In my title I described the guitar as a "sleeper." Many folks immediately go for the spruce top. Many folks immediately go for the dreadnaught shape. These sorts guitars are the "norm." This guitar is incredibly understated, yet also incredibly beautiful. But the real beauty is in the tone. The tone of this particular instrument is pleasantly and surprisingly unique. I'd describe the tone as "sweet." Incredibly balanced string to string and across the tonal spectrum, the instrument sings with a lyric quality. Especially suited for finger style or flat picking, it is also a a really nice light strummer, with enough body to cut through a mix, but not so heavy that it will overpower a solo voice. The neck plays like butter, and the body is ergonomically very, very ... MoreIn my title I described the guitar as a "sleeper." The guitar is lightweight - the lightest I've owned, and the appearance is honest. Not flashy, but robust in its color and the smell is incredible! This guitar remains true to the Depression-era guitar after which it's modeled. This is a real Martin. The finish is flawless. The fit is tight. The appointments are sumptuous. The bridge pins and end pin are ebony - not plastic. The nut and bridge are bone. The tortoise shell pick guard is beautiful. The instrument comes with a nice, hard shell case, too - all for less than $1300. This is just a sweet guitar that sort of becomes part of you when you play it. I'm so, so glad I made this purchase.I just bought the guitar a couple of days ago, so this review is simply all about my initial impressions of the instrument, as compared with other instruments I own, or with which I'm familiar (I used to sell guitars, so I've run across many in my time). I'm confident the guitar will improve with age, but out-of-the-box, it's a keeper.

I believe this is the best buy for the money if you want a real Martin Guitar. I've owned D28s and D18s which were and are great, but this 000-15 holds its own against them. It sounds every bit like a Martin should (the top of the line Mexican-made Martins are close but not quite there). The rich tones, overtones, and sustain are all there in spades - like you would expect from a true American Martin. What has surprised me is how loud it is - I don't know how Martin can get such volume out of a smaller box! It's very well constructed and set up well out of the box. All I've had to do is tighten the truss rod a couple of times. You get a Martin hardshell case and that distinctive Martin smell too for a great price.

Don't normally leave reviews but felt it necessary for this gem. Been playing for 12 years, nowhere near an expert but can hold my own and felt I was due for a solid American-made acoustic. Went to guitar center in the "nicer" acoustic small room, played prolly a dozen top line acoustics from Martin, Taylor, Gibson, anywhere from this price point up to several grand. This guitar was the best sounding and feeling guitar in the room by far, next to the Martin D41 but that's a $5k guitar. Those two sounded better than any other guitar from any brand in the room, no matter the price point. The 000-15m felt and sounded better than guitars two to three times it's price (other than the D41, but very very close). I think that's saying something, Martin really did something ... MoreDon't normally leave reviews but felt it necessary for this gem. I think that's saying something, Martin really did something special with this one. Size is perfect and comfortable, the mahogany you lose a bit of volume and with the auditorium (000 sized) guitars you lose a bit of volume too naturally, but it's minuscule and it makes up for it in tone ten times over. Super balanced tone, not boomy like some dreadnaughts, the mahogany is responsible for that combined with the body size. The wood also helps deliver a very rich, but sweet tone. Smells incredible too. Nut size is a bit slimmer on this model compared to most other Martins of the same size (000-28 and 000-18) but my fingers and hands aren't huge so it's comfortable for me. If you have massive hands, might be something to consider. Incredible guitar, sound is very very consistent stays in tune like no other, a lot better than my Les Paul but those can be tricky to keep in tune without proper string-stretching and stringing techniques. Won't disappoint, incredible value for the price, the 5 star reviews on every website aren't lying. Buy it!!

Overall:Played one 10 or so years ago but didn’t get because of other obligations. Never forgot how it played and sounded! Finally got one and it is a truly excellent guitar. I have a Gibson CJ165EC, which I love, and the 000-15M is a totally different sound, which I wanted. Needed some Martin jangle! Out of the box fantastic. The mahogany tone is unmistakable and rich! Neck is a thin Martin neck, which I’m fine with. I’ve been playing for 53+ years so I kinda know what I’m talking about. Putting in a Fishman rate earth soundhole pickup and this will be my busking guitar! Really happy with the guitar and with zZounds. Delivery was fast and purchase was flawless. Highly recommend both the Martin 000-15M and zZounds!!
I have wanted a triple-aught mahogany guitar. I preferred the Guild D20 dread to the Martin D15, but was open-minded about which 000 brand. Didn't like videos on Taylor and Alvarez all hog orchestra models and was very impressed with the Martin videos. So ordered this. Was also a big fan of Kenneth Pattengale and I'm With Her who use the 00-15 model.Let the box sit half a day. Upon opening it I was greeted by this amazing scent. The guitar came set up with low action, slightly detuned. The bridge and fretboard appeared to be stained morado (a very hard and valid wood, harder than rosewood but not quite as much as ebony). Tuners are Grover Statites. They are firm and perhaps a little too sensitive to sometimes dial in. The body was a gorgeous chocolate with ... MoreI have wanted a triple-aught mahogany guitar. Tuners are Grover Statites. They are firm and perhaps a little too sensitive to sometimes dial in. The body was a gorgeous chocolate with amber-orange highlights. The guitar was immaculate. Martin Lifespan 2.0 PB 12-54 strings. It sounded really nice with the ebony pins which were fit absolutely perfectly. However, I had already purchased Blisstime unbleached bone pins which fit perfectly too. I got even more sustain and a more melodic tone, along with greater volume. This improved the strumming tone immensely. May switch to nickel-bronze 12-56 strings, but I will wait for now.The guitar is super-light and weird to hold after dreads. The tone is dark (as expected) but ringing. There is the hog compression, but I was amazed how great this sounded brand new. I did humidity it overnight.Intonation was spot on. The frets were dressed wonderfully with no protruding ends. No truss rod wrench, nor polishing cloth like with my DSS-17. The case had a small ding in the tolex which I was able to bond into place cleanly and disguise. The case is very nice, but without built-in humidification like my Guild. The tone is beautifully even and not bass-heavy like the D15. The treble keeps up with the expected mids. The end pin was not pushed in all the way by me as it was very tight. May opt to have that professionally assessed. I don't gig, so a pickup is not for me. I did get a tortoise pickguard. This is definitely a keeper which I will pamper.
I own 6 other high end acoustic guitars and have been playing for 25 years. I have never made a purchase by brand name only. I am also not taken in by bling I.E. pearl inlays, abalone perfling or such. I recognized this instrument line "The 15 series" has a cult following and wanted to see what it was all about personally. It is beautiful in its simplicity, well appointed and plays like a dream.Very lightweight, amazing sustain and clarity of tone and it projects that tone over the entire spectrum. Although it is not one of the "Legacy models" it is an unbeatable model for value and performance. Do yourself a favor and play one....you won't be sorry.I rarely give five star reviews, but this is a stunning.
I mostly play bluegrass, blues, and country music. This is an excellent guitar for back porch picking because of its sustain and rich sound. Alone, the Martin 000-15m has a pure sound that will ring for minutes after a note is plucked. The quality of the sound is excellent in all types of acoustic playing, such as: fingerpicking, single-notes, and strumming. When playing in a group setting, the guitar doesn't push through the mix well. (Which is expected because of the Mahogany top). So, if you're looking for a more boomy sound, you may want a guitar with a spruce top or dreadnought body. However, the 000 body is extremely comfortable and the Mahogany neck has a smooth feel. I've never written a review for a guitar before, but like many others, I felt the need to share my experience with and my love for this instrument. I own a few different guitars, acoustic and electric. Taylor, Fender, Gibson, PRS, and now this Martin 000-15m.This is the best guitar I have ever owned. The sound is warm and rich. The sustain resonates clearly. It puts my Taylor 314ce to shame. The neck is comfortable. It's lightweight and feels like a dream to play. I'm able to get a sound and tone that fits these styles of music wonderfully with this guitar, and the sustain allows me to ring out notes clearly for an extended amount of time. The Grover tuners keep this baby in tune for a long time, and unless I'm bending notes like a madman, I don't need to keep tuning it again and again like some of the other guitars that I own. The open back tuners also add to the lovely vintage look.If you're looking for a new guitar, and your budget is somewhere between $1000-$2000, you can not go wrong with the 000-15m. It also comes with a great quality hard shell case with a nice green soft fabric lining inside that protects from any drops or bumps it might endure.I would absolutely recommend this guitar to anyone. It's a perfect 10/10, and if anything ever happens to mine, I'm going right back to the store and buying a replacement, no hesitation at all.
It’s a nice guitar and has a good set up and perfect intonation. Best played with a plectrum or finger plucked . Does not sound good with standard strings hand strumming .Mine had a small Nick on the top and a long scratch on the second fret . The main issue is that I also own the sigma version for £250 . It looks identical but sounds much better and has a good pick up in addition .
This all solid mahogany body guitar (top, back, and sides) produces a wonderful warm tone. The highs are nice and bright and the presence of the mids and bottom end provides a fairly balanced sound. The volume, projection, and sustain is among the best that I've ever heard. I find the auditorium size body a bit more comfortable to play compared to a dreadnought acoustic guitar. Also the 000-15M does not have as dominant of a bass sound.I find the feel of the neck and action of the guitar purchased quite good. I like string spacing with the 1 11/16" width nut. I realize that it is only 1/16" (narrower than 1 3/4" nut) and spread across the 5 spaces between the strings it's not a lot of difference, however there is a noticeable difference in feel of playing.I ... MoreThis all solid mahogany body guitar (top, back, and sides) produces a wonderful warm tone. I definitely intend to use the same strings on this guitar when it is time to replace them. The satin finished mahogany body (while beautiful grain and color) is somewhat understated in terms of looks and adornments compared to many other guitars. However, the sound quality both strumming and picking excels and exceeds its somewhat laid back looks.
