The flavor reminds me of coarse sea salt, but it’s more delicate. The crystal size varies, with some large square and pyramidal flakes, which impart a lovely flavor. I think the Portuguese and French sea salts have impressed me more, but it could also be Maldon’s process that produces more dust and small flakes. We’ll use it to create our own “everything bagel” mix.

Salt is salt is salt, right? Sodium chloride, blah blah blah.Er, no. Table salts all have different trace elements that change the flavour. Added to the different elements in Maldon's salt, there's also the cute pyramid-shaped crystals. Pretty and also nice to crumble between your fingers. It's worth a try to see if it changes the way you use salt. If you ever want to make salted chocolate brownies (you need to make salted chocolate brownies) this is the salt to use.

I always use sea salt flakes, love Maldon's one, tad bit expensive and I absolutely hate the box!!! I even have to place on top of a tray-like plate to catch continuous falling flakes. But it is still wasteful as the moment you move the box, salt just comes tumbling out everywhere. My only solution is to transfer the whole contents into a jar and then pour a daily amount into a small holder each time for cooking and seasoning.

I received this as a freebie (thank you Ocado), and I just tried it for the first time. Wow! Im so used to cooking with fine or coarse sea salt, and have only had flakes in restaurants. Well, these flakes are great, it gave a different (better!) flavour to the fried steaks, and it made the salad alive with flavour. And I just thought that salt was just salt, well its not. This product is on another level! If you havent tried it, you should.
Good stuff..soft and slightly crunchy flakes with a delicate flavour. Far better than hard rock salt or the household free running stuff.
This salt is our household's favourite. Unless a recipe strictly calls for your usual table salt these sea salt flakes are our go to. We just put them in a small sauce bowl that's easy enough for us to pinch out of.
For the last 12 mths, this product has been the same - larger, tougher crystals meaning a tsp or pinch is much saltier, and much hard to grind in your fingers (as normal). I even contact Maldon to see if there was a reason for the changes? They couldn't even be bothered to respond.. so perhaps some internal issues across production and customer service.. Changed to a different brand in the end.
I always thought sea-salt is sea-salt? I was wrong. Maldon's harvested flakes are superior to any other sea-salt I have ever tried.
salty and crunchy. Great for cooking, salads, sandwiches. Tried to find a cheaper alternative but this is just the best. Cornwall seasalt has a similar texture but much less flavour. Cosher salt is too salty and grain is too small so easy to overdo it. Kala Namak is very specific and not for everything. Can't go wrong with Maldon.
... but it didn't. I tend to not use salt. when I do, I need it to taste like salt. I'm adding full spoons of this, and still doesn't work. I'll buy salt from the Mediterranean sea next time...
