Bought this to simplify the living room and replace HDMI switcher, separate DAC etc. A stereo HDMI receiver is a rare thing so not many options to choose from, but this does everything I want. I have Dali Ikon 1 and Leema Xero speakers and the amp drives both (the Dali Ikons match better). Sound from HDMI sources is great, as is music from old Sonos ZP90 via digital coax. I like the subwoofer integration. The caveat: HEOS is junk. The receiver fails to play music from USB and I've failed to connect it to my servers. It's OK for internet radio but that's about all.I'm not too bothered because we have an established Sonos network which is more convenient to use anyway. Since buying this amplifier 2-3 weeks ago, I am enjoying the very clear sound it produces and from so many possible sources. It has no "loudness" setting or graphic equaliser which is a shame, so bass and treble are not super-strong but still good. It has more numerous inputs than I have equipment to attach, but this is not matched for outputs to other equipment - I think it only outputs to a CD recorder, but I haven't yet found my old CDR optical cable to try this. The lack of outputs is something I did not expect. However, the 2 speaker outlets work well, with all the speakers clear. Links with Alexa also works for "on" "off" and changing the volume which is very useful. This was due to the number of wires from my previous system that needed reallocating and understanding the menu system - it took so long I had to spread it over quite a few days. Gone are the days when a device's buttons had a name and did one thing. The user manual (online) is long, but still doesn't answer all questions that come to mind. Overall, I like it. I guess most tech these days is challenging. Bring back simplicity!

My old Marantz 610 mini system, which was purchased from Richer Sounds 9 years, gave up earlier this year. I was gutted and hoped it could be fixed but after sending it into the tech guys, replacement parts couldnt be found, Marantz no longer make the parts. So I had a search about on the Richer Sounds website for a replacement and opted for this Marantz NR1200 Network Stereo receiver. I never really used the CD player on the old set up so thought the new NR1200 with streaming and airplay would be perfect. All the specs on the amp were great, 2 x 135w and could easily power my speakers. It arrived on Tuesday but was sadly faulty, not the fault of Richer Sounds either. A replacement was sent out that same day and arrived Friday. I use it in my design studio which is 50sqm and the sound fills the room perfect. A fantastic upgrade from my old Marantz. Many thanks to James in the Edinburgh store for helping me out with trouble shooting, he dispatched a replacement amp and I ordered some new upgraded cable. Very happy with my new set up. Next purchase will be a turntable so I can get the old vinyl out the loft. :]

My 21 yr old Teac amp was playing up so popped into Cheltenham branch, spoke with manager Jason about options; repair or buy new. After a couple of days decided to purchase the Marantz NR1200. I mean, I use the stereo more than the car and I’ve replaced them often enough. Setting it all up with WiFi was a bit fiddly but got there in the end. Christened the NR1200 with Led Zeppelin IV CD (I know, how mean is that?) and wow! What a sound, blooming brilliant. Great sounds too from DaB radio, vinyl and through iPhone on Bluetooth. And reproduction with that was just as Jason said, a much crisper sound cos it uses the WiFi router rather than transmitted via Bluetooth over the phone. So, I’m a very happy bunny, thank you Cheltenham team
Bought this last week, great match with my new Focal Chora 816 floorstander speakers. The amp is quite compact making it easy to fit in an existing AV rack. Very powerful sounding even at pretty high volumes, no hint of aggressiveness or strain. I have a Tangent CD player connected via optical, the amp built-in DAC seems to do a great job. It is great that Spotify works out of the box, no need to use the HEOS app. One slight disappointment is the internet radio capability relies on Tunein operated via HEOS, unfortunately it blocks access to many overseas stations. I cannot understand why given I get unlimited access to internet radio stations from my Roberts Stream unit (natively) -- so not a legal requirement. It is a real shame as internet radio is really great ... MoreBought this last week, great match with my new Focal Chora 816 floorstander speakers. It's great as a cost effective power amp, dab+, internet radio, and playing from a usb memory stick. The apps are good except as mentioned below. However it has quite a few annoying aspects:A) To use Zone2 you need to buy HEOS speakers. There are only three different options, differing by size. These options all do most of the features the amp has,So you paying a lot of money for duplicate features, which is ridiculous and when I spoke to someonefrom Richer Sounds they couldn't understand my issue;B) You need to use two apps Marrantz and HEOS, so it's not user friendly;C) DAB+ tuning was quite unintuitive and laborious;D) When I added more mp3 files to the USB stick the playback kept pausing, but that may be an issue with the USB stick.
While it's true this little receiver is only two channels at 75 watts per channel, it is the IDEAL choice for TV viewing in a non-theater stereo only environment. It's five HDMI inputs provide plenty of choices for different component hookup to my 65" Samsung HDTV. I personally am using three of the five HDMI inputs, one for a BluRay, one for a Roku streamer and one for a Tivo receiver. Those inputs along with the WiFi, Bluetooth and the HEOS features allow for a VERY easy integration into my existing HEOS network. This allows me to use the receiver for TV viewing or multiple room audio "Party Mode". This is a feature filled purchase option for those folks needing only two channels for a non-home theater type of environment. I recently purchased this Marantz stereo receiver to substitute for a substantial Pioneer amp. It was compact, stereo only and had more features than I will probably ever use. So far I’ve barely scratched the surface.I have it connected to my TV via Arc, a Pioneer SACD player that I also use as a DAC, a Roksan turntable also from Richer Sounds and a Blu Ray player…..hardly used these days. The HEOS app is useful for streaming from my phone but I’ve other devices for that too.As an Amp for my TV it works flawlessly with ARC and provides a rich, full sound through a pair of Mission speakers. Where it shines though is with music. The Phono input for this price is exceptional helping the Roksan deliver a level of quality I haven’t heard in any previous turntable. ... MoreI recently purchased this Marantz stereo receiver to substitute for a substantial Pioneer amp. With CD, SACD or High def streaming the clarity, and tone ( used in direct mode) is stunning.I’ve hardly tried the Internet radio or its own on board DAC but suffice to say this Marantz Receiver punches well above its price point.Of course Richer Sounds excellent service adds the cherry on top.
I wanted to update my music system but in doing so came across the NR1200 - which gave me the idea that maybe I could update the television soundbar and the music system at the same time. Living in a small house, I don't have much space and speaker positioning is challening at best. The NR1200 allows me to run two sets of speakers, one positioned for music and one by the television from the same system - and sounds great. For music, I am using some old Dali Zensor 1s and for the television the new small Dali Spektor 1s. Though one can add a subwoofer, I'm suprised by how good the Spektors are relative to the soundbar they replaced and likely won't need to at least for some time. I'm hearing new aspects of music I have listened to for years and know well via the Zensors and the Spektors are a fantastic upgrade to the old soundbar. I'm no audio expert but had little trouble setting it all up; it linked to Amazon Alexa (via HEOS) with no issue and it is great to have internet radio as well as DAB (and FM though I do not use that). Streaming via Spotify works well via Spotify connect. I'm realy pleased with this set up, I feel I am rediscovering or even discovering some albums anew. I shop at Richersounds because the advice is always helpful and I feel they want to ensure you are happy with what you choose. Also it's pleasing to be dealing with an ethical company that recognises supporting staff and society are as important as a profitable business. I'd recommend this product for the type of set up I've described, as long as you do not want 5.1 Surround Sound for the television its ideal.
A rather ancient AVR long retired to a second system bit the dust with a phut, necessitating a replacement. Needed to be streamable, Roon-able, and would be handy to have HDMI when you just want the TV in the second system to a bit beefier. This so called Post-AVR fits the bill very well. It is Roon Tested rather than Roon Ready but it works fine straight out of the box, looks good in the living room and has a decent FM/DAB tuner thrown in too. A lot of functionality for the money. Speaking of which RS were able to match the best price I could find and throw in an even better guarantee. Was ready for me to collect in a couple of days. I dont do any critical listening for this system. Just want it to work. It does and offers a fairly compelling USP of doing ... MoreA rather ancient AVR long retired to a second system bit the dust with a phut, necessitating a replacement. As ever a pleasure to do a deal with the lovely folk at RS Newcastle.
