 uses a Micro-USB cable to charge from instead of USB-C and I know some people find that unbearable. Logitech saving money I guess, but don't be that concerned. You probably have enough USB ports in the back of your computer for a micro USB cord if you're considering buying this. The cable supplied with the keyboard is long enough to route under your desk cable tray/webbing and retrieve for charging when you go to bed, and my PC is under my desk, so if yours is on the desk you'll be fine, but also fine if not. Like I mentioned before, I charge my mouse with this same cable (the one supplied with this keyboard) so it is a non-issue for me.I am happy with this keyboard, thank you for taking the time to read to the end of my review.

Mind you I don't do this on purpose, I'll be getting ready to delete something via backspace and put the SLIGHTEST amount of pressure and it will register as a press. Nothing close to a full compression.2. another big problem I have with Logitech specifically is they don't give you an in depth manual for ANY OF THE FRIGGIN PRODUCTS YOU BUY. You know what comes with these devices you're paying anywhere from $150 - $250? a very straightforward quickstart guide, a paper talking about the battery, and a packet talking about the safety instructions/warranty in 4 different languages!! You're telling me I'm paying over $100 for both a mouse and a keyboard and the closest thing to a manual you're gonna give me is G HUB. At least there's a manual for G HUB right? *on the internet*3. a pet peeve that's started to grow as I use this more and more is the keycaps are ABS and not double shot PBT which is INCREDIBLY disappointing especially when you consider the money you're dishing out on this thing. What does that mean? ABS keycaps are fingerprint magnets and they don't tend to wear well. If you're greasy/oily or you're hands sweat while gaming I'd stay away. PBT keycaps? Better material and wears very well. Sure I could go and spend more money and get a few PBT keycaps for WASD, SHIFT, and a few others, but I'm spending more money on a $250 premium keyboard that didn't come with double-shot PBT keycaps. also you must beware if you go to take this thing apart to clean it, the keycap clips are VERY fragile and very well may break when you try snapping them back into the switch.MIDDLE GROUND: G HUB is the software that comes with all the newer Logitech peripherals and it's honestly a blessing and a curse. The sky is the limit with G HUB. you can make macros that do a number of different things, change the RGB/ style to anything you want/ configure the G keys to certain things, and there's on board memory. This is very nifty, but G HUB is the most in depth and confusing software I have ever used. Razer Synapse was way more simple. Not to mention to use the G keys you have to go into the software everytime you turn on your PC, click you're keyboard and activate G shift just so those 5 keys can be taken advantage of IF you have them binded to something. I'm using 1 and 2 for DPI and it gets very annoying to have to open the software, turn on G shift and then be able to adjust my dpi via two buttons on my board. Furthermore G HUB doesn't notify you everytime your mouse changes DPI, only when it initially turns on. It very well could be that I'm 100% using the software wrong and all of the fixes to my issues as far as G HUB goes are right in front of my face and I'm just to foolish to see it, but it is a very complicated software.Finally to the positives! you wont be charging the battery on this baby every other week this thing is rated for 137 hours with RGB on, it feels like I'm playing with a wired keyboard besides the double occasional double clicks. What really drew my to this keyboard in the first place was the 2.4GHz connection via USB dongle. It seems tough to find good keyboards that use 2.4GHz connection via dongle. It's also BT if that's your thing. It has adjustable feet with two different sizes which you don't see very often another nice touch. I really enjoy the media control keys and I really want to enjoy my G keys but I just don't understand G HUB enough to be able to take advantage of those currently.Final thoughts: I've seen a few people say they don't recommend this keyboard and maybe I understand why? I'm not getting the full use out of the G keys Like I wish I was because the software is crazy, the switches actuation level is very sensitive, and the keycaps suck. I'm sure there are other reasons people don't recommend it, but for the price and the reasons I've listed I can't say I'd recommend it to someone in the market for a wireless keeb. There has got to be better keebs out there that are wireless and use a 2.4GHz dongle
