I'm writing this review just based off looks and fit - have not tried it in the rain yet - so may have to amend the review once I've tried it for what its actually intended for. I bought the Blue Minimalist version in large. I'm 5'9" 180# athletic build. The large fits nice, the arm length is a little long but with the Velcro works well so your sleeves aren't over your hands. zipper works fine and it doesn't make too much noise. I might could have gotten away with a medium but didn't have both to try on at the same time. The hood is nice with a stiff brim. Hope it works out well for whats its intended to keep me dry, will update later on.

Great looking lightweight coat- I am still in lockdown so have not had chance to wear it and test whether it is waterproof but it looks very well made.I am 5'9, 195lbs 43 inch chest and bought XL which is a great fit if you wear a fleece underneath. Sleeves could be shorter but not a problem . I am thinking of ordering another minimalist jacket !. Prompt service and delivery.

I used this jacket to climb up to the top of Mount Washington.Weather was 70+mph winds with Freezing rain.I had the put zips open the whole time and only had on two light layers underneath. This jacket did awesome. The hood was a lil snug with my climbing helmet but nothing un manageable. The jacket is tough. I was scraping against some sharp tree branches on the climb up and nothing. On the decent down the weather turned from freezing rain to a torrential down pour. The jacket never wet through. I love this thing. It is pretty light weight and can be rolled up pretty small to pack in my bag. You want a do it all jacket that can handle anything and also looks pretty cool. Go with this. I got a XL to size over all my layers for when it’s really cold. I was looking for a goretex jacket for a while before settling on this one, a lot of them have great features if you're doing some serious outdoor stuff but some of us don't need all of that. It lives up to its name sake, as it has the essentials like velcro cuffs, adjustable hood, waterproof breast pocket, light weight, and of course it's water proof. The front zip and pit zips are not sealed for waterproofing themselves but covered by flaps, which work just fine for me. This jacket is also on the quieter side compared to other goretex jackets, as many sound like a bag of chips being ruffled, but still audible.
The jacket worked like a charm during one of Boston’s recent windy rainy winter days. The jacket was completely water proof. I had no leakage walking 10-15 minutes without an umbrella through pouring rain and 40 mph winds. The hood is well designed and stayed on tight in the strong winds. The jacket is true to size. I am 5’11” and 150 lbs and the jacket small fits just a little tight. I am not able to wear many layers underneath.
Don't buy a Marmot product. Their customer service is the worst you can think of.They will treat you disrespectfully and your case will take forever to be taken care of.The jacket itself is nice at first, like any similar product, but its longevity and efficiency is poor. After a year, the dwr will start to fade off, and even after proper treatment it will never be like it was at first.Get another product from another brand. Find a brand that has local customer service and that treats people with respect.
I needed jacket that was water proof as well as keep me warm. This jacket performs both functions amazingly. It is so warm that there are zippers on the side, under the arm pit you can unzip to release some heat and still stay dry. The color was exactly as on the site. quick delivery. Made of high quality durable materials. Price is a little high for what it is, but you get what you paid for. This jacket will last me for years.
Good windbreaker. Decent Waterproofing. Good Fit.It breaks wind really well, I feel solid in it.Waterproofing is a little sub-par compared to what I expected. Rather than rolling off my shoulders, it kinda soaks into the jacket. Kinda opposite of what I expected from a GORE jacket. I stay dry in it though, even through a heavy storm.Fit is STELLAR. Size medium fit my 5'11 170 lb frame perfectly. Nice hoodie and great pockets.
My requirements for a hiking rain shell were:Gortex = waterproofBright Color (we hike in active hunting areas)Chest PocketPit ZipsHelmet-Compatible HoodAnd this jacket fit the bill. Honestly, I wanted an Arctyrex but didn’t want to spend $ 400.I used it hiking in the rain yesterday and to teach skiing in the rain today and it held up great, keeping my dry throughout. Even had the hood over my ski helmet, worked great.I have a Marmot tent and sleeping bag and this jacket is of equal high quality. You will not regret purchasing this jacket for rainy or windy weather !
I bought this a week ago and it's a great fit, although if you wear thick base layers you might want to upsize. I'm sized small and got great fit with sweaters, but feels tight with down jacket mid layers. The hood is not that roomy (just right, though i might be wrong to assume this is designed to go with helmets), havent tried it with helmet yet but I'm sure it wont fit. Upsize will be needed if you wear helmet. The material also looks good, not very noisy when moving, and slight feel that it is not that durable. I have Arc'teryx beta AR and it was really noisy when moving unlike this one with Paclite Gore tex.As for durability, it doesn't feel as rugged as Arc'teryx but will do the job on minimal activities. The material doesn't feel like it will last when tortured, hence the word minimalist. Overall a great jacket for minimal activities like hiking, biking or going to work.
