Awesome amp. This combo really sounds great! True Marshall sounds. Very loud and easy to get any kind of rock or heavy metal sound from it. Straight to the amp, or with my OD pedal always sounds great. Hard to believe that it's only a 10" speaker. Marshall did a fine job pairing it up with this 20 watt powerhouse.

This is the closest I have been to achieving the tone I am looking for. Hopefully adding a extension cabinet will bring to full circle so I can quite tone chasing. This amo is amazing and no regrets.

I own a JVM 205H and I wasn't that happy with the tone. The studio classic is an excellent amp. Great tone. It is also incredibly loud so it gets played in 5 Watt mode and it still sounds great.

This all-valve Marshall amp gets plenty loud enough. However, my favorite thing about it is the amazing range of tone that it can accomplish with a little tweaking. I have been able to nail some pretty good Jimi Hendrix tones as well as a decent Green Day tone.
Since I started playing in the 80's, the JCM800 sound has always been in my head, but a big Marshall stack was never practical for my situation. So finally I have come full circle with this little combo amp version. Overall, it sounds like the big brother version I remember from so many rock concerts. In this small form with 10" speaker it is a little midrange boxy, but all is well using the faceplate EQ to dial that down & the bass up. I am happy that I can get the "Marshall sound" I am looking for. It is a simple single channel amp (heck yeah), but with the low & high input jacks, it operates like a clean & dirty two channel (not so much for live switching though). This is a surprisingly loud amp for 20w/5w. This would work for playing in a loud band in small/moderate sized venues. As a practice amp, even at 5w mode it starts sounding pretty loud to me at a about 3 master volume with pre-amp turned up high. The white finish upholstery with gold art deco style logo looks very classy. I bought this to use in the living room, because my music room gear is not very portable & a PITA to move around. Looks like nice home decor, & not just gear that hasn't been put away. If I were still playing in a band, I would go with the black though because this white amp is just to nice to bang around & get all scuffed up.
I was missing the iconic Marshall tone from my studio equipment an this fits the bill nicely. I'm able to get great tones and harmonics at decent volumes without using an attenuator. I haven't figured out good amp and mixer settings for the direct output yet but it mikes up very well.
I have to be honest its my first amplifier I have been waiting 20 years to be able to have one and iam working my way around the tones bottom end mid range and trebles witch are nice and clear and clean. Iam now looking for a box speaker witch would be compatible with the Marshall as the deputy thank you eBay
Overall:This amp has such a true natural sound in clean and with great articulation on the upper end of the gain. Never experienced anything like it before. It opens up nicely. It can be what you want with minimal adjustment. I would say plug and play.
This is the best sounding guitar amp I've ever played. I've owned a few amps through the years including Soldano, Marshall, Fender, and Matchless. I've also played through many other high end amps. The JCM800 carries a title of one of the best amps ever. I always wanted something different, but I changed my mind after buying this one. If you are a good guitar player you will love this amp! No pedals or extra channels needed! Just plug in and use the volume knob on your guitar to go from dirty to clean. It's Loud enough for any gig and quiet enough if you need it to be. This is the first review I've ever written on anything and will probably be the last. Cheers!
Looks great, sounds even better. I can;t beleive it' sonly 20W as it's LOUD!
