The Bluetooth seems cluttered by comparison, the wired connection providing much better separation and a more convincing stereo illusion as a result.Moving on to a few of the shortcomings of the speaker. There is a persistent, low-level hiss that's present with all of the audio inputs. It becomes more pronounced with the wired connections at volume levels over 7, though it's really only audible from a distance of about 2 feet when no music is playing. It's basically a non-issue, though if you intend to use the speaker at low volumes in relatively close proximity to your head, just be mindful of it. I should also note that I actually returned the first speaker to determine whether this was a fault with the unit or just a quirk of the product. I can confirm that the hiss was present with both units, so full marks for consistency, I guess.The speaker also has an annoying tendency to fall asleep when left alone for a while, and then upon reconnecting will start playing your music for about 5 seconds, only to then interrupt it with the connection notification sound. I don't need to be notified of the connection; I can hear the music coming from the device. This also happens with wired connections for some reason. Something of a nit-pick, but a slight annoyance nonetheless.I appreciate that this review may seem a bit over the top and verbose for a speaker of this kind, but I really struggled to find a detailed review online that answered a lot of the questions I had prior to purchase. In short, is this a good speaker? Yes. Will it replace a dedicated stereo setup? Probably not, though it may be more practical depending on your living circumstances. This speaker has the potential to be far less obtrusive to adjoined neighbours for example, provided that you dial the bass down that is. You can also move this around the house to your heart's content; I would actually consider buying another and pairing them up in stereo, the only thing stopping me is the inability to play wired audio over both speakers simultaneously - Bluetooth only I'm afraid.I went into this doubtful that a single speaker could provide me with a satisfactory listening experience — I was wrong. I have this hooked up to a turntable, to my phone via Bluetooth, to my TV even, and, despite its shortcomings, I'm more than happy with the results. Well done Zound Industries, you've done Marshall proud. Just isolate the AC better next time and get rid of that annoying hiss, allow stereo pairing over wired connections, and you'll have a perfect speaker.

I LOVE this speaker. The sound quality is akin to a tube amplifier – very warm-toned. I use this primarily with my record player, but the Bluetooth pairing mode is outstanding as well. Make no mistake, this speaker is LOUD. I rarely turn it up to full volume. It fills my entire 1000 sq ft home with crisp sound that carries well. The only downside is that there is no remote, and it has to be plugged into the wall at all times. However, for a stationary speaker, this is an amazing device that I recommend to all of my friends.

The name Marshall to anyone with a love of 60's and 70's rock, needs no introduction.Unfortunately I have a problem listening to music after years of aural abuse so, when it comes to sound systems I'm really picky. I've tried a number of different options, including reverting back to my vinyl collection via a 70's amp and speakers and also So**s speakers/amp set up. Bass is deep, trembles are also great. No packaging at all… Straight up just taped the original box of the speaker and shipped. The item came super beat up. It also came missing power cables, user manual, and even a piece of cushioning that the speaker was supposed to sit on… (I know this because my friend bought the exact same speaker from Amazon and all the parts mentioned were included). Very terrible. Do yourself a favor and pick it up at the store.To be fair, Marshall speakers are good. I’m using the Acton II now. 4 stars for the speaker, 0 stars for the packaging, shipping, etc…
These speakers sound quite nice, WHEN THEY WORK. The bluetooth functionality is INFURIATING. I cannot use my mouse and this speaker at the same time ( - the speaker will go choppy randomly if any bluetooth mouse is turned on). When I pair two speakers (I have this Stanmore II and an Acton II), the secondary speaker of the pair cuts in and out constantly. It is AWFUL. I have tried switching which is the primary speaker. I have tried moving them around - close together, close to the source, to a different area. I tried them with an Android phone and a Macbook. I've tried different power outlets. I've tried unpairing and re-pairing. This is making me miserable, because you can't sink into enjoying music when you know it is going to be ripped out from under you ...
