After out-of-stock delays, arrived in good order with three heads - plastic cord, plastic blades, and metal blade. Haven't tried the metal yet, but the other two are brilliant in use.Instructions were clear. Does good work at all three speeds and a battery charge will give you plenty of time to work up a good sweat and a thirst. Handles full-grown two meter bracken and brambles with heaviest cord (3mm) and I'm sure the metal blade will make light work of heavier brushwood.

Came with circular steel blade, strimmer and unusual shark shape plastic triple blade attachment (search for reviews: Makita 198426-9). Haven't tried the strimmer or steel blade, as the easy to replace plastic blades work really well even just on low or medium power setting and seem amazingly wear resistant- just as well considering replacement cost. Motor impressively quiet. Today the 5Ah batteries went down to 2 leds after clearing out the banks of a 40m long ditch. I was ready for a break so not too bad I thought. This is the loop type handle version and is a bit cheaper than the T handle. Perfectly OK for me.

Such a good buy. I was a bit worried moving to battery as I’m on four acres but this is wonderful. Cuts through the hard stuff which does drain the battery faster but now I’m on top of the trimming to a normal level, the batteries will do the job. Disclaimer is that I have 6 batteries already due to having other tools and a Makita chainsaw so I don’t really notice when they run flat. It’s very light weight (feels lighter than the two batteries it takes) and such an easy start up it is next level amazing. Has low power modes so if you are trimming in dodgy areas (fences or around glass) you can play it safe. Treat yourself.

The assembly instructions for the bump-head were crap. I did find an online video on how to rethread new line which was very good. I am still trying to establish if I can attach a Matika "blade" instead of a line fed bump-head to this ergonomically designed, battery trimmer.
Excellent product, bought for clreaing thick brambles and exceeded expectations. With the metal cutter on its ideal for cleaning thick undergrowth. Quiet, lightweight and hassel free. I do recommend having two sets of batteries, though this isn't cheap it means you can cut all day if needed.
The brush cutter is a revelation and I am delighted with it.It comes with a two line strimmer head, a metal blade and a nylon blade. I have only used the strimmer and that cuts through coarse grass, bracken and even bramble.It is pretty much silent, very light, well made and runs for about 30 minutes with 3Ah batteries from my drill set.I really disliked using my heavy, noisy and dirty petrol brush cutter.
Bought Makita 18v brush cutter from PTW, arrived earlier than expected and have used once, such a difference to dealing with a 2 stroke engine, just put batteries on and away you go! Good price from PTW!
After years of doing my own gardening & lawns, I found it more & more difficult due to getting a bit older.This brushless line trimmer is so much lighter to use not to mention No more messy fuel refill.I love it & will be Getting more brushless gardening equipment.
It was advertised as a mid range 36v Makita strimmer, body only with a line feeder head enclosed. I was very pleased to find not only a line feeder head with strimmer cable, but a 4 pointed solid metal blade and a nylon tri expanding head. Better than a corded or 2 stroke as it has the ability to reverse the head rotation to unwind any head fowling. It has its limits. I find it a suitable for medium sized garden. If its thin grass? then you can use the 1st or 2nd speed input for longer battery usage. If its thick stinging nettles then you will need full power, reducing battery life quicker. My machine has achieved 45 mins on and off through some of Fenlands finest 9mm nettle stalks with ease.
I bought this and then purchased the three blade brush-cutter attachment. Now have the best of both worlds, a brush-cutter and whipper-snipper (Line Trimmer). The batteries have more energy than myself, they outlasted my energy and still had more to give. Ideal for the heavy to medium brush-cutting with the metal blade attached and ideal for the trimming with the cord head attached. Certainly recommend buying the tool with a double battery charger.
