Mac Prep + Prime Lip 1.7g

MAC is one of the leading brands of top quality makeup available for consumers like us. So of course when they come out with something we have to think its for the best. I bought this Prep and Prime Lip when I purchased a liquid lipstick because they said it would help it last longer. Essentially its a very expensive lip balm. If you lips are properly hydrated any liquid lipstick will last and I always apply a thin layer of lip balm before applying liquid lipstick anyways. Does this product do what it’s intended to? Yes. Is it overly priced and can something cheaper do the same job? Yes.

This Mac prep+lip primer is a little bit expensive and it cost around 180+ (swedish krona) sek around (1115 in Php), just be careful when twisting it because it’s so delicate that you can easily ruin it so just a heads up! (based on my experience). The texture is kind of feels like you are putting on a thick lip balm on your lips but its not so greasy at all. Some people might not like it but for me it is okey ;). This one is better to pair if you are using a matt lipstick because matte lipstick tend to dry your lips overtime, so I highly suggest to use this lip primer!. Overall it smooth out my lips and the smell is not so strong which I really really like!

The lipstick stayed on after an hour (actually took a bit to take off with even with Lancôme’s bifacil). Used it for work the next day and took a before picture (sunglasses) at 6:59am and an after at 12:30 pm before lunch. Forgot to take one after lunch (still had not worn off and was mildly faded at 5:pm on my way home) so decided to wear it again today and took the video! If you look at the video even after I rub it against my hand the only thing that seems to come off is a bit of lipliner (can’t remember which one was used 😰). The disclaimer is that I did use lip primer for the first time ever yesterday and again this morning, not sure if that had something to do with it, but on Monday night it was extremely hard to get off as well. Therefore, if you are looking for a long lasting lipstick you might want to consider this one🥰

Don't apply anything without this first!

To get the most out of a product promise for lipstick/gloss/stains, you need to give it the best base to shine. I put this on before I do anything, before any other primer or moisturiser so it has time to absorb. Then when the time comes, apply my foundation to the outer edge of my lips, re applying a LITTLE more to the inner lips, so you are not applying your liner to wet lips. They shouldn't be soaked with product before applying your lipstick/gloss/stains. It will leave your lips feeling moisturised and satin like, it does mine! The more dryer your lips, the more attention you'll need, even the night before I would think. I just know that I need this for long lasting lipsticks, especially Matt ones, to work as they promote. Great product!

I am a long-time (20+ yrs) user of ultra-long-wear lip color. I put my makeup on once per day. PERIOD. Everyone who uses such products know they dry out your lips. I was very skeptical of this product- I thought it would cause my long-wear products to come off, would be greasy, would be a waste of money. No. This is a great product. It protects my skin without affecting the long-wear quality of the lipstick I apply over it. My lips have not been in such great condition in years. I apply the Prep&Prime, do my eye makeup, and end with long-wear lipstick: That seems to allow time for the product to work its magic. So glad I gave this a try. A REAL breakthrough for a change, instead of hype and then a big ol' nuthin. Great product.

Made lipstick roll into balls

I applied the prep and primer to my lips and allowed it to set for 2 minutes just to be sure. I then applied a long-lasting lipstick which normally lasts 16 hours with eating. I allowed the lipstick to set and 10 minutes later at lunch. By the end of my lunch the lipstick was rolled into little annoying balls on my lips and was no longer covering at all. Although my lips feel nice after taking the lipstick off, that is not the point of using this product. It was a complete disappointment and I will be returning this to the store.

Makes My Little Heart Happy!!

Guys, I'm not very good with doing my makeup. Like at all. However, in an effort to attempt to try some new things out and be more comfortable with something that intimidates the jazz hands out of me. I purchased the Prep + Prime Lip primer. I figure it would be an easy first step. The product showed up and I hesitantly circled around it like it was gonna eat me. But, I finally puckered up my lips and painted it on. To say it is a game changer is a gross misuse of words. This stuff made my lips feel smoother and fuller. I applied lipstick on after the prime and it actually looked better and stayed where it was supposed to all day. All day, all day. Makes lip colour pops out on darker lips also makes it last longer

It has a texture of smooth wax. This product helps to keep my lips hydrated for much longer time compared to when i put only my lipbalm on. I like to layer it on my coconut based lip balm since my lips get very easy to be dry. On its own is fine too. Without it, my lipsticks colour doesn’t pop out just as much (mind you i have quite dark lips) and doesn’t hydrate just as much. Reduces lip lines when put on before lipstick (my lips tend to get chapped and cracked very easily). It also makes my lipstick last longer up to six hours compared to when I’m not using it.

One layer

One layer of this primer is all you need for this gorgeous magic potion to help keep regular bullet lipstick on your lips. Now this isnt a miracle worker, its going to hold your lipstick in place and keep your lips comfortable but its not 100% iron clad hardcore locked in place. I haven't found a product that is truly budge proof against food and drink. But I would repurchase this in a heartbeat. Can't believe I waited this long to try it.It isn't a lip balm, even though it glides on like one, it is a very special formula that I believe only activates once lipstick / lipliner / lip product is applied.Mac please do not discontinue this gem.

The best lip product

I am obsessed with this product. I use it as primer but also just as a balm and it makes my lips so incredibly soft. I have dry lips, I always have and I assume I always will. I live in the south too so lots of humidity and even so, dry lips. I got this at first to help apply my beloved ruby woo, but I've since gone though countless tubes because I love love love it. I can't put any lipstick or gloss on without starting with this first. I carry it in my bag and use it like a lip balm everyday and while it's a little pricey for that, it lasts so much longer than a typical balm would so I'm ok with it.
