I used to hate on the X-Series Martins because they always felt cheap to me - not cheap in build quality, but materials. They were a great option for beginners to get that Martin name and some of the tone at very affordable prices, but I really couldn't stand how much manmade material they put into them. Fast forward to the Remastered X-Series - Martin is FINALLY making some progress in the budget/intermediate market. For starters, the build quality is amazing and the materials are SUCH a vast improvement. No more junky Richlite fingerboards and bridges or Stratabond necks, these pieces are all solid wood now. Although it's lame that Martin doesn't tell you exactly what woods they put into your particular instrument, it's very comforting knowing that they are solid ... MoreI used to hate on the X-Series Martins because they always felt cheap to me - not cheap in build quality, but materials. Although it's lame that Martin doesn't tell you exactly what woods they put into your particular instrument, it's very comforting knowing that they are solid tone woods. I truly believe the guitar resonates so much better just by having these soldi wood improvements and it also makes it more natural looking and attractive. I still dislike the use of HPL, but at least Martin went out of their way to refresh it and take pictures of classic wood patterns and get variety into the X-Series line. No one guitar looks the same with the back and sides, which is cool. It may be a fake, manmade material, but at least they made it look good. The rest of the appointments are really choice - satin nickel tuners for a modern sleek look, rolled fretboard edges, faux abalone rosette and fingerboard inlays for a really classed up appearance in this price point and the electronics with a tuner that mutes automatically if you turn it on while plugged in. This is a completely gig-able and professional instrument, without a doubt. The HPL does have one advantage of being more friendly in temperature changes and weather, too. I just love this model and the tone and feel definitely compares to my 000-15M.

This is a very playable guitar with a Martin sound. The 0 size makes this guitar a good travel guitar with a full sound. The electronics offer a great opportunity to hook in and fill a larger venue with a great sound. The tuner is easy, convenient, and consistent with my other tuners. At its price point, it also allows one to take it and play it anywhere without worry. And, as should now be apparent, it has a great Martin sound.

I will be using this as my gigging guitar. The new neck is slightly slimmer with rounded edges on the neck fretboard. I can move easier up & down the neck. Also love the included tuner and cool Brazilian wood look, albeit it's pressed board.

Was looking to purchase a inexpensive Parlor Size guitar. I wanted a Quality guitar so had to go with a Martin. Very well made, sounds fantastic with or without the electronics. Finish was perfect, set up as it should be. Highly recommend if you need a Quality Martin. As always, excellent American Musical Supply Customer Service Department. Fast shipping, packaged well keeping it safe.
Bought this at the Lombard store in Illinois. I'd recommend it highly. Both the store and the guitar. Great customer service. Dario is a fun guy to work with. Hidario the manager is super cool too. I described what I wanted and needed and they directed me down the right road. So ya. Like I said. Great store. Great buy. Great price.
I really like the size and the sound of the guitar. It has very good body response to being played. I like the satin finish but am having trouble getting the ergoplay guitar support suction cups to attach. I suspect the finish is so thin that there are normal wood grooves the air gets through to allow the suction cups to loose their grip. Just got is yesterday, and yes the size is nice. I didn't realize that a double oo was noticeably smaller body than a triple ooo. I am only 5'6" so the size is perfect for me.
These Martin X series are ok. I question the value compared to Eastman for example. The 000-X2e that I bought needed quite a bit of tweaking to get it to play properly. The action was high from the factory and I had to lower the saddle drastically and notch the bridge to get a good break angle. I also had to flatten the neck with the truss rod to get the action where it should have been to begin with. Martin tends to under set their necks. The guitar now plays easily and sounds good. The gig bag is pretty good for the price.
This was an "upgrade" from a slightly more expensive Yamaha concert body guitar, which was totally fine, but I feel like I just went from playing with a casual acquaintance to falling madly in love. There really is something about the Martin sound - crisp, clear, resonant, responsive, with an absolutely gorgeous sparkle in every note. It responds with subtlety and nuance to fingerpicking, and also sounds great with a pick, with slight differences in attack and tone from thicker to thinner and different pick materials. The 24.9 scale and slightly smaller body size is super comfortable and easy to play, and the acoustic output is perfect for singer/songwriter accompaniment. I haven't plugged it in yet, but I'm sure it'll play nicely with amplification when needed. I bought mine used from Guitar Center online. Other than very dead strings, it shows no signs of use. Had it re-strung with Martin Lifespan 2.0 phosphor bronze lights. In 2 days time it turned into a little beast. This is the most fun I've had playing, and my favorite guitar neck of all time. The 1.75" nut width and 24.9" shorter scale length, together with the performing artist neck profile are perfect for me. I've got large palms but short clumsy fingers. Anyone with similar or small hands should find this ideal. The fit and finish is great, I can't see nor feel any problems. The tuners are rock solid. The sound of this guitar amazes me. Very clear and balanced in tone and volume across the strings.. What really surprised me is the volume and sustain out of the smaller 000 size guitar. I only play straight acoustic so can't comment on electronics. I'm pretty sure the solid spruce top is still newish. I can't wait to hear it when it opens up from age and relentless playing. It's not the overall best sounding guitar I own at the moment, I've got a couple that are twice the price. However, it's an absolute keeper and will see many hours of play. I can't put it down it's a blast. I've rejected a few other guitars I bought recently they didn't come close to this little gem. If you're looking for a 000 size with these spec's get this one. Find the spec's on Martin's web site, this is a big improvement over the 000x1ae. Lotsa bang for the buck here and a very generous return policy. Strongly recommended.
Being totally honest, I prefer Taylor over Martin. HOWEVER, for the price point I bought this guitar and the comparison to the line of taylors at the same price point, I really found a love for this Martin in particular. I play quite a but of fingerstyle on acoustics, not just strumming, so I find the midrange/trebles to really last instead of dying off quickly while the bass comes off very clear. Overall happy with the sound, and have been enjoying this as my first professional acoustic amongst my other guitar types. For reference, been a musician for over 15 years now!
