Organic Deliciousness. The Woolies Macro range, including 'certified organic' products has a lot of goodness to sing about. Compared to the Woolies brand regular sultanas (that still claim no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives - despite disclaimer about possible sulphites) they are not as economical, but that is not always the key criterion. These macro organic sultanas just taste great with a flavour that is not just solidly sweet like the Woolies regular ones. They were also softer, as the regulars were a bit more 'bullet'-like and hard in comparison. We use sultanas softened for baking or added to balance out snacks or breakfast creations. Both products are sources from Turkey and the only other ingredient is an oil (different oils used with the macro organics using sunflower). The nutrition information charts have very interesting differences in protein content with the macro organic range having seven times the protein of the regular sultana. Is this due to a different variety of sultana being used? This could explain the apparent better balance of flavour, perhaps?Anyway, a top shelf sultana in flavour and texture that is destined for a repeat buy

They are sultanas. The packaging is distinctive so I headed to the aisle where the other Macro products are. I found the regular sultanas but not these organic ones. They were over in the regular dried fruit aisle. Kind of confusing. Either they should both be in the dried fruit aisle or both should be with the other macro products. I was slightly disappointed in the actual sultanas. I love a good plump juicy sultana but these were a bit dry. They still had 6 months on the Best Before date so I wouldn't have thought they would be dried out. Sunflower oil is added presumably to stop them clumping together- thankfully I couldn't taste this. The packet is resealable and a refund will be offered if I'm not 100% happy with the product. From a little research I believe ... MoreThey are sultanas. Bull pack = big savings. We go through heaps of sultanas here and this organic bulk pack is great value. Easy to seperate sultanas which taste delish straight from the pack. Sultanas are plump and juicy. I portion these into little containers for on the go snacking, add to porridge and baking etc The resealable bag keeps the sultanas fresh and buying this way is much cheaper than the little packs.

Great quality but pricey. I received this as a free sample. I don't normally buy sultanas unless for a specific recipe. I would use them for a sultana cake or to add to muesli. I would normally buy the Sunbeam branded one as it is value for money and the brand is trusted and known. Not that Macro Organics isn't great - I often prefer their nuts over other brands. For this particular product, the sultanas were juicy and soft and kept well in the packaging - I quite like the resealable pack as there is only two people in my household, we don't eat a lot of sultanas and would need to store it for another use. I do find the standard shelf price is rather dear though and would probably only buy this again if 1) I needed sultanas for something specific and 2) these ... MoreGreat quality but pricey. Sweet and Deliciously Juicy. My family puts sultanas in just about everything. I have to admit though I had not tried Macro Sultanas before this trial as they are considerably more expensive than the non organic brands. The first thing I noticed was the see through packaging. I really appreciated being able to see the quality of the product. The packet is also resealable but Unfortunately not recyclable. Macro Sultanas are organically grown. Organic farming has a low carbon footprint and uses no pesticides or artificial fertilisers. This is particularly important for dried grapes as they are one of the top dried fruits which retain pesticide residue. This however was not a deal breaker as most sultanas brands use vegetable oils unless sold as naturally dried. On opening the packet the aroma is sweet although they did look a little dryer than other sultanas I had tried. The taste however was delicious. My family loved this sample and I learnt a lot researching sultanas for this review. This is a product I will definitely repurchase as I really love the Macro range and have realised particularly for sultanas organic is definitely better.

You can taste the difference. My first experience with this product - very hard to find in the Woolworth store I visited. I looked for it at the Macro section. Found the Macro sultanas pack but turned out to be the wrong product (the sample is the Organic sultanas). I then looked for it at the dried fruit section, found all the other brands of sultanas, just not the Macro. I gave up at the end but sent my 15 yo daughter to have one last look. Thank goodness she found it - in a section where Woolies put all the Macro dried fruit/nuts together. Sigh, if it's that hard for me to find, I don't think I will buy it next time. Anyhow, I sampled it and thought it would not be that much different to regular sultanas. But I am totally sold on this product. It tastes so much ... MoreYou can taste the difference. It tastes so much better than the regular home brand sultanas - sweet and juicy (not the sickly sweet type) and more importantly there is no residue chemical after taste, I can really taste the difference and it has definitely persuaded me to go with the more expensive but higher quality product next time.

Better if they didn't contain vegetable oil. I needed a supermarket GPS to locate these Being a Macro organic product, I headed straight to the health foods aisle but not there. I found them in the dried fruit section (which is logical as well). I am a huge fan of organic products and my shopping bill is higher as a result, so I am not surprised that the price for these sultanas are $10. 90/kg. I am also not surprised that these sultanas come from Turkey as there are a lot of organic and conventional dried fruit sourced from Turkey like figs, apricots, dates, etc. I love the fact that the sultanas are organically grown and I support sustainable growing practices. I cannot fault these sultanas however I don't like the fact that they include vegetable oil in the ingredients and you can taste the slight vegetable oil. I steer away from vegetable oil as much as I can. I don't believe dried fruit needs to be coated in oil. I'm not partial to buying things that need to look great, shinny and I definitely don't mind dried fruit like sultanas sticking together. I would only buy these sultanas if they didn't contain the vegetable oil and if I couldn't find Australian organic sultanas.

Not Australian. I am not a sultana lover by any stretch of the imagination, although the 'other half' loves them. I did, however, take one for the team today and ate a small handful of them so that I could give an honest review on them. I also gave a small bowl to the "other half". I was pleasantly surprised at how sweet they were. I still don't like the texture of them but that's not their fault. Overall, they were very fresh, plump and sweet with a mix of large and smaller ones in the pack. I was disappointed that they were grown in Turkey and packed in Australia. I would have thought we had enough grapes in Australia but I might be wrong. The 'other half' agreed with my views also. He is looking forward to having them on his cereal in the morning and I will also use them to make his fruit scones. I found them a bit pricey at $5. 40 compared to the $2 odd that I normally pay for a larger bag but I guess that comes with being Organic. I do not buy Organic anything because of the higher price. I can't really see any specific benefits of anything being organic. Love the resealable bag. They were easy to find in the dried fruit and nut section. I originally went to the Macro Aisle but they only had Macro Australian Sultanas there so went on the hunt and found them. I probably wont buy this brand in the future, mainly because they are not Australian but also for the price but appreciate the opportunity to try them.

Delicious flavour and nice texture. Firstly, this product has very practical packaging. The transparent pack makes it easy to see the contents and once opened, can also be resealed with ease. The product description is clear to read on the front. The sultanas themselves are soft and plump (compared to other sultanas). They have a sweet taste... as all sultanas should. Although I tasted these on their own for this taste test, I usually eat sultanas with other ingredients or use them in recipes such as:- mixed with nuts to provide sweetness to a nutritious snack- used in home baked muffins- added to Moroccan couscous dishes- added to Middle Eastern / Mediterranean rice dishes- added to some cerealsIt must be noted that the sultanas are grown overseas but packed in ... MoreDelicious flavour and nice texture.
