Martin offering an Adirondack VTS top with beautiful rosewood back and sides for under 2k is the deal of a lifetime. You will not regret buying this guitar and I've honestly had trouble putting it down. I have a 00015m, a D18, the SC-13 special burst.. they're all great but this is the first review I've written if that tells you something.

This is what an acoustic guitar should be!It has a beautiful weathered look, complete with antique looking tuning keys. But it's the sound that makes it special. Clear and warm, with plenty of power. Plus, because there are no electronics, it weighs next to nothing. Great guitar!

This is my third Martin 000. I have a 000-18 and a 000 Custom Shop with VTS Sitka and Sinker Mahogany. I have wanted an Adirondack topped guitar so I asked my Sweetwater rep, Joe Schafer. He informed me there was a demo model available. He had it in my hands a few days later. The action out of the box was much higher than my 000-18 or Custom build. Otherwise, it arrived in fantastic condition. The VTS adi top responds so differently than the Sitka and is so inspiring to play. It's much louder than my other two 000s and begs to be played with a pick. Finger picking is also rewarding. Notes are very clear and bell like. I like that there is no pickguard and wish I would have gone without on my Custom Shop. I did replace the tuners with Waverly's and the bridge pins ... MoreThis is my third Martin 000. Both upgrades I would recommend. The stock tuners aren't great. Not a huge fan of the "Streetmaster" printed finish, but it's not horrendous in person. I do like the satin finish on the body though. The rosewood bridge and fretboard don't feel like a sacrifice over Ebony. This guitar feels just as good to play. Overall, the VTS Adi Top and rosewood combo alone is worth the price tag. After a setup and new tuners, I love it as dearly as both of my other guitars and I think it sounds every bit as good. I give it a 4.5 because this guitar should have nicer tuners and a hard shell case at this price point and with these features.

Like you guys, I'm after the best materials (rosewood scarce)and sound. The new guitar tops all the 000's I've owed. My $5000 000-28 has been in the case for 6 months. Sound doesn't replace/mimic the 28 or 18. My 000-16 street master sounds better :). Tone, weight, feel is the best!.
Highly recommend! I've had this guitar about a month and love it. The tone, articulation, and playability are amazing given the VTS treated Adi spruce and Indian rosewood. This has the tone wood and Martin American craftsmanship of a guitar 2x-plus of this price, just without the fancier finishes. See the 000-28 which still doesn't have Adirondack. Only Martin's highest end have Adi VTS. I personally really like the finish... it's understated and vintage looking but still has a nice new finish with some fading. The rosewood back and sides have no distress added and look gorgeous. I think the very light finish likely helps with the tone and clarity. Try one when you get a chance. Beautiful guitar at a great price
This guitar has beautiful timbre colours and flavors. The VTS treatment makes it sound like it's been playing for 80 years. Beautiful bookmarked Rosewood back, Rosewood sides. Dovetail construction done by CNC machine makes a tighter fit than by hand. Quality wood is same as series 42. Save monies on no pick guard, no white binding, no hardshell case, Dovetail construction on CNC machine ( nodes are more superior), no white on heel bottom,no white strip on bottom where strap pin is at.
I've been wanting this guitar forever. Finally the situation was right. I'm a bit disappointed.I've hd this guitar for about a week. Play it everyday. It's a great concept and was made very well. I'm thinking it should have been made as an OM. Shorter scale. The tone is passable and I sure it should get better. I'll be playing this out as soon as I can get the K&K Mini in there. I bought a Gibson J45 not long ago. So I'm kinda spoiled as far as tone goes. I'm looking forward to many happy days with this interment. As they say " Anticipation is always greater than the award.
I have a few high end Martin guitars, but I bought 000-16 streetmaster also. I like to share a good news to guitar-holics. This one has an expensive sound, but not have an expensive price tag. If you're tired of a piano like sounding guitar, play this one. It's close to violin sound than piano sound.Vintage sound is more accurate description. It has expensive solid materials which are in only very high end Martin guitars, but finish is not glossy. If you love premium sound no mater how it look, this is it.
I wrote a review about a month ago and gave it a four. I gotta say it's a five. It begs to be played. It will sit in my corner and beg me to pick it up because it's so beautiful. Then the tone and playing just grabs me. I put some Martin Retros on it and it made so much difference.
Martian got it right using the premium materials and great workmanship. I am blown away with her volume, clearity and sustain. It has plenty of low end for my liking. This is an amazing model and I would buy again. The gig bag is ok until I get a hard case.
