Lives up to promise of rich, nutty flavour. First stop: ingredients list. 100% oats. Excellent. No nasty extras. Origin: 100% product of Australia. Also excellent. But hang on, “packed in New Zealand”? Why send Australian-grown oats to NZ for packing then back to Australia? It doesn't say where they are cut. Seems like pointless air miles to me that our planet cannot afford. These were shelved with the other rolled and quick cook oats, not the other similarly packaged macro branded products – a trick for new players. Organic: not a drawcard for me but neither is it a turn-off. I prefer whole oats but happy to try these, especially tempted by the supposed richer, nutty flavour. I tried them the two ways that I'd normally eat whole rolled oats. Uncooked, stirred into Greek yoghurt. The steel cut oats are too small and hard for eating like this. This is tooth-breaking territory. Definitely not recommended. Cooked, with almond coconut milk. There are only stove top cooking instructions on the packet, but I cooked them in the microwave, as I usually do. Eaten like this, they are safely chewable and the promised nutty flavour is appealling, a rich, pleasant change from whole rolled oats, and tasty enough to need nothing added. 4 starsWould have been 5 without the air miles and being needlessly (to me) organic.

Great texture. I have been using these oats in bread and it gives a lovely texture and flavour. It holds its own during the baking, instead of incorporating into everything else. Love that it's all Australian!Only downside is that it is quite pricey. It's less processed than other oats, so shouldn't it be cheaper?

Excellent Versatile Pantry Staple. These Australian Steel Cut Oats were a fantastic addition to our pantry, as they are excellent for many uses, including the good old warm morning porridge with fruit for brekky, to stretching out the spagbol for tea (in place of lentils, etc). Great quality oats for great value. I will be repurchasing.

Not my first choice. Not my first choice in oats however they still worked. I use oats in my kids smoothies so just subbed these ones this time. Worked fine but if I didn’t have a powerful high speed blender (thermomix) then I’m not sure it would fully blitz them up. I like that they’re organic though
Good product, but not my style. I use quick oats a lot in my baking, and I think I’ll stick to those. these worked ok as a replacement, but they weren’t as soft or chewy and would have required a lot more cooking and soaking, which often defeats the purpose of a quick bake biscuit would be good for someone willing to put in the extra time.
Nice snd healthy. I add this to my cereal. I personally like the flavour. It tastes nice. I also add it to my bread making. It gives my bread extra healthy ingredient. Recommended.
Versatile Healthy Product. Used to just indulging in instant oats I decided to use the sample Organic Steel Cut Oats for an extended family Sunday brekky as we had Nanna & Grandads, mums, dads, kids, babies and people on health kicks and hungry teens! It was with the extra time to create a wholesome pan of porridge oats when feeding a large group and it won hands down amongst the usual popular egg and bacon option. I cooked the whole pack and ran out as people were asking if there was any more when the conversation turned to benefits of lowering cholesterol etc with whole grain oats. Thanks Woolies. This organic oat pack is now on my family's radar!
T-OAT-ally fine. I did some baking with this product, as well as making oats. It tasted pretty good, and I look forward to baking some more things. It's also great that this is an Australian product. However, there are cheaper options available and considering the current state I will probably not be adding these to my shopping list. Tastes good, but the value isn't there
Great breakfast oats. I cooked these oats for the required time for breakfast and they were delicious I added some honey and frozen blueberries, however I like the quick oats for convenience but they are not as nice as these oats, lovely and creamy. I like the organic label and Australian made. wouldn’t buy as they take take too long but that’s just me being a bit lazy.
Very long cooking time. Having tried Macro Quick Oats and loved them, I bought the Steel Cut without reading the packaging. I had heard about them, but not tried. On opening the pack I was surprised that they are hard grains not Oat flakes wondering how my teenagers would accept them. Then, noticed that they need over 15 minutes of cooking time but gave them a go. The problem is that you can't walk away from them once they start to boil so I stood at the stove stirring for most of the cooking time to ensure that they didn't stick to the bottom of the saucepan. The texture is very different to normal rolled oats, more like a grain eg burghul. We served them up in smaller portions than usual as they were very dense. It was mostly my mistake of not having a better look and reading the cooking instructions whilst in the store. I wouldn't have bought them.
