Fun for both kids and adults, Blokus is a strategy board game that challenges spatial thinking. Blokus has even received a Mensa award for promoting healthy brain activity! The goal of this game is for players to fit all of their pieces onto the board. When placing a piece it may not lie adjacent to the player's other pieces, but must be placed touching at least one corner of their pieces already on the board. The player who gets rid of all of their tiles first is the winner and strategic thinking helps!

My son was very skeptical at first. He thought it will be easy but once we started playing it was not as easy as it looked. This game kept him entertained and had him think alot as well. His older brothers also joined it trying to figure it out. It was great family game night. Highly recommended to play with siblings and family.

First off, this is one of our absolutely favorite board games, so the two stars are not for the game itself - it is absolutely brilliant. We have an older version of Blokus that we play at my parents' home, and we wanted to finally get a game to keep at our house as well. This came in the mail yesterday and, as someone who never leaves reviews, I felt compelled to get on here. I am so tired of these game companies cutting costs and making cheaper, flimsier versions of our beloved games. The board this time around is smaller and thinner quality than the older version we have. And the box. Oh the box is a nightmare. Instead of the two part box + lid, this is some ridiculous one-piece cardboard origami that folds onto itself and then had two little flaps that tuck in ... MoreFirst off, this is one of our absolutely favorite board games, so the two stars are not for the game itself - it is absolutely brilliant. I'm so upset because I doubt this "box" will last three play before it begins to rip and fall apart. I am honestly considering returning the whole thing I'm so frustrated with the packaging and board quality. We have had our other Blokus game and box for about 6 years. I doubt this version will last 6 months. Buyer beware :(

Blokus is a fun family game. The instructions are super simple, making it quick and easy to start a game. My 9-year old quickly learned how to strategize and block my moves. I was impressed at how the game ended up being such a good teaching tool in that respect. Our family of four played a game together and it was even more fun. The more, the merrier!

We had a family game night, which we always love! My husband and I loved the game and it's variants. My 10 and 12 year old were bored with it quickly. The strategic thinking is pretty advanced. Overall, I'd recommend for teens to adults. Also it lacks tie-breaker rules.
This is such a fun but challenging game! It really makes you think! Super easy directions and easy to play immediately after opening. While the game says 2-4 players, we found it’s way more fun when you have 4 players. It’s still fun with two or three but definitely better with four.
My son and his cousin and I had fun playing this game. It’s well packaged with quick set up and quick clean up. The directions were easy to understand for my 9 year old and his 10 year old cousin and they were able to get the gist of it very quickly. There are modifications to the directions if playing with a smaller group, which was nice! Our first game play was relatively quick, however the 2nd time around the boys took more time thinking about their block placement. What I like most is that the game made the boys stop and think before placing their next tile and that it appeals to all ages. They really loved playing the game and I can see this becoming a popular choice for family game night!
This is a great game! I would almost compare it to Scrabble, but you’re just building and not spelling anything (I’m an engineer so it fit right in for me!). My kids - 10 and 12 - picked it up quickly as well and we had a blast playing it. I have never played this game before, so I can’t compare it to any previous versions or other iterations of the game, but I can tell my family had fun with it and I would recommend it.
This was a wonderful new game! It is quick to set up, the rules are simple and easily learned, and the play provides a lot of fun for everyone. We have played it with various combinations of adults and children and everyone enjoys it. At first, it seems so simple that you might wonder how interesting it would be. The goal is simply to lay your pieces on the board, each player starting at different corner. Your pieces must touch by the corners only, which becomes more difficult to do as the board begins to be covered and your pieces start running into the areas being used by other players. The more players, the more challenging the game becomes. Each game goes fairly quickly and we often find ourselves playing multiple rounds. This sounded fun and it was!
This is an amazing game of strategy! You play by laying down block-shaped pieces on a game board while other players try to block you. The goal is to get the most down before the board ills up. We enjoyed the strategic component quite a bit. It took a few tries to get the hang of it and then we were set. My 10 year-old never really grasped the concept and gave up even though he is pretty good with puzzles and things like that. I'm not sure this will be a part of every game night, but it will be nice to have on hand for when we need something a little different.
I’ve been trying to get Blokus XL — something we had years ago — to no avail.I really didn’t want to get the smaller size but had to since I couldn’t find the other anywhere. I’m honestly glad it worked out that way. It’s much easier to store, and it really doesn’t seem to matter losing those couple inches. It’s nice quality, too.If you’re on the fence and really like/want the game but can’t get XL, maybe the smaller size isn’t so bad after all.
