I purchased this amp and its sister CD player to replace my Arcam R8 amp and Kenwood DP- 3080 CD player, hoping for a small upgrade in sound. What I got was exceptional. Playing Fleetwood Mac Tango in the Night on CD, I was immediately impressed by the clarity of every instrument and in particular the finish of every note down to the last vibration. The stereo arch is also a wonder, being able to pick up the positioning of every instrument and vocal and being able to focus on any individual part if so wished. The overall sound is just a fantastic experience and on albums I am very familiar with I am discovering previously unheard sounds. With a good pair of speakers this is one of the best amps I have ever come across. An absolute steal at this price.

I bought this after reading reviews, (mainly What Hi Fi). My main criteria was the sound quality.I am only using the amp through mid priced bookshelf speakers, so it's unfair of me to be critical regarding sound. I would just say, however, that on my system, the instruments are crisp and clear but vocals less so.My other comment would be regarding the size, which is to me, surprisingly large. I would suggest you see the amp physically before buying if this could be a concern to you.The look is also a bit dated to be honest, with large clunky buttons (when compared to say Cambridge Audio equipment).Overall, I am reasonably happy with the amp, but don't believe it lives up to the reviews I have read.Bought in store at RS, service was great.(Yes I know, why ... MoreI bought this after reading reviews, (mainly What Hi Fi). Having gone back to vinyl and having bought a turntable from Richer Sounds, I decided to stop using my old Sherwood amp and buy a new amplifier. When I took the box off dpd I was suprised at how heavy the amp was. Being a pensioner I have always associated heaviness in electronics with quality. Five minutes to connect up to my audio-techinca turntable and my Bowen & Wilkinson speakers. Very impressed with the sound as I was not sure 45 Watts per channel would really put it out. The sound was bright and punchy. I preferred the direct input button on slightly, better sound and response but very little in either setting. I put my 1973 CBS war of the worlds LP on and turned it up. What a thrill to listen to vinyl again on a decent amp after all these years. In 197 the double album cost me £6.20, looking forward to the other 50 or so albums I pulled out of the loft. Great amplifier. Only thing missing is a couple of Brazil 240 sockets on the back for CD and turntable, to save using a couple of 3 pin sockets.

I bought the PM6007 three years ago (and the CD6007 too) and it actually drives a pair of Triangle Borea BR08 floorstand loudspeakers, no problem at all with their minimum impedance of 3.3Ohm.Very satisfied of its sonic performance, the bass is full and deep, the highs are detailed, the declared 45W are enough for my 34m^2 living room, website Audio.com.pl tested it and found 64W @ 8Ohm and 81W @ 4Ohm at 0.1% THD, so better than declared.Using its optical input you can connect it to a smart TV and listen the TV audio via the external HiFi speakers, much better than a soundbar!A pity it hasn't the Bluetooth input too but I use a cheap external BT receiver with Optical out so I can use its good AK4490 internal DAC.Would be perfect if it would have the "Pre ... MoreI bought the PM6007 three years ago (and the CD6007 too) and it actually drives a pair of Triangle Borea BR08 floorstand loudspeakers, no problem at all with their minimum impedance of 3.3Ohm.Very satisfied of its sonic performance, the bass is full and deep, the highs are detailed, the declared 45W are enough for my 34m^2 living room, website Audio.com.pl tested it and found 64W @ 8Ohm and 81W @ 4Ohm at 0.1% THD, so better than declared.Using its optical input you can connect it to a smart TV and listen the TV audio via the external HiFi speakers, much better than a soundbar!A pity it hasn't the Bluetooth input too but I use a cheap external BT receiver with Optical out so I can use its good AK4490 internal DAC.Would be perfect if it would have the "Pre Out" + "Ampli In" RCA loopout so you can connect an external analog signal processor (e.g. an equalizer) or use the power amplifier stage to drive the main speakers in conjunction with an AVR receiver. Conclusion: I would buy it again!
After spending a few weeks looking for a new hifi set up on various websites and even considering purchasingrefurbished equipment from other brands I opted to walk into Richer Sounds and see what advise I could getto help me make up my mind. So glad I did. I spoke to Jamie (Plymouth branch) he talked me through variousoptions, his knowledge and answers to my questions is first class. I settled on the Marantz PM6007 amplifierAnd Marantz CD6007 with Q Acoustic 3030i speakers. This was to complement a Audio Technica 120XUSBWhich I had also purchased from the same shop some years ago but felt I was not getting the best out of it.As expected everything supplied came really well packaged and was so easy to set up. After owing the Marantz PM6004 some years back, I insisted I would never buy Marantz again after it became faulty a month after the standard 2 year warranty had run out, and after Marantz refused to help fix it. So I went back to my vintage Pioneer A-605R amp instead. Then, I noticed this Boxing Day sale item that I couldn't refuse, especially as it came with a 6 year warranty included in the price. And what a difference it has made to my listening pleasure. No wonder KEF used Marantz amplification when introducing their new Q series speakers back in 2010. I use the KEF Q500's and a vintage Marantz CD63 KI cd player and this amp is just brilliant. The old Pioneer amp sounds dull and lifeless in comparison. Other reviewers have mentioned the punchy bass it offers - and it really does. It shows up different depths of bass notes that my old amp just didn't. And the clarity of the vocals and instruments are astonishing.Needless to say, I'm very pleased with the amp, the quick delivery after Christmas and the security of knowing it's covered by a 6 year warranty if this unit goes wrong after 25 months, like my previous Marantz amplifier. And of course the sale price of this originally priced £500 amplifier puts it definitely in the 'bargain category'!Buy with confidence 👍
Having had a trusty Marantz PM4000 amp that has given great service for over 20 years.I decided to go for something a little more up to date. The 6007 does the job and delivers nice detailed sound, especially when playing vinyl. It is paired with QA Concept 20 speakers wired with Cambridge Symphony 400 cable and an Onkyo C7030 CD player (from RH) which again gives a pleasant enough sound reproduction. If I have one criticism,it would be a lack of rich base which was never a problem with the PM4000.I guess this is why Marantz have added the facility to add a subwoofer which hopefully should give that little extra oomph (which the Mrs keeps telling me isn't as punchy as my previous Marantz) This is not major criticism, it's probably a case of ears tuning into ... MoreHaving had a trusty Marantz PM4000 amp that has given great service for over 20 years.I decided to go for something a little more up to date. I needed to replace my Cambridge Audio Azure 640R AV Receiver, which gave up recently , hence I needed a good quality sound. I decided that I did not need the sound surround or radio, so went for a good amplifier. Used alongside my Linn Basik turntable and Cambridge Audio Azure 751 Blue ray DVD, and Monitor Audio Bronze BX2 the sound is very impressive especially. My focus was on the quality of sound rather than other gimmicks and it is evident this is where the money has gone on the Marantz. Listening to a wide range of music types, rock, classical, jazz, reggae, I have noticed there is plenty of bite and attack and a solid bass( I use a 300W monitor audio sub), it is easy to pick out certain instruments and some sounds which I hadn’t noticed before. The amp has a top quality toroidal transformer and the speakers can be bi wired, there’s a sub out.I am very pleased with the sound from Marantz. The downsides are the remote control is very flimsy and light and looks cheep, especially compared to the Cambridge Audio,(however it is quite large so easy to use), also the amp does not display the volume anywhere , so you could drop the needle on the record and unwittingly blast the speakers..I have bought all my HI FI and TVs from Richer Sounds over the past 12 years and rate their advice from knowledgeable helpful staff who are not pushy, and obviously have a passion for music. I got a free 6 year warranty with this purchase as a VIP member.
I bought a maranz record deck and amplifier for my husband for Xmas. He loves this as he is an avid vinyl collector. It has a clear rich sound and lovely tone. I bought the speakers on stands and a unit to display the equipment. It was delivered the following day and everything was easy to assemble. Richer sounds in Middlesbrough has lovely staff who were very helpful and knowledgable who made it easy for me to decide what I needed. I had previously been to bigger stores but they had li.ited stock and their staff were even less helpful. I'm an amateur but k ew more than them. So thank you to Richer Sou ds in M'bro for making my experience of buying g audio equipment a delightful experience and making my husband a very happy man.
I bought this to replace an Arcam Alpha 8 which had served me well over the past twenty or more years. The PM6007 performs well with the CD6007 which I also puchased recently. Hence, similarly my Logitech remote allows me to select 'the source as optical as part of an activity but it isn't always the correct option.
