As far as the speaker element in an overdriven Marshall amp, even my little 12 watt Marshall is much too loud for my home recording to do this. However, it seems this teeny tiny Marshall micro-stack. Well...I dunno. I feel ridiculous even thinking it. Microphone recording with this tiny thing then adding bass and effects afterwards to make it sound like a giant Marshall stack?Could I get away with it?Would others be able to tell that I am using a teeny, tiny little squirt of an amp to sound like Jeff Beck at his best?Guess I'll have to keep working with it to seeThis much is for certain:This little ... MoreI originally felt all these great reviews were exaggerated. Cheap but sound is not great.

The amp is built from a good quality plastic. It's pretty cheap, it's Marshall and it looks like a reduced copy of a real Marshall stack. The clean sound is not bad but I couldn't manage it to make a good distorted sound like I've heard on YouTube videos. Compared to other similar compact amps, the sound is not really great.

I will start by saying, this is not a serious playing amp, this is a fun, decent sounding toy. This is good for travel, to shove in a suitcase and have with you, or for late night playing, if you want to be just loud enough for yourself. Could also be good for noodling around while you're browsing the web.The sound is actually a pleasant surprise, for some rock, or even a bit of metal, as this can get quite gainy without being too loud. And tuning below E Standard will sound muddy and gross, even E Flat sounds a bit muddy, though not as bad as others.I've found the best use for this is as a travel amp, for quiet practice without bothering too many people around you. The best sounds, for me are with either everything at half, or everything full on, and these give ... MoreI will start by saying, this is not a serious playing amp, this is a fun, decent sounding toy. This is good for travel, to shove in a suitcase and have with you, or for late night playing, if you want to be just loud enough for yourself. These can actually become serious amps through a 112 cab! This does require modification.

Great bang for your buck!
3 July 2019

This thing works great. It is a good amp for beginners because its easy and its in rock and roll mode out of the box. You get that marshal stack cranked sound out of the box! But you can play with acoustic guitars as well! New guitar players will love it and old school cats will dog it but in the end they help kids learn the electric guitar and old guys like me smile because we finally got that legendary amp we dreamed about for 60 bucks!!

Not bad for an amp
29 December 2022

It is very good and i highly suggest it for small, cheap ,portable amps but one downfall is that when you want a distortion gain, it sounds really weird and sorts of zones out. I wishthat i can give it 5 star because this is really worth it for your money but the disttion is very bad. Overall its good and its worth for your money

Perfect for practice
3 October 2022

This Marshall Mini Stack Amp is perfect for practicing or traveling with your guitar. I take the Mini Marshall along with my electric guitar with me when I travel. It's perfect when staying in hotel rooms so that you can stay in practice or any place where you can't crank a loud amp. This amp has gain knob for distortion or sounds good set to clean. Every guitar musician should have one of these on hand.

This is a fun little amp that actually sounds pretty good!
6 November 2015

I bought one for a gift and sorta wanted one more for display than to use.... Put it next to the model guitars and sorta forget about it well, being a geek I put a battery (Included and sealed in clear cellophane I could not see so like a boobe I put another battery in figuring I got a DOA one- nope just sealed for reference if you buy one) I plugged it into a EMG equipped Jackson Soloist and the thing actually sounds great! Clean is clean, it's got some good punch on the distorted end and the tone control actually does offer up a lot of color in both clean and dirty.... I plugged in a set of Sennhiser RM3 recording headphones and it cranks.... It's fun, functional, not a Tom Sholtz Rockman but it looks cool in the studio (I do pull and flip the battery so it won't ... MoreI bought one for a gift and sorta wanted one more for display than to use.... I'm buying more for Christmas presents.... Also MUSIC123 ships 2 day UPS at no charge- Try and beat that! Best $50-ish present you are gonna give... Comes in a nice box complete with the battery, will also use any standard 9v neg center pin pedal power wart. This gets an A+ all day long.... The grille cloth is cloth, not cheap plastic, its well made, surprisingly loud and clear as noted. Definitely the perfect gift and a functional one at that..... Heck, even worth tossing in your guitar case with headphones on vacation!

Use your guitar's volume knob(s)!!!
3 September 2014

Terrible cleans? Keep the volume way down on your guitar, turn it back up on the amp, and you have a respectable crisp, clean tone! Turn the volume all the way up on your guitar and you have no clean tone whatsoever. The gain is where it lacks it's definitely not a grinding distortion it sounds like a muddy overdriven fart on the low end however usable on the highs. The clean is where it shines, if you can dial it in right it really does sound great.I plan on getting the MS-2 because it has a pants/pocket clip which works great, if you don't desire the clip to walk around with get the MS-4 for a bit better sound.*Side note the Vox Amplug series sounds vastly better if you have decent headphones and don't mind wearing them.*I can't take my repeat of cleans back ... MoreTerrible cleans? OK I will write something none did about use of this "amp", at least I didnt notice so sorry if someone wrote that : I checked on some gear forum question from a guitarist--he tried to connect this MS-4 to his amp as preamp boost, he said he got no sound, sohe got advice to mod thing(you have to open back of amp and solder certain jumper to get direct out--but headphone is not usable after that !)And one guy told that he got sound through headphone to another amp but it was nogood sounding ! So...both was wrong, first of all I quite intensely play and practice guitar every day, now some about sound...So :1. You have to put jackin just a half cause headphone out is stereo, 2.I have plugged thing to my Bugera 5V--5watts tube amp-which have excellent sound just lacking ... MoreOK I will write something none did about use of this "amp", at least I didnt notice so sorry if someone wrote that : I checked on some gear forum question from a guitarist--he tried to connect this MS-4 to his amp as preamp boost, he said he got no sound, sohe got advice to mod thing(you have to open back of amp and solder certain jumper to get direct out--but headphone is not usable after that !)And one guy told that he got sound through headphone to another amp but it was nogood sounding ! You have to put jackin just a half cause headphone out is stereo, 2.I have plugged thing to my Bugera 5V--5watts tube amp-which have excellent sound just lacking little push...so this MS-4 have provided that push, it serves excellent as a preamp boost and gives to your amp (specially good if you have dark sounding tube amp) Marshall caracter, so amp turns into Marshall and rally sound as you are playing tube Marshall amp--no kidding here, crystal clear strong punchy cleans and also with this you can overdriven tubes really nicely, great also to give you lead channel! So you dont need boost predal if you use this for an amp ! And you dont have to mod this amp, just use this headphone thing ! You can use micro cube roland in same way--rec/hedph out to another amp ! Then you dont need effect pedals and sound greeeeat ! The same with this MS-4--your amp becomes Marshall !! Is that good enough ?
