A great camera backpack

This is a great bag that's not too big, but still versatile for stills setups, but even good for some smaller video builds as well. When shooting on my own, this is always my go-to bag.

I had a small Lowepro but wanted a larger one so I can keep more lenses in. This one easily holds one body and two lenses, maybe three depending on the lens sizes. A long zoom lens (150-600mm) might be a too tight as a third lens. Two features I like particularly are the side opening so you can reach inside for a different lens without opening the entire case. Also I like that full access is from the back so you can place the pack face down and reach anything inside. There is an inside pocket for a laptop though I think a tablet is what really fits there better. Most laptops would be a tight fit and add a lot of weight. Recommended for local and away shoots.

Got it for when I can't carry everything. I was able to arrange it to carry 2 D750s; one with a 24-135 and a the other with a 70-200. Also got a flash and other smaller stuff in as well.

Great overall
7 January 2022

Very comfortable to carry around. I haven't used it fully loaded with a bunch of lenses yet, but so far it's been a joy to use and even fit my travel tripod perfectly in the pouch. Seems like it's going to hold up well and plan to be using it for many years.Something that can be improved--just wish the outer pocket was better thought out. It seems like it was just a second thought with the two pockets and the fabric seems cheap and thin. Not sure how well those will hold up.

Great, but for the chintzy waist belt.
12 September 2022

Very good quality, customizable interior. Stiff walls, good velcro, exceptionally smooth zippers. I'm carrying a D850, 24-70, 70-200, 50 prime, a packet of Haida M100s, and there's room for a little more if my back could handle it. The Peak Design travel tripod firs easily on outside, or on the inside with only one zoom lens. But the waist belt... not so much.

This was purchased as a bag upgrade. I own other Lowepro bags and this backpack is typical of their high quality. It's well designed and roomy. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Not a lot of attention to use cases
14 January 2023

I use a mirrorless system, and so far have resisted getting a dedicated camera backpack. I generally use a messenger bag. (Which fits a lot btw - 2 camera bodies with lenses mounted + battery chargers + filter kit + small flash + lens cleaning kit. One could also fit in an additional lens.)The reason I got this backpack is to carry an additional 150-600mm lens with an adapter for the mirrorless body. I tried carrying that lens other ways, but it is a little clumsy.Overall this backpack is well made, and fits all the lenses I need to carry. There are however several downsides.1. Water ?? Who is lugging backpacks worth of camera gear, and doesn't need to carry water ? There is exactly one spot to put your tripod, so you get to decide between carrying water or a tripod. There are also no additional hooks and such, so there is absolutely no way to attach something to carry water - maybe a S-biner to the shoulder strap somewhere.I am actually planning on putting a hydration bladder inside a dry-bag, and add it to the laptop compartment. Seems like the only solution.2. Tripod pocket is too tight. You can't put even a travel sized tripod with the ballhead attached & upside down. (i.e., the most compact packed way.) Instead your tripod needs to stick out on top. I have a ~1kg tripod, and even that won't fit here with the ballhead facing down.3. The quick-access side pocket. You want security, but also want a side access pocket ? A top access would actually make more sense than the side access. (gravity likes to pull things down you see, and with side pockets - stuff can fall out if you are not careful.)It's hard to fit a body nicely without compromising storage if you intend on using this side pocket regularly. And you lose a bottle holder because of this.4. cheap front pockets. Definitely seems like cost-cutting. Compared to the AW II version, this seems like a step down.5. Compared to the AWII, you also lose the front tripod holder - which may have been nicer for larger tripods.Overall, this is a bit of a mish-mash. Maybe good to carry stuff for travel. Or if you are in a city, photographing between sipping lattes in cafes. :) But on a day-hike and such, doesn't work so well. This has the potential to be more with just a few minor tweaks though. If you can fit 2 bottles of water, and fit a decently sized tripod, then you may have a winner. Maybe move the side access to the top, then add a second pouch to the side. Also bring back the front tripod holder.

Perfect for moderate sized DSLR kit
22 March 2022

This bag is the perfect size for a 3-4 lens DSLR kit, and is good value for the price. A bit minimal, but functional for small outings. Not a hiking pack, as waist belt is basically a 1 strap. I plan on adding the Wandrd belt straps to facilitate use for smaller hikes.Pros:Quality materials and construction. Quality brand, and a good fit for a specific hobby type shooter. Nice to have the inside zipper pouch removable (unlike the BP150 Tahoe). Quick side access great for filters or camera access (but miss having (2) stretchy side pockets!). Light weight ~ 3lbs.Cons:Only one side pocket, which is also for smaller tripods, so you can carry a tripod or water bottle, but not both. No external attachment points. Internal organizer is very minimal, only two pockets. Belt is weak, a simple 1 strap, could be better. Would prefer a light padded belt with removable gatekeeper buckles, 1 strap is removable by unthreading from a loop. So you have to re-thread it in to reattach. Large external pocket has a one way zipper, not a dual direction zipper.A great fit for me, in between my BP150 Tahoe (too small) and my Mindshift 26L hiking pack (too big, so I sold it). Looking forward to exploring with this pack.

The Lowepro Flipside 300 AW II was much better
21 April 2022

Some times companies improve their products. Other times they mess up a good design, just for the sake of changing their formula. The version II allowed you to carry three items on the sides and back outside the main body of the backpack, say two water bottles and a tripod, with the bottles on the side and the tripod in the middle, also allowing for the tripod to sit lower (if you are trekking through the jungle, a tripod sticking out will get you stuck in many places). And what is the point of that annoying hard bump on the back? I guess just to make sure the back pack doesn't fit in the overhead of a small plane...

Very nice, except hip strap
18 September 2022

You'll miss it if you load this up. For just a body and one lens it's alright. Customizable inserts and better than normal zippers. This is my 4th flipside. For 27 bucks you can augment the waist straps.
