Marshall MS-4 Micro Amp

I originally felt all these great reviews were exaggerated. Turns out I'm here to confirm and expand on them.'Loud' I can easily get with my other equipment. As far as the speaker element in an overdriven Marshall amp, even my little 12 watt Marshall is much too loud for my home recording to do this. However, it seems this teeny tiny Marshall micro-stack. Well...I dunno. I feel ridiculous even thinking it. Microphone recording with this tiny thing then adding bass and effects afterwards to make it sound like a giant Marshall stack?Could I get away with it?Would others be able to tell that I am using a teeny, tiny little squirt of an amp to sound like Jeff Beck at his best?Guess I'll have to keep working with it to seeThis much is for certain:This little ... MoreI originally felt all these great reviews were exaggerated. I will start by saying, this is not a serious playing amp, this is a fun, decent sounding toy.This is good for travel, to shove in a suitcase and have with you, or for late night playing, if you want to be just loud enough for yourself. Could also be good for noodling around while you're browsing the web.The sound is actually a pleasant surprise, for some rock, or even a bit of metal, as this can get quite gainy without being too loud.And tuning below E Standard will sound muddy and gross, even E Flat sounds a bit muddy, though not as bad as others.I've found the best use for this is as a travel amp, for quiet practice without bothering too many people around you. The best sounds, for me are with either everything at half, or everything full on, and these give you some of the best straight up rock, and then straight up metal tones this amp will dish out.Another use I found for this, was plugging it into an external cab. These can actually become serious amps through a 112 cab! This does require modification.

This thing works great. It is a good amp for beginners because its easy and its in rock and roll mode out of the box. You get that marshal stack cranked sound out of the box! But you can play with acoustic guitars as well! New guitar players will love it and old school cats will dog it but in the end they help kids learn the electric guitar and old guys like me smile because we finally got that legendary amp we dreamed about for 60 bucks!!
