Makita UC4041A 1800W 40cm Electric Chainsaw

Well made robust and powerful tool as I expect from Makita. I was choosing between this and the battery powered version and really pleased I went with this mains powered one, the cable is not a big issue when using so it’s ideal for logging at home. Comes with a very short flex though so you need to provide a robust lead with single trailing socket.

The Makita UC4041A/2 is an improvement on my old B&D. This one has an automatic oil feed system, which will take some time getting used to. With my B&D you pumped the oil and saw it appear on the chain. This one, the oil is supposed to appear as a mist at the far end of the chain, adjusting a screw to govern the rate of oil flow. At least l won't forget to pump now and again.A vast improvement is the tensioning of the chain. No more spanners and screwdrivers. Just loosen the chain guide big screw, by hand, and turn a dial. Magic. There's a brake system, which means it won't start at all, but when off it does stop very fast. Cable is long. Easier to clean.Conclusion: A nice chainsaw for normal household use.

Great product so far after 2-3 hours of use. Bought this as an addition to an existing petrol chainsaw as I was working closer to the house. Much lighter to handle and less maintenance than having to mix and refill petrol, electric cord long enough to make sure you can keep the lead out of the way. Really easy to clean and good push/pull guard as extra safety measure. Chain does loosen and needs tightening every now and that but that's chainsaws in general, tightening the chain is easy enough. Recommended.

Disappointed in durability

Last less than one day before the plastic widget used in aligning the tension slide with hole in guide bar #2 in step 9 (removing and installing chain) broke away while I was using the chain saw to trim small branches less than a finger in diameter. What I thought would be a five minute tidy up job resulted in the guide bar moving loose and the teeth from chain got embedded in the sprocket cover.

Excellent only matched by a matching corded electric hedge trimmer.

Fantastic electric corded chainsaw, have had one for 4 yrs absolutely flawless. Check oil level regularly.Light weight. In comparison with a 2 stroke , no starting issues. Limited range to length of extension cord.

Excellent quality, very useful tool.

Bought to remove a fallen tree in the garden but not expecting anything special to be honest. Actually it's an impressive piece of kit, very well made, it feels like a 'professional' tool and will be very useful in the future for cutting up logs. I have a petrol chainsaw but it doesn't get used enough to be a reliable starter. Dealt with the whole tree in under an hour, never felt like it was straining. There is a newer model for more money but this was fine for us, and a very good price.

JOKE MAINS LEAD

I had a very similar MAKITA chainsaw for many years, which stood up to a lot of serious work, but did go through a number of bars. This one looks as well made and expect the same from it. BUT I was gob smacked at the joke lead it comes with. The lead is 400mm (16") long with bonded on plug. ( are they taking the pi##?) I will now have to get and fit a proper lead. As it is the plug and extension socket are going to get snagged everywhere along with dangers of water getting into the connection. changing this will probably invalidate the warranty too. I'm not one for putting pen to paper, but this really pi###d me off. You have been warned

Makita Chainsaw

I have a petrol chainsaw and its fine for use when I'm out. But I live in a built up area and use logs for my log burner. I got this hoping it would be ok to cut small logs up. Well I must say its a great bit of kit. East to set up once out of the box, a bit of chain oil plug it in and away you go. This chainsaw is very quiet and works very well. If this broke for some reason I would order another one. Not only does this cut down on the noise but Ive tried it in small logs and large and it cut with ease. I know a new chain cuts almost anything but I have used it a lot and its great. Simply if you have a log burner and like me often cut your logs up near the house get one of these. Makita chain saw manual short fall

excelent machine as are all makta products, however the instruction manual fails to tell the risks of vibration injury, it mentions gloves should be worn and little or nothing about the effect if you do not wear gloves or what type of glove tp wear. after two hours of enjoyable use the following day I was unable to move my left hand, the doctor informed me that I had badly damaged the muscles. Through the internet I discovered that anti vibration gloves should be worn, never heard of them and had worn my normal fairly heavy gardening gloves, a whole range of anti vibration gloves are available on e bay which of course I will obtain before I use the saw next.. The product is first class let down by Makita`s failure to properly inform the user of the dangers.
