Marantz NR1200 Stereo Receiver, Hifi Amplifer For Home Cinema, 5 HDMI Inputs & 1 Output, Bluetooth, WiFi, Airplay 2, Google Assistant/Siri/Alexa

Bought this to simplify the living room and replace HDMI switcher, separate DAC etc. A stereo HDMI receiver is a rare thing so not many options to choose from, but this does everything I want. I have Dali Ikon 1 and Leema Xero speakers and the amp drives both (the Dali Ikons match better). Sound from HDMI sources is great, as is music from old Sonos ZP90 via digital coax. I like the subwoofer integration.The caveat: HEOS is junk. The receiver fails to play music from USB and I've failed to connect it to my servers. It's OK for internet radio but that's about all.I'm not too bothered because we have an established Sonos network which is more convenient to use anyway. Since buying this amplifier 2-3 weeks ago, I am enjoying the very clear sound it produces and from so many possible sources. It has no "loudness" setting or graphic equaliser which is a shame, so bass and treble are not super-strong but still good. It has more numerous inputs than I have equipment to attach, but this is not matched for outputs to other equipment - I think it only outputs to a CD recorder, but I haven't yet found my old CDR optical cable to try this. The lack of outputs is something I did not expect. However, the 2 speaker outlets work well, with all the speakers clear. Links with Alexa also works for "on" "off" and changing the volume which is very useful. This was due to the number of wires from my previous system that needed reallocating and understanding the menu system - it took so long I had to spread it over quite a few days. Gone are the days when a device's buttons had a name and did one thing. The user manual (online) is long, but still doesn't answer all questions that come to mind. Overall, I like it. I guess most tech these days is challenging. Bring back simplicity!

My old Marantz 610 mini system, which was purchased from Richer Sounds 9 years, gave up earlier this year. I was gutted and hoped it could be fixed but after sending it into the tech guys, replacement parts couldnt be found, Marantz no longer make the parts.So I had a search about on the Richer Sounds website for a replacement and opted for this Marantz NR1200 Network Stereo receiver. I never really used the CD player on the old set up so thought the new NR1200 with streaming and airplay would be perfect. All the specs on the amp were great, 2 x 135w and could easily power my speakers. It arrived on Tuesday but was sadly faulty, not the fault of Richer Sounds either. A replacement was sent out that same day and arrived Friday. I use it in my design studio which is 50sqm and the sound fills the room perfect. A fantastic upgrade from my old Marantz.Many thanks to James in the Edinburgh store for helping me out with trouble shooting, he dispatched a replacement amp and I ordered some new upgraded cable. Very happy with my new set up. Next purchase will be a turntable so I can get the old vinyl out the loft. :]
