Extremely versatile amp. I play a lot of electric blues but I grew up on hard rock/metal. Today I also play a little bluegrass, country, classical, pop and whatever suits my mood at the time. But at the end of the day, I usually revert to a heavier sound. Now the Marshall has a nice clean sound, although not as clean as my old Fender Pro Reverb. You can't have everything. Where this amp really shines is in its ability to generate anything from mild overdrive to extreme high gain. With this amp I can get high gain harmonics that I could not get from other amps, even with heavy gain effects. The only negative really is that the amp is quite physically heavy.

Anyone who knows Marshall, knows, that this JVM series is ferocious. True Marshall grit. Boogie is close, but, doesn't have the Marshall sound. Very few to compare, period. You would have to go extremely high end. And the Marshall still competes. Come on, Slash, and the Satch etc. are using this series. Not to mention, I'm the man of gain and tone, Lol. My amp blows people away constantly, and I always! have better tone. just saying, 5 star for me. JVM series...

Tried to buy this Marshall JVM210c from a U.K. retailer....fiasco...great service from dv247. The amp is the most expensive but the best I’ve owned. Still getting to grips with how to set it up after just a couple of days. It’s inherently a high gain amp, and I think gain and channel volumes have to be down a bit, but two master volumes is a big bonus, and the amp just oozes good blues tones at the clean/crunch options. Overdriven it’s a beast. Warm distortion. Lovely. And I think it’ll get better as the speakers bed in. Very happy!

This is a serious amp for serious Marshall freaks. It's the only amp I'll ever need. With 12 distinct voicings, everything Marshall tube tone is there, although it takes some time and patience to work your way through everything and decide what you want. The owner's manual has some good tips. I've been fiddling with this amp for over a year and I've dialed in some beautiful tones, from jangly clean to warm crunch to Slayer shred. Both the Gibson Les Paul and the Fender Stratocaster love this amp.The sound doesn't really open up until you push the volme past the comfort zone, so I wouldn't recommend this for apartment dwellers. The power tubes need a certain amount of saturation to get the famous Marshall roar. Despite Marshall's reputation for dirtiness, the clean ... MoreThis is a serious amp for serious Marshall freaks. The power tubes need a certain amount of saturation to get the famous Marshall roar. Despite Marshall's reputation for dirtiness, the clean channels can sound very sweet, but you have to know how to balance the settings. With any dual-volume tube amp, it takes great patience to find the right balance of gain, pre-amp volume, and power amp volume. Playing with those settings, and listening to how it affects your tone with each of the different pickups on your guitar takes time. For example, I've found monster shred tone by plugging my Les Paul, using the bridge pickup, into the OD1 Yellow setting, putting the gain at half, turning the channel volume down most of the way and cranking the master volume to max. Power tube saturation really makes the distortion wail. Caution: any time you turn the master volume up to max with the channel volume low, be careful not to accidentally step on the footswitch. You could blow your eardums out if it switches to a channel where the volume is high.If you love Marshall, and you have the money, this is the only amp you'll ever need.4 channels, 3 modes per channel, dual master volumes and programmable midi footswitch - that's all I need. The back panel has all kinds of goodies that I will never understand.Top-shelf.It ain't cheap but you get what you pay for.
Well, the amplifier arrived inside the box with no protective bag. Not ideal but OK. However, I certainly would have expected the instruction manual of the amplifier to be included in the box together with the amplifier. The Marshall JVM 410c 100W amp requires/deserves explanations of the many channels and options in the front and back panels. It is imposible that the user can figure everything out.Cheers, Ed
I have owned this amp for a couple years now and must confess that it is incredibly versatile and sounds absolutely fantastic. Aside from a few select applications, I almost exclusively prefer an all tube analog signal path for guitar, no matter what style of music. This amp's clean channel alone is worth its hefty pricetag. It's warmth clarity and shimmer at all frequencies is outstanding. What this amp is mosrt commonly renowned for however is its incredible three gain channels, each with three independent modes, offering an operatic range fof tones. Fom subtle blues crunch, to hard rock overdrive to insane high gain scream, all channels retain the guitar's harmonic nuance and clarity. The footswitch and control layout offer the performing guitarist a complete sonic and tonal palette for all musical needs. This amp is built heavy and solid, a loving 100 watts from England. I own all top level equipment and have many Mesa, Fender, Vox and boutique amps and this one is a complete package. My only improvement would be for it to have a tube spring reverb instead of the digital algorithms it uses. That said, you can run a vintage Fender box or comparable spring thru the effect send and achieve that vaunted All-tube-All-analog sound. If you had to own only one quality amp in your collection, without hesitation I would recommend this be your choice. If you buy this amp I can assure you of at least two things: You will be truly astonished at its tonal flexibilty and sound, and you will not regret your decision.
This amp is nothing short of awesome. I've played dozens and dozens of amps in my 35 years of guitar playing and heard hundreds more. The four channel - 3 mode feature coupled with the foot pedal for easy swathing gives you so many options you can't possibly use them all in one gig. From the cleanest Marshall sound I've every heard to the deepest metal crunch, you have a world of sounds at your feet. The two different celestion 12 inch speakers gives you even more sound options depending on which one you mic. However, the single most impressive thing about this amp is tone. I also have a Marshall DSL 2000 which is great but the 410C blows it away. This amp has everything and the sound it produces is just so warm and rich that I just can't stop playing it. Believe me, I'm not a Marshall biased guitar player. I've owned and played many many amps in my day but I've just never played anything with so many tonal options with each one being a 10 out of 10. I would recommend using the XLR out for recording since you don't get the rich sound of the speakers.....definitely mic it for laying down tracks. Simply and unequivocally the BEST rock amp ever built.
BackgroundI’m one of the two guitar players in a classic rock cover band. We (especially me, ha ha) are real amateurs, I’ve played for over ten years, but I’m still learning. And I still have got to learn a lot. I do chords, ‘written’ solo’s, improvisations, arpeggio’s, all of it.We play songs from e.g. Lenny Kravitz, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and the Kinks. I listen to classical music a lot, as well as to e.g. King Crimson and especially Frank Zappa. As for sounds I like Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew, Steve Hackett and David Gilmour, and many others.Features:Fifty watts all valve power, two different Celestion 12’ speakers, two channels with three sound modes each, so six basic sounds all together, reverb, two master volumes. It comes with a foot-pedal in which you can store four sounds. (Please see my remarks under ‘Ease of use’.)The two channels both have gain, bass, middle, treble volume and reverb-controls, so the volume, gain, bass etc. are set for three modes. There are two master volumes, so you can store one sound with two volume-levels. And there are presence and resonance controls in the master section.Sound Quality:This JVM has got two channels: the clean/crunch and the overdrive channel. The clean/crunch channel has got three sounds: green, orange and red.The green mode (the cleanest) of the clean/crunch channel is really spectacular. It’s warm and gives my sound real depth. My main guitar is an Ibanez Blazer (Strat-copy with three single-coils and ash body, maple fret board) and it really shines on this channel and in this mode. You can hear everything you do, the JVM is very responsive to the way you play (e.g. even the way you hold your plectrum is essential on this green channel!) In short: a lovely tone for strumming/finger picking as well as for clean solos. Small disadvantage: if you hear every little detail, you hear all the mistakes too. You can’t be sloppy here. But this sound is so pure, warm, direct and clean that you wouldn’t believe it’s a Marshall. The red mode of the clean/crunch channel is amazing too. It goes from almost clean to crunch and everything in between. I have set the gain in a way that my guitar is rather clean when I play it softly and that the amp starts to overdrive when I hit the strings more powerfully. In this way you can easily go from cleanish tot crunch. This mode is less subtle then the green one, so if you are not certain that all the tiny little notes you are playing are correct, get this red-mode. The small disadvantage mentioned before disappears easily now. This is my first valve-amp and I have to admit: controlling the sound just by hitting the strings with less or more power is just great. Sounds really well and is very handy. If I were to chose just one mode in the JVM I could use for a gig, it would be this red one in the clean/crunch channel. You can play chords and solos with clean/crunch red mode. Clean is not the sparkling, shiny clean the green mode delivers, nevertheless very workable, direct and… forgiving! The green mode of the ‘real’ overdrive channel gives a deeper tone, yet crunch/red does a nice job. For power chords with an edge, this red/crunch is just fantastic. The orange mode of the first channel is not really my cup of tea. If you play softly there’s a clean sound that sounds more or less as the clean in the red mode. But when playing with more power my Blazer doesn’t overdrive as nicely as in the red mode. Of course I can crank up the gain more, but this makes the clean disappear. I think this mode (with low gain) is nice for Les Paul-type guitars. Besides the Ibanez Blazer I have also got a Fender Strat (Mexico, Classic Player Strat Rosewood fret board), a Squier Stagemaster (hardrock guitar with Floyd Rose and HSS-pick-ups), an Aria Pro II (Les Paul copy with chambered body and two Seymour Duncan pick-ups) and an excellent )and cheap!) Jack and Danny Lucille-copy. If I’d play only on m
First of all I have been playin playin guitar for over thirty years and have played thru many different amps... boogie's,peavey, fender etc. I have played many marshalls over the years but you had to turn them up so loud to get decent tone I found them useless for normal gigging. Then I was at sam ash [*] playing thru amps on the floor and just fell in love with the jvm. The salesperson had no idea how to use the amp due to the 32 knobs on the panel which at first can be confusing however once you understand the lay out it is quite logical. Now flash forward a year in a half.. the footswitch is cool however it is very poorly constructed. But the tones and versatility that this amp offers is truely remarkable. The reverb is good but not quite as good a fender. Great amp
This is a beast of an amp !It does it all from clean and vintage crunch to monster high gain. All settings are straight forward and you can easy dial in a tone that youll like.Being a 100W combo, this is definitely a gig amp, however it can also be very quiet and you may thus use it easily at bedroom level while preserving your tone (and Im not even talking about the silent recording mode).Only drawback: its a bit pricy... but you get what you payed for.I highly recommend it !
