Makita AF353 Pneumatic 23GA Pin Nailer
The Makita AF353 Pin Nailer from ITS operates at pressures of 65 to 100 PSI or 4.5 to 6.9 bar and includes a built in air blower. It is suitable for 23 Ga (0.6 mm) pins from 15 to 35 mm. The AF353 is equipped with a conveniently located push button type air duster for continuous operation as well as a double trigger for safe and accurate fastener placement. Due to the small diameter, the connection is almost invisible and finishing with, for example, filler is unnecessary. This makes this machine ideal for furniture and interior finishing, such as fixing moldings and ornaments. Depth adjustment with tool allows for flush and countersunk finish while a specialist nose adapter for driving pin nails on delicate surfaces. The AF353 features anti-dry fire mechanism to prevent the work piece from damages and air duster; by pushing the push button, air from the compressor can be by-passed into the air duster nozzle. The AF353 has an easy to see slim nose tip for tight corners along with protective bumpers to protect the work piece and body from scratches. The Nailer also includes a window for checking nails along with an “empty” indicator that turns to red when the remaining number of nails in the magazine become low. The AF353 has an on-tool hex wrench for quick and easy removal of jammed pin nails. The AF353 has a magazine capacity of 130 nails, 23 gauge and drives 15mm to 35mm.

light well finished, works well. Only negative is it should be supplied with a few different air connectors.

Beautiful little nailer - light and easy to use. Works faultlessly without fuss - nail heads disappear unless you go searching for them especially under an applied finish. Makes glue-up so much easier as the pins go in without disturbing the alignment. Cracking little machine.

When it worked, it was great. But after just a few months, it’s on the heap of nailers I have, it jams every few pins and I just can’t get it to work like it did
There is a design flaw in this nailer. If I use a full strip, the nailer jams every pin or two. If I only use 1/3 of a strip, I get about 5-6 pins before it starts to jam. Its a real pain to have to disassemble every 30 seconds to remove jams. This is the only Makita product I've used that I wouldn't recommend/
Works well, ive been using this for a little over 4 months now for small projects here and there. no jams or issues so far, although with a 23 ga how could that jam lol.The only draw back is the safety on this thing gets a bit annoying to work with but as you get used to it you build the reflex of pulling it before the trigger.
I also have the 18g AF506 nailer and this little one matched it on quality. The performance that you'd expect from Makita whilst being very light weight and compact.Only had it for a day and already fired around sixty or so 30mm 23g pins in to 18mm solid oak, no issues so far.Not overly expensive like some of the no-name Amazon types.
Bought this a month ago and I've now used it quite a bit. The size and weight are great, but I'm finding it doesn't work reliably with 3/4" pin nails. I will drive some correctly, then it doesn't. The gun always cycles, but it stops shooting the pins so it just leaves a dent in the wood. I opened the magazine and found that the nail strip had popped up a bit for some reason. I re-seat the strip, close the magazine and then it fires fine for a while, but always stops again. It does not seem to do this with longer pin nails, but I use the 3/4" ones a lot so I noticed it right away.
Makita has always made top quality product and this 23 gauge pin nailer is no exception. It loads easily and fires and sets the pins well. I have to admit I am an aficionado of unique and useful features. Makita's air blower incorporated into the gun is a nice and useful feature. The gun is well balanced a joy to use.
Before leaving Feedback, we tested and tool works fine and reasonably quiet. For the maximum 1-3/8" pins, 80PSI was not quite enough in MDF with some shiny showing, but 90PSI was consistent. A good pin nailer will cost more than a brad nailer because of closer tolerances required for the much thinner 23 gauge... keep this thing oiled.
