Had to regenerate my decking due to ground movement, install new timber and stabilise the foundations. Lift half the decking boards without damaging them and reinstating them once the repairs were done. Bought the Makita impact driver bare unit as all my tools are Makita. Did what I expected it to do - driving the Timberloks and decking screws soundly home.

I bought this on 30.06.2023 and did not like it as it don't have torque setting and no case with it. I thought I will buy bit expensive tool and took to local CEF shop on Saturday and to swap bit expensive and pay them difference. But they said we will not straight swap as it is power tool and keep swap it straight away and said come back on Monday. I went on Tuesday but they said we didn't receive anything from office yet but will call you once we have received feedback from them. Finally they call me on Thursday and said we can't change this is used now. I used only once that's why I don't like it. Without using can't tell .Conclusion:-Never CEF again. I will recommend everyone to avoid CEF as return impossible if you don't like. Bostin' little impact driver. Shockingly powerful. This is the Mike Tyson of impact drivers. You hardly need to turn it on. Just show it to the screws and they screw themselves in out of sheer terror. Ok, maybe a touch of poetic license, but only just. Put it this way; there's a reason why so many scaffolders use this tool.
Excellent value. Already have two Makita battery packs so bought the body only. Very pleased with the quality and power of the impact driver. Used when making some sleeper raised beds and it made light work of the job in hand. Impressive torque made the job pretty effortless! Would definitely recommend.
Excellent bit of kit. Probably overkill for occasional DIY use but very useful to have around none the less.I bought this as a body only having already purchased an 18v Makita combi drill. The battery from the drill is compatible with this impact driver so at under £60 it was a bargain. The impact driver was delivered well packaged in a Makita cardboard box along with the instruction manual. Build quality is what you would expect from Makita. So far it hasn't seen a great deal of use so I can't comment on its long term durability. As soon as it arrived, I did of course head to the shed and drive as many screws as I could find I to as many pieces of wood that I had laying around. I have since used it to spin off a few rusty bolts on the car as well so I have a feeling it'll be getting a lot of use for the jobs where the 1/2 drive impact wrench would he over kill.Great tool and great service.
Bought this impact driver as a DIY user currently building a timber framed garage. For years I have used a combi drill but it was not really up to the task and I took the plunge with the impact driver half way through. I have other tools on the Makita platform so decided to stick with the brand. I have been really impressed with the other Makita tools I have and was not disappointed by this either. As a DIY'er I went for the cheaper 152. As many others have said, I should have changed years ago. It is a lot quicker to use and drives screws and bolts home easier with less pressure required from the user. It does seem to drain the battery faster than the combi-drill (both brushless) but no major issue - it still does a good few hours' work. I have found that for the really delicate stuff it can be a bit too powerful but that is a minor point and I am mostly being lazy and not doing stuff by hand when I probably should. Overall, a really good buy and I would recommend to anyone. If most of what you do with your combi drill is putting in screws - get an impact driver.
As an avid user of Makita products, I already have the battery packs to operate this tool, so the bargain price from this excellent supplier made it an easy decision to buy. I was fed up with having to change from a drill bit to a screwdriver, and back again, so an impact driver was the answer. I am delighted with the product, which arrived the day after ordering. It is relatively lightweight and compact. The twin work lights make locating screw heads a breeze and the trigger operated variable speed provides excellent control when screwing into softer material, while the impact function makes light work of screwing into harder material. It is necessary to use a special impact driver bit, as standard ones are likely to shatter. My first one went for 8 years straight of daily use. It's been dropped off ladders, roofs, stairs you name it. One day I got a flat on my Silverado, and this was the only tool I had to fix it. Not only did this little drill break lugs torqued at 140lbs, it also torqued the lugs back down to 140lbs. Makita is seriously underrated in north america
I have had a Makita drill /driver for many years, and been very happy with it. But switching between drilling and driving can be a pain on bigger projects, so I decided to buy this driver for convenience. So glad I did! It is SO much better for driving screws than the drill/driver. WAY more power, both for driving and removing. In fact, the only things you need to be careful of are 1) maintaining the bit in the screw head and 2) the speed of driving. Its a bit tricky to get a slow turn, it takes a bit of practice and a steady finger pressure to get this - most of the time the screw just zips in at full speed! I now have a few Makita tools, and several batteries, so buying a drill body was the sensible option. Only one regret in buying this - I should have bought it ... MoreI have had a Makita drill /driver for many years, and been very happy with it. Note: the Z at the end of the model name just means its the body only. Other DTD152 have different letters to show the different options, like an included battery, or charger, or box or whatever. Took me a while to figure that one out!
