I have had my Little Martin for a couple of years at this point and of the four guitars I own, this is the one that gets played the most. This is because due to the small size and very stable construction materials and techniques, it is always near by, ready to pick up and play at a moments notice. While I keep more expensive and delicate guitars in their hard cases with humidifiers to maintain homeostasis as much as possible, the Little Martin is quite at home on a Jamstand next to my desk.I do keep a Planet Waves humidifier between the strings, even when the LM is on the stand because I live in the NE USA where the winter air in my home is very dry due to forced hot air heating. Since the body of the guitar is the High Pressure Laminate (HPL), it appears to me unaffected by changes in temperature and humidity, but I have found that without the humidifier, the bracing seems to dry out more and the sound can become a little 'pingy'. In fact this was my first impression when I picked it up at the local GC after ordering online. If I had not been able to play one in-store previously, I would have been disappointed with the tone and probably returned it. Instead I put on a new set of strings and put the humidifier between the strings and kept it in the quality Martin gig bag that came with it. Within a week it was sounding much better, more like the one that I tried in-store previously. Since the GC stores have good humidity levels in the acoustic rooms, this is a good way to try out a new guitar (after making sure it is in tune). The only reason that I ordered online to pickup in store was that when I was ready to buy, my local GC did not have it in stock at the time.

I've owned my Little Martin for about 5 years now. I was looking for a small guitar to travel with, and I really tried to like the Martin Backpacker...it's a great concept but I just couldn't get past the tinny, toy-like sound it makes. The Little Martin is not that much bigger and I found it produces 80%-90% of the sound quality of my parlor-size guitar, so I bought it. The build quality is very high, it's a pleasure to look at, touch, hold and play. I quickly came to love the 3/4 scale neck - barre chords are easier for my smaller hands to play, and it's possible to reach that 4th fret with my pinkie. The light-gauge Elixir strings suit the guitar perfectly. The light-gauge Elixir strings suit the guitar perfectly. Sound quality is very good - it doesn't have the booming bass notes or sparkling treble notes of a larger, more expensive instrument, but it produces a very warm, textured sound that is light years better than the Backpacker. I've taken the Little Martin on numerous backpacking trips and bicycle tours. The factory gig bag is very nice, but somewhat bulky and heavy for long-distance carrying, so I made a simple polar fleece cover for it and it fastens perfectly to the back of my pack with the pack's cinch-straps. The guitar has taken a few knocks along the way - including once being completely submersed in the Pacific ocean (long story) - but it has proven very durable and resistant to changing temperature, humidity etc. The guitar, capo, clip-on tuner and fleece cover add about 5 pounds to the load...totally worth it. When I'm bicycle touring the guitar fits neatly inside my Nomad trailer. I've flown with it a fair amount, too, and found it to be an easy carry-on item in its padded case. It fits in most overhead bins, and on crowded flights I've always been able to get a stewardess to stash it in the coat closet by the cockpit. Around the house I find myself reaching for the Little Martin at least as often as my larger guitars. Highly recommended.

I've had this guitar for about 6 months now. I've been in Germany the last 5 weeks for work so I figured I'd bring this little guy with me. I had no issues flying with it and it fit in the overhead without any issues. I think I might have even been able to fit it under my seat. Anyway, the guitar is perfect for travel due to the size. And for the price, I really don't think you'll find a better guitar for travel, so I'll give it that. I have a few guitars at home so I wasn't playing this one every day. For the last 5 weeks, I've been playing it for at least an hour a day, so I've got to know it pretty well. I don't like the tone of it. Comparing to my full size Taylor, it just doesnt match up. To be fair, I don't know what 3/4 guitar you can get for ~$200 that will. ... MoreI've had this guitar for about 6 months now. However, the fretboard plays smooth, it travels extremely well, it's durable, and the KOA does look very nice. I'd say I'd go with the Taylor GS, but for almost 3x the price, i think this Martin is a better choice. 4 stars due to tonality

If four times seems excessive for purchasing the same guitar, understand that I have three sons and each Little Martin has been "borrowed" but never returned. While my D-28 remains my true love, this is a great guitar to leave around for practice and quick access. I say that but my one son has been using it for recording sessions because he likes the sound. It's also perfect for travel/camping because the material isn't impacted by heat/cold/humidity like an all wood guitar might be. Highly recommend.
I gave this to myself for my birthday and it's the best present ever! I'm basically a beginner but I picked up on it right away and I haven't missed a day practicing, even if my fingers are sore. This guitar is the perfect size for me and it is so gorgeous that I love looking at it. I mean, it's a work of art!! It took me 2 hours of trying lots of guitars before I decided on this little Martin and I am still excited about my decision! Love it!!🩷
I'm very happy with my Little Martin. I wanted something smaller to tinker around with. The size is very manageable for me and when I play and hear the lovely sound from it, I remember why I have always love listening to guitar music. I am an older lady but I can see this guitar with a young kid who knocks it around a bit. It seems indestructable.
Overall:Ok so I open the box I know I really don’t love the look of the fake wood is just sort of yucky in my personal opinion but I have a real koa Taylor…so yeah…but the SOUND! PLAYABILITY OMG! It’s really SHOCKING HOW GOOD IT REALLY IS! If you get one for your kid as a first guitar I promise they will become a player because it sounds so good and it’s so easy to play the frets are so smooth and they don’t even have edges that I can feel. I spent a few minutes just looking at the frets to see if they cut them short or something because you can’t even feel them there on the edge of the guitar! The action is perfect and wow my notes sound so nice and clean. I now have four guitars and this is going to be the beach guitar…LOVE IT!
A small thing of great beauty… The Little Martin LXK2 has a full, mellow tone and for a 3/4 size guitar is lightweight yet has a heft and undeniable quality of craftsmanship that will make it a very satisfying little companion for 'the journey'. I find it particularly flattering for me as a vocalist as the earthy guitar tone does not vie for attention the way other guitars I've used can. Note, the woodgrain finish is not quite as honey coloured as in the product photos, but lovely nonetheless.
I’ve been playing this for over a year now and I love it!It just sits discreetly in the corner, ready to pick up and go at any time. No need for wires, it's small, comfortable, sounds great and is easy to play. It’s one of many guitars I’ve collected over the last 20 years, and I’ve honestly spent more hours on this than any of my others. It’s just so easy and such fun to bang songs out on it.I did find the strings a little too heavy, being use to electric guitars, so I switched to some Earnie Ball rock and blues, but that’s personal preference.
