Great tool for cutting back tree roots / branches - cuts through with ease, relatively light for the power, handles well.
This is a powerful tool that cuts like a chainsaw but far safer. I use it for cutting up wood pallets and trimming back trees and bushes. With the correct blade it cuts through tree branches easily and quickly, even going through very thick ones (12-15cm radius). Using the bi-metal cutting blades I am able to cut through nails and screws in wood pallets and can cut a pallet up into small sections in under a minute. The only caution is the vibration on your hands. Use this saw in bursts of minutes, rather than in one go for 45+ minutes as your hands will feel painful with all the vibration. I would recommend this saw over a chainsaw and see it as great value for money.

Great tool; I've recently had to dig out 8 huge tree stumps using spade and jacks; the 20" petrol chainsaw does a wonderful job but not when it comes into contact with dirt when the chain immediately dies needing replacing or sharpening; having resharpened the chain twice this new Makita reciprocating saw arrived and was put to work. Truly outstanding; I could plunge the long blade straight into the soil and go around the stump in a large circle cutting full depth; this severed lots of the upper roots which were preventing using the spade; now with these out of the way I could access the thick heavy roots. I've used a few times so far and it did the job it was designed to do. Not recommended for precision cutting. Great for demolition and removal of old window and door frames.
Did quite a bit of research before deciding upon this one. Met all my requirements, well made, solid.
Was nervous about buying this as never used one before. Found it to be very easy to use, not too heavy and did just what I wanted without it going off course. Would recommend to anyone, also came in a great carry case. Will be a much used tool from now on.
Solid tool, but only use quality blades. Used on tree stumps, performed well.
