Martin DX2E Brazilian Acoustic-Electric Guitar
The X Series is made to play. The acoustic-electric D-X2E features the iconic Dreadnought body shape, now available in three eye-catching high-pressure laminate (HPL) patterns—mahogany, Brazilian rosewood, or ziricote. The satin spruce top features an elegant abalone pattern rosette, while HPL back and sides give you durability and classic Martin style. Playability enhancements include a thinner fingerboard with a gently beveled comfort edge and refined string spacing, and a modernized bridge contour for a smooth and comfortable playing experience. Its signature size is loud and projective with strong bass, lending itself to any genre and experience level. The D-X2E also features a select hardwood neck, fingerboard, and bridge, and Martin E-1 electronics with a built-in chromatic tuner and volume, tone, and phase controls, letting you plug in and play at any volume. All X Series models come with a softshell case.

I wanted a reliable, great playing and looking guitar that wasn't crazy expensive. I needed good electronics that weren't very visible but easy to reach and sounded great. This guitar fits the bill perfectly. It's a Martin with a modern take so maybe not for purists. Familiar, but with it's own character. Sounds great amplified or not. I play it nightly in a show so I bought the warranty coverage for accidents. Completely happy. Good enough for a pro and great for others. The folks there helped me were great too!

I bought this to use for gigging because I did not want to bring my J45 or D35 to outdoor gigs. It has been a workhorse. It looks good, has a full sound and built like a tank. The dread sound is there. I say this bc I watched several youtube videos hating on Martin X series, calling them "beginner guitars" or "not all wood" so its no good, Malarky. There is a specific video that is convincing that the Recording king D28 clone is almost as good as a Martin D28 and hate to burst bubbles but I tried it first and survey says "That is a Lie".(not even close). Sent it back, got this and end of story.Martin figured it out, they made this one right. Sounds awesome and serves my needs greatly. Built for the troubadour!

I got this one in a trade just yesterday which involved my Martin OMCX1E, which I had only bought brand new, not even 2 months ago. The previous owner had bought it brand new a few months ago but didn't take a liking to it, because it was too big for him to play. At least that's what he told me. He much prefers Auditorium sized acoustics while myself at heart, am a dreadnought guy, so this trade benefitted us both. The guitar was in immaculate condition and was already set up, so the inly thing that I did was to slap on a new set of Martin 2.0 lifespan strings which made a difference. First of all, the tone on this one , easily blows away the OMCX1E and I just love the Burst finish along with Massascar design on the HPL back and sides, which IMO, make this beauty ... MoreI got this one in a trade just yesterday which involved my Martin OMCX1E, which I had only bought brand new, not even 2 months ago. I got this in a trade a couple of weeks ago which involved a Martin OMCX1E which I had bought brand new, a couple of months ago. The previous owner had bought it brand new around a couple of weeks before and for some reason, never took a liking to it. I don't see why not because, this has a solid spruce top, which the OMCX1E did not have, being all HPL. I feel that I personally got the better part of the trade with this one. Besides the Spruce top, the neck is hardwood as well, which adds to the great tone on it. I do love the Macassar design back and sides even if they are HPL. because they make this guitar stand out from any of the other X-Series models that I have ever seen. It to it's credit, does stay in tune forever and thanks to the Fishman pup system, sounds great through my Fender Acoustic 100. Why spend over 1500 or more for a USA made martin, when you have this beauty which IMO, is just as good .
I actually ordered the wrong guitar by mistake, returned it, and got the Martin D X 2E 12 string that I wanted. It tuned well and sounds great. It plays well. I have already told my guitar friends about this model and how good it is to be a lower end guitar. If something happens to this guitar, I'll buy another one!
I purchased this guitar on line. I compared it to other guitars in its class and chose it. It was tough to purchase the guitar without first playing it. Once I received the guitar I knew immediately it wasn't for me. I thought the sound was too tinny sounding and the D stringseemed to have a slight buzz. On the positive side the customer service guy helping me with the online purchase was excellent. The shipping was super quick. Product was boxed very well. I returned the guitar at the store and was given full credit. I purchased an Epiphone Hummingbird inspired by Gibson. I'm happy It all worked out in the end.
I ordered the Koa, they sent me the Mahogany kinda disappointed regarding that... hopefully they can make it right with some points towards credit...With that being said, I know the HPL makes No tone difference, just what I wanted.... The guitar itself is amazing, plays great, sounds great! My Vox amp can't even be turned up to 1... Fishman MX are solid.. the guitar is still amazing and the gig bag is above and beyond.. ...
What a revelation of a guitar. For many years I have been looking for an acoustic guitar to go along side my againg Gibson j200. At first I was going for the Martin D15m but saw this guitar on YouTube. It's a Mexican made Martin which is all wood bar the back and side its also an electro acoustic that has a tuner built into the sound hole. What more could you want? Like all Martins I've played the action is on the high side but that's an easy fix, but even at the high it is its not a big problem. Intonation is also spot on even right up the neck. All in all real value for money and a great guitar.
Long time Martin lover and owner. Wanted a guitar that I didn't have to worry as much with temperature and humidity changes in south Texas (my HD-28 stays in the house!). A sales associate recommended the XD-2E. Loved it from the first strum. Pure Martin in an economical package. Plays beautifully. Well constructed with no flaws. Sounds great through my amp or unplugged. Great starter or knock around, play anywhere (beach, tailgate, hot, cold) Martin and the solid spruce top with the HPL back and sides sounds better than I expected. Recommend spending the extra few dollars over the XD-1E for the solid spruce top. Also the first burst top I have ever owned. This paired with the macassar looking back and sides is stunning. Of course this guitar doesn't sound like my ... MoreLong time Martin lover and owner. I purchased this as an affordable back up guitar for accoustic gigs however the sound it makes is so deep and full and loud that I will use it as #1 guitar for some upcoming jobs. I think you get more that what you pay for with this instrument. Yes, it is not fancy looking - really basic and workman like. But this thing is a cannon. All electronics work fine out of box. intonation is better than my $4k taylor. it may need a set up tweak but thats it. no problems at all and very pleased with the guitar. nice basic gig bag came with.
