Seems generally excellent. Only three reservations. One is the spring ring holding the socket on is sometimes difficult to engage the socket and sockets are not attached securely and can slide off in use when held vertically below tool.Secondly the handle is made for quite small hands and the reverse switch is in the way of my index finger knuckle. I have the same problem but worse with the small 18v Makita impact driver but interestingly not with the Makita drill I have which is much more comfortable to hold. Finally, quite heavy in use. I think I may have gone for the De Walt item if I hadn't already committed to Makita batteries and charger since the De Walt is significantly lighter and a lot cheaper. However I do expect this to last a long time. It seems tough ... MoreSeems generally excellent. Only three reservations. Purchased this model after some time looking at options within the Makita catalogue as I haveseveral batteries and chargers and use Makita exclusively for cordless tools. Thjs model is only a short stretch in price terms from the mid range models and has a significant torque advantage so surely it's a no - brainer? This is a monster. It's easiy capable of anything I have asked of it on normal car suspension and several really gnarly nuts not undone for decades on and old Land Rover, even with a 3.0Ah battery. It will just shear the heads off smaller fasteners and make a mess of non impact sockets though so some care needs to be taken. In my experience so far, turning down the power does take the edge off its bolt snapping ability but that doesn't help the size and ... That weight is actually a help with the bigger jobs so not a failing or issue in my estimation.I've realised I may have more machine than I usually need in this tool but a friend and specialist car dismantler has two Makita impact wrenches and recommended the same approach.I am going to purchase a second bare tool for smaller fasteners and for where this one isn't necessary. It might seem like an odd statement for this review but as I'll use an impact wrench several times a week most weeks I realise this machine is is hugely capable but completely over the top for many jobs where I need speed but not massive torque, a DTW190z in addition costs about £60 and will be ideal for the smaller, lighter tasks, keeping this one for the big jobs.Well recommended, make sure it's what you need though if you only want one machine.

Best tool I have probably ever bought. Undoes wheel nuts without a brace even on minimum. I almost bought a second hand one made by snap but decided I'd go with this. Its got a short body too unlike its competitor, so it can be used without having to have a vehicle up really high.

The impact wrench opens the rusted and hardest bolts with ease. At first it makes that loud knocking sound but it’s only loosening the stuck bolt.Buy it without looking for or comparing it with other impact wrenches
Bought this to get some rusted lug nuts off my car wheels. Breaker bar had failed me but this thing got them off like a hot knife through butter. Another Makita tool added to the collection 👍👍
First project I used this on was a big dock rebuild. Dock had major damage and needed something capable of putting in large long self tapping lag bolts to hold thick metal brackets. Dock is close to 200 feet long so not a small project. Putting in lots of lags was no problem at all and battery life was pretty good. Has plenty of power and I did not need to set to the strongest power position to get the job done. Note this is not a light weight unit like an impact driver..... this is an impact wrench.
Picked up this unit as I was tired of using air tools to swap out my tires a couple times a year, and love it. I swapped out the snow tires on five cars and trucks so far and the battery still hasn't even lost one light so hey that's pretty good in my books. Loads of power and torque, took the snow tires off and slammed on my summers on my 3/4 ton 4x4. The ONLY thing I really don't like is the forward and reverse switch I find are way to easy to bump and change. I cursed it many times this past month. People with big hands will have this issue, those with smaller hands might not have much problem. But other than that, great unit.
Makita DTW1002 - This is a heavy duty cordless impact, I use it for suspension and under body fixings that are stubborn to remove. Its quite heavy so continued use can be tiring but use it for what its meant be used for and its a godsend. I would not use this for engine work or other fixings as its simply too powerful and will easily snap bolts off.
An excellent piece of kit, but it is Massive and heavy and larger than I was expecting.I was replacing an old 1/2 Gun wrench and on the web these all look the same size but when it arrived I was rather surprised. If you need to lug this about/use this all day you will need (or end up with) arms like a Arnold Schwarzenegger. If you don't require such a massive torque figure consider a lower model. The Makita brushless range is the class leader IMO.
Works well and is powerful, but the direction switch is easy to accidently push into the tighten direction when holding sideways. Has happened to me a few times when under my car in tight spaces. Would be 5 stars if the switch could be locked or had more resistance.
