Brilliant piece of kit, typical Makita tooling. It replaces the same one which died after 4 years of almost daily use. Auto torque adjustment is useful. No hesitation in recommending any Makita LXT tool. Found FFX had the best price and it was a hassle free purchase and the saw was delivered quickly. Make sure you register for the extended warranty.

Bought to replace an older model which only worked with maximum 3Ah batteries. This one is now compatible with the home recent 4Ah + batteries which I have. Will be upgrading over time as I hate having some older tools which only operate on 3Ah (max) and others which happily work the more powerful ones. Yes, I could saw bits off the older tools as per YouTube videos but I can sell on the older ones if they are not 'doctored'.

Thought my tools were pretty good until I started changing to Makita. Only just tested this saw with a 5amp battery on 4"x4" oak posts. The oak was still damp inside but this saw combined with Specialist blade just simply went through it like cutting a slice of bread with a sharp knife!! No binding or stalling, straight through with very little effort from me! First brushless saw I have had and absolutely over the moon with it!! *****

I have delayed writing this review until I had a chance to give the saw a serious workout. Having now sawn up a whole lot of 18mm plywood for various jobs, and just sliced off the waney edges of five 50mm thick by 2m long walnut boards for a large table top, I now feel able to do so based on decent evidence. The saw performs well, cutting cleanly and fast. I did all the sawing of the walnut boards on only one battery charge, which was impressive. There is no doubt to my mind that the thin blade in this saw is easier to flex than a standard c 3mm one, which I found meant that there was an increased tendency for the cut line to wander. Equally, a battery powered saw is much easier to stall in the cut if not kept running true, which means it’s a little harder to ... Equally, a battery powered saw is much easier to stall in the cut if not kept running true, which means it’s a little harder to correct if you run off line a bit. I suppose one can’t expect quite the raw grunt power of a mains circular saw from an 18v battery. However, both these issues are more user error than saw defaults, and will be overcome with a little more experience,Build quality, balance and overall usability are definitely up to the usual Makita high standards.Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase.
Fantastic bit of kit. It really is superb. It’s ultra smooth, accurate 90 degree cut and powerful. Yes, it’s not cheap, but I always go with the saying, ‘buy quality, buy once!’ and this really is superb quality. I just can’t get over the difference between this and my old Ryobi. It’s super robust and I’ve used it a lot in a short space of time and it continues to impress. I should have bought it sooner, but I’m glad I have it now. Highly recommended.
Hard to go wrong with Makita and this tool is no exception. Sturdy and well constructed with no shakes and rattles and really does what it says it will. There is a shavings discharge aperture that you can attach a vacuum to, but I didn’t use one. However the shavings didn’t bother me at all. Great view of the cut with right hand on the trigger and left on the forward hand grip. The saw was supplied with a thinner blade than the usual rip saw blade. Still tungsten tipped. Very useful for me as I was doing some kerf bending on 1” x 4” rail. I did over 110 cuts with no fade and still a couple of lights on the battery, so the much lauded brushless technology is worth the mention. Higher revs on the blade also made for easier cutting.Very nice piece of kit.
I use this almost everyday; more so than my 185mm corded Makita circular saw which I've only used several times. It's lightweight, portable, small, and can do what you would also expect from larger saws. You are only limited to the depth of the blade and because the blade is now on the left hand side, cutting is far easier when sighting down your cuts. One draw back is that you are prone to receiving dust on your clothing as the extractor is also the same side as the blade. Over time you will learn to find what works best for you when cutting timber and where to clamp. Apart from this, it's the best tool ever.
Its become apparent that the way to go with power tools just has to be battery driven. My first drill was not a Makita but I realised what a brilliant solution it was for my jobs around the house. I learned that it would be sensible to unify the various tools I used which led me to examine who made what and who provided the best value and quality. For me it was Makita and this saw really has proven that to be true for me at least ! Super fast and well made. It has reduced the effort I used to employ for all manner of cutting jobs and of course the power is transferable to my growing collection of other Makita tools. Im sure others more professional than me have recognised that fact and you just have to look at their reviews to see why. Im very pleased with my decision.
Professional use of the previous brushed model made me switch to this brushless model. Much more positive feel, levers are easier to use and the instant stop is way safer. Battery use is much better especially on rip cuts. Depth indicator on the guard is on the same side as the lever this time which is more logical! You won't be disappointed! Obviously you will if you want batteries and a charger as this is a bare unit.
I originally I purchased a bosh corded circular saw . But unfortunately it was too heavy. So decided to spend a little bit more money on the Makita circular saw. I would definitely recommend this item light wait power output is fantastic easy to use far far superior on any other models. Only downside that you have to purchase battery and charger separately. But if you are DIY or a trade person I would spend a little bit more money and get the Wright gear for the job in the long run can't Go wrong with Makita. I'm so impressed I'm going to change all my power tools to Makita
