Better than your average oats. Thanks very much @bunchteam for this sample. I'd never heard of unstabilised oats and when I googled them it said they're not steamed but on the pack it says they're gently steamed so they're closer to nature. I think they taste better than the other oats but they don't last as long and are best stored in the fridge which is a hassle because they take up fridge space. I like that the package is resealable but it's challenging that the oats are best used within 12 days. It's easier and cheaper to buy normal oats but I might buy these again. One 30 gram serve gives you 62% of the 48 gram whole grain daily target intake. Product of Australia which I made into porridge topped with cinnamon, almonds and honey.

Delicious Oats! I was so exited to try these I had some for dinner . I usually have Oats for breakfast with berries or as a snack with greek yoghurt and stewed apples. This product did not disappoint, they were yummy, easy to prep and filling. I will note that I usually purchase the home brand woolies version of oats. I was curious to see if there was a difference snd to be honest the only thing I found differentiated was the price point. I would buy this product however I would always prefer to go the cheaper option if available, it’s just how I shop.

Less processed - taste like oats. If you like oats but prefer them less processed, then this is for you! Picture below shows normal rolled oats on the left, and Unstabilised Rolled Oats on the right. It appears that Unstabilised Rolled Oats is less... rolled? compared to normal rolled oats. Unstabilised Rolled Oats taste and texture is similar to Rolled Oats. I used it in smoothies, granolas, overnight birchers and cooked on stovetop with milk - it's difficult to tell them apart other than when they are raw. It is also pretty difficult to find, I visited several Woolies before I managed to grab one, and cost slightly more than normal oats. However, if consumption of less processed food is your goal in life, then this might just be for you.

Tasty oats, will buy again! The definition of ‘instabilised’ on the packet is so vague, I still don’t know what it means. The resealable packaging is great! The oats were easy to prepare and the instructions were super easy to follow. The oats are delicious, so smooth and tasty! I’d be keen to buy the product moving forward.

Oats in a sealed bag perfect. I normally buy uncle Toby oats as it is instant oars with assorted flavours. In past I will not buy this oats as it's expensive. I cooked it and places jam. Preserved fruits Honey and sugar for then to choose what toppings n flavour for my family to try. We actually prefer this over the instant oats.. well guess I will b buying this n spending more time on the stove. Def. Going to a staple in my pantry

"Unstabilised"? Thank you for the opportunity to review this product. At more than four times the price per kilogram of the Woolworths Rolled Traditional Oats, this product, when cooked as directed, looks and tastes like... rolled oats. It is my understanding that "stabilised" oats are steamed before packing, to inactivate the lipase enzyme which can break down fat and cause the development of rancid flavours. "Unstabilised" oats have not been subjected to the steaming process and may have a shorter shelf life. With this interpretation of the meaning of the term "stabilised", I was confused to read on the product label that "These organic Australian unstabilised oats are rolled immediately after hulling and are gently steamed, rendering the product closer to ... More"Unstabilised"? Thank you for the opportunity to review this product. It is my understanding that "stabilised" oats are steamed before packing, to inactivate the lipase enzyme which can break down fat and cause the development of rancid flavours. "Unstabilised" oats have not been subjected to the steaming process and may have a shorter shelf life. With this interpretation of the meaning of the term "stabilised", I was confused to read on the product label that "These organic Australian unstabilised oats are rolled immediately after hulling and are gently steamed, rendering the product closer to nature... "At what level of "gentleness" does steaming not "stabilise" the oats? Is "gentle" steaming insufficient to inactivate the lipase, yet sufficient to soften and improve the texture of the product, perhaps? According to the label, the "gentle" steaming "renders the product closer to nature". The verb "render" is defined as "cause to be or become; make". The rolling and steaming do not "render" the product closer to nature. In fact, each process applied to the product would "render" it further away from "nature" (if "nature" means the form in which the oats exist upon harvesting). Perhaps, to avoid confusing consumers, this label text should be re-worded to more accurately explain the role and the outcomes of each stage of processing. If a consumer is going to pay more than 400% of the price of the "traditional" product, surely they are entitled to more of the proof and less of the puffery? Apart from the "organic" status of this product, how do the processes referred to result in a product that is better (in measurable terms) than "traditional" rolled oats?Out of curiosity I compared the nutrient data for this product with that of the Woolworths Rolled Traditional Oats and found that there were only slight differences in the values for macro nutrients such as protein, fat, carbohydrates and sugars... the differences were generally in the magnitude of less than 0. 5 g/30 g serving of raw oats, which is not significant. With five months of shelf life remaining, there was no discernible rancidity in the flavour of this "unstabilised" product. For those who are very concerned about pesticide residues in oats, and can afford the purchase price, this product is an option, however I suggest that such motivated consumers deserve to be provided with label information that is clear and accurate.

Natural and Healthy. Decided last night to make some warm porridge as the weather has been rather miserable!I usually purchase and use Uncle Toby’s brand oats, so I was keen to find out how the Macro brand oats would stand up to Uncle Toby’s. Ok well so I ended up boiling the Macro Oats in full cream milk as I normally would, and I must say the oats turned out pretty much the same as the Uncle Toby’s brand. Once cooked I placed the porridge in bowl added some banana, sultanas and organic honey . Mmmmm so good!!!!To be completely honest the Macro Oats cooked and turned out pretty much exactly the same as the uncle Toby’s brand oats would! Also, the Macro oats tasted exactly the same and most importantly the oats kept their shape and didn’t end up looking like mash ... MoreNatural and Healthy. All in all I can’t fault the product, if anything I would say it is as good if not better then the more expensive and leading brands. Plus its organic, so you know it’s good for you and can be rest assured it’s free from chemicals and additives.

Great porridge. My husband is the porridge eater in our house. has been eating it for years so considers himself an "expert" for this review. He loved the look of the porride, not floury like other instant oats and was impr4ssed that the oats took only 3-4 minutes to cook. Cooked wth half milk and half water and cooked to a creamy consistency. Most enjoyable. Took a while to find the packet on the shelves as we were looking in the Macro section, not on the top shelf with the ordinaryoats. Will buy again and try making Anzac biscuits and "healthy" snack bars for the grandchildren.

Great in Bliss Balls. Today I made Bliss Balls with the oats. They tasted great! I also used some soft and juicy pitted dates and soft and juicy dried apricots too. My recipe is so easy and follows. Bliss Balls1 cup macro oats1/2 cup pitted dates, roughly chopped1/2 cup dried apricots, roughly chopped1/4 cup honey1/2 cup crunchy peanut butter1/4 cup desiccated coconut, (plus extra to roll). Put all ingredients in a food processor and pulse till a sticky dough. Roll dessert spoon size balls and then roll in extra coconut. Sore in an airtight container in the fridge. Makes around 12 to 16

Quality product. .... Well worth itAt $3. 50 for 5oogms as a nutrient dense food you can add to any meal, for example a type of breadcrumb or a steaming bowl of porridge I would eat at any meal time it is extremely economical. Like the Scots I incorporate them into everything. They are less processed than your normal rolled oats, are certified organic and a product of Australia! For the Home Alone Teenager they are cost effective and simple to use. The ingredient ratio = perfectTaste, texture and flavour = yummoDefinitely purchase these ....
