This machine does everything that you expect. I do find that the dust bag causes a "blind spot " which one must always be aware of ! Especially when sanding near to edge's of veneer wood ! Other than that, this machine is a pleasure to work with.. Love it.

Bought this to use as a finishing sander on small projects. Brilliant little machine that gathers enough dust to make it very comfortable to use. Fits in the hand nicely and with a 10mm foam interface pad is a joy to use on curved surfaces

Disappointed, after going through about a dozen sanding pads the hook part that holds the pads to the sander will no longer hold pads. They now semi attach but as soon as you turn it on it throws them off. Makita is a great brand, this sander does not live up to their reputation. I gave 2 stars because its one of the few sanders that come with a nice case and the rest of the tool is a quality piece. But needing to pay nearly half the tool's cost to replace a part after a few hours of designed use is unacceptable.

Excellent, compact but powerful sander. I've done our kitchen top, decking, and projects like shelves with this and have been really impressed. Time massively reduced also with good paper. Great DIY'er kit!
Perfect. My first sander. Not too heavy in use, fits very well in a medium size hand and i had no worries about vibration levels which were very low (i used it for hours and had zero problems...with sensitive hands). I really get the feeling that this sander will last a LONG time, very confidence building.I expected the sander to do all the work though, it appears one has to press down an amount to take a good amount of material off.
This is a seriously good piece of kit. It removes paint, varnish and wood in no time and is easy to use being fairly vibration free. The Makita discs seem to last a longer time than others I have used in the past. When connected to a vacuum it is almost dust free on the work surface and surrounding area. Highly recommended.
I am a 68 year old woman, yes, I’ll tell my age! ?? I bought this for myself to sand down the wall edges, doors, cabinets, and woodwork in my bathroom. I have pretty bad arthritis in my hands so I needed one not real heavy, would fit comfortably in my hand, be easy to control, but still get the job done. This is it for me! It’s not a small girlish one, it’s medium sized, so it’s not going to take me forever to get the job done. I love it.
Minimal packaging makes this easy to open, there is only a cardboard wraparound on the plastic case, just rip it off, push the two case buttons to the side, and the case is open. There is an instruction manual, but this is an on/off machine, so not much to learn there. They do talk about taking the adhesive backing off the disc, but most discs do NOT have any backing to remove, you simply apply them to the sander and make sure they are firmly attached. The dust bag actually works, I sanded on a flat piece cross section of walnut wood, and was pleasantly surprised to find most of the dust in the bag. One let down, there was no sanding disc in my box. Now, how cheap can you get. Good tool, makes great addition to your power tool collection.
Nice little sander with plenty of power. Normally use air sanders at work, but wanted something for home. Get tired of the extra step of firing up the compressor and listening to it in the garage. This sander has plenty of power and uses all the same attachments I’m familiar with. Also has a little dust collection bag that is alright, but don’t expect it to collect everything. Switched to Makita cordless stuff after burning up multiple other brands that couldn’t handle daily use. Although this isn’t cordless, it seems like it is of the same quality as my other Makita tools that have held up much better than the competition over the years.
This is a great little sander. I've used the more expensive makita variable speed sander with the side handle, however this sander is 95% as good, for less money and with a case. It's powerful and the dust collection system works much better than I expected. I've used less expensive orbital sanders before, such as a black and Decker with a 2 amp motor, and this is way better. The 2 amp motor sanders work alright, but be prepared to spend a lot more time and effort using them. This is worth the extra money.
