Makita DMP180Z Inflator - 18V

I've been looking for a robust and practical car tyre inflator for a while. Having tried (and wasted money on) the cheap plastic ones that proliferate on Amazon, I decided to spend a little more on this Makita. What made it cost effective for me was that I already had the correct Makita battery and charger unit from other Makita products. The pump is very practical and easy to use, has a sensible length connector, and is fast to inflate. So far, can't fault it. This provider sold it at a vey good price including free delivery.

I'm extremely pleased with the Makita tyre inflator. It is quick and easy to use, and much better than a foot pump. I note some reviews have queried the accuracy of the pressure gauge, but I wonder whether those reviewers have stopped the pump too soon by releasing as soon as the target pressure is indicated. If you keep the pump going, it auto-stops after a further 5-10 seconds, and the pressure does not then drop.

I had been tempted for a while to get this pump, Makita DMP180Z.The pump is light. And of the usual robust construction of their tools range.The one downside is the trigger is not auto locking, so you either have to hold the trigger yourself (tedious) or use a zip tie or velcro strap. I use a zip tie, then you can set the pressure, and walk away and do something else while it's pumping.I like that it comes with valve converters, so I can pump my bicycle tyres up easily, presta valve.We have three vehicles and it'll now mean we can keep a better eye on the tyre pressures, without the need to visit a garage and pay or use the foot pump.

I've used the pump to top up and check tires on two cars now. One of the tires is always deflated by 10psi and the pump quickly tops it up. The pressure gauge is accurate and I have checked it against two other gauges to make sure. You need to pump until the pressure shown is 2.5psi higher than you want. When you stop pumping the gauge stabilises and drops to the correct value after 5 seconds or so. The pump comes with various adaptors, three of them are stored on the pump body, but the "english" adaptor is very annoyingly attached to the end of the pipe by a short chain and gets in the way. I think its for doing bicycle tires so for the vast majority its a waste of time. I have detached it. All other electric pumps as found in car tool kits that I have used, have a button, which you press to turn on the pump and press again to turn the pump off. I dont see why this has to be different. So all in all I recommend this pump if you have other Makita LXT tools that share the battery and charger.

This item is awesome. It is so quick and powerful. Very easy to use, it comes with valves for car, bikes ( for both types of inner tube- presta and schreider) , a needle type for sports balls. It has a forward facing led to illuminate the area you need to inflate when natural light is low. There is an illuminated digital display where you can set your required psi, once it reaches the target pressure it automatically stops. So far I've used this on a car, van, motorbike, football, various bicycles and even an inflatable unicorn ( this does take a bit of time due to volume). The inflator has a 5 minute on 5 minutes off cycle.,considering it takes a few seconds to get to 110psi on a road bike, the 5 minute on off cycle shouldn't be any issue. This is an amazing piece of kit! Usual Makita quality, and so easy to pump up tyres, surprisingly fast. Much better than one which runs off the car or van battery, no long trailing leads or hoses. The only advice I can add: get hold of a tyre valve extension piece, because the right-angle connector they supply makes it slightly difficult to connect to recessed valves on some alloys. But 10/10 for operation and convenience.

The product is well designed, robust and functional. Display can be switched between Psi, bar and hPa. The desired pressure can be pre-set, so that the inflator cuts-out at that pressure, or simply manually stopped at required setting using digital display. When turned on an LED light in the inflator provides illumination for the working area. On-board stowage for adaptors for bicycles, etc. Lead neatly clips to body side for stowage.

The usual Makita build quality (superb). This has a strong compressor and inflates quick, is surprisingly compact, the batteries are great for those that have bought into the Makita family. Do what i did though and chop the hopeless handle valve lock off and replace it with a screw on straight through. You can set the pressure prior to inflation and it stops when it is achieved. Sturdy

It pumps quite fast. Has a little light. And has safety features light auto cut out when you have not connected the valve properly. And I pumped my ball up in no time. My tyres need 55 lbs of pressure and saved me using one of those stand up bike pumps. 100 compressions on the bike pump did 2 lbs of pressure but this machine was doing the this equivalent every 15 secs it seemed like. I would buy it again. And who has a car cigarette lighter at the beach with those other pumps?

This product is not a Makita product!!!

Having re-read the description, it says 'For Dmp180Z' - it should read 'Replica of Dmp180Z'. My official Makita batteries do not fit properly, they work, but do not fit properly (too tight to house the battery correctly). Product appears to work ok, but being a knock off I don't know how long it will last. Am disappointed by the misleading description.
