My 000-18 Modern Deluxe sounds & plays great. I've had standard & GE versions of the 000-18 which were very good guitars. The Modern Deluxe strikes me as more versatile - a great finger picking guitar & great for strumming too, with a light touch needed. Save the heavier strumming for the dread.I've really been enjoying it. It has a little more low end than expected for a 000 and a little more sparkle, probably due to the carbon fiber bridge plate or liquid metal bridge pins. Not sure what the VTS top adds but it does sound good.

I own a Martin HD-28 (1987) a D-41 (2017) and Taylors 814CE and 812 CE 12 Fret among others but this new 000-28 Modern Deluxe is altogether a different animal. It has a clarity, resonance and depth that are just astounding for a smaller body guitar. It is very responsive to light fingerstyle playing but doesn't break down when strummed hard. The shorter scale length is a real bonus for those (like me) with small hands so it's very comfortable to play and makes longer stretches significantly easier. It's hard to describe the neck contour (based on a vintage 000-42, I understand) but it just feels great. Not as big sounding, of course, as the D-41 and HD-28 but it blows the Taylors away.

I will never - EVER - consider another online seller when it comes to what Sweetwater offers. I wish they sold more so I could buy it from them. I was quite literally a pain in the a$$ Customer to them. The details are irrelevant. But Sweetwater is one of the few remaining large businesses that operates with a common-sense and common-courtesy approach and I will be grateful to them and to my salesperson Cameryn literally for the rest of my life each time I pick up my Martin OM-28.

This is my third Martin although mine is slightly different in that it is a 000-28 EC Eric Clapton version. In 1972 I bought my first one, a D-35, then acquired a D35-12.later. I played the D-35 exclusively for many years professionally along the way acquiring a beautiful custom hand built guitar, Bertoncini, but I always wanted a smaller body that I thought would be better for finger picking and wow does the 000-28 meet that! I have become so addicted to it I play it almost exclusively. Not only is it wonderful for finger picking it is wonderful for flat picking too. The action is set perfectly. I love the feel of the smaller body size, it cradles into your arms perfectly. The 000-28 predates the Dreadnoughts and was and is more the Martin "Classic" and for a good reason, it is a very well balanced guitar tone-wise not overly boomy which can interfere with the bass if you're playing in a band and the tone is dead accurate all the way up the neck so an E played open is in tune with an E played up the neck. So many guitar makers miss that by a mile. I love this thing so much my only regret is the poor D-35 sits in the case too much! The 000-28 has a signature tone to it that you can not mistake for a Taylor or something else - this is a true classic.Now something else I want to add about a Martin and their service. After I bought the D-35 years ago the neck moved just slightly and after 30 years of playing the plastic binding began to separate. When the wind knocked it over on its stand on a break I finally sent it back again for repairs. It came back in PRISTINE condition! The tone was not hurt in the least by the necessity of refinishing it and it plays beautifully - all no cost to me! Martin is fantastic. The 35 is wonderful but I love the 000-28 - my Go To!
Guitar 5 stars. Guitar Center 3. I was ensured that the guitar that I ordered would be an unopened product. This did not happen. Box had been opened and retaped. Guitar case was damaged with small gouge like tears x2. Guitar was fine but clearly was a demo or out on display. Contacted Guitar Center and was told that it was unopened and they where not sure how the case was damaged. False. GC did offer another case but did not follow through. Not what I would expect when ordering a 4K instrument. Greg A
Owned this for 3 months after very careful and diligent research. Nonetheless no one had in stock for me to try. Went with my heart and CC and have never been more happy with a purchase. Let it be known I own 3 other VERY fine Taylors and wouldnt trade them but,,,, the sound out of this Martin is just unbelievable and exactly what I wanted, For me - this is a stay at home guitar that gets used everyday or night for practice. But when the time comes - it will be ready to stand on its own for some major soloing with me.Bottom line - if you have the $$ what are you waiting for?
This 000-28 Modern Delux is exceptional. I love the way Martin's sound and I have a few-all with different sounds and shapes. It took me about 2.5 years to find the right feel and sound for this OM/000 body style. it is very easy to play and has great sustain. love the features, especially the way the neck is shaped. just a fantastic sounding, smelling, and playing guitar with modern appointments that I love.
