This was my first time trying any products by Maui moisture hair care. The brand offers many options for all types of hair types and concerns, to address my hair needs I chose the Maui Moisture Heal and Hydrate line. The brand offers many options for all types of hair types and concerns, to address my hair needs I chose the Maui Moisture Heal and Hydrate line. First, I started with trying the Maui Moisture Heal and Hydrate+ She Butter Shampoo. Before i go in-depth with my review I want to make note that this shampoo is Vegan, Sulfate and Silicone FREE and is infused with Shea Butter, Coconut Oil and Macadamia Oil. The scent is if any, very minimal, upon opening I wasn’t hit in the face with any overpowering artificial fragrance, nor did I find it to smell unpleasant, if anything, I experienced a faint aroma of natural botanicals. After thoroughly wetting my hair with luke-warm water, I applied a generous dollop of the shampoo to my palm and tried lathering it into my hair but noticed it just wasn’t lathering. So I went ahead and made sure the product was worked evently through all my hair the best I could then rinsed it out with Luke-warm water. Feeling as if I hadn’t washed my hair yet I decided to repeat that process for a second time and consider the first time a since the first go around didnt give me thst cleansing experience as I hope for. Upon applying the shampoo for the second time, I focused on my scalp by vigorously massaging the product in which not only promotes hair growth but feels amazing , plus I instantly noticed I had finally reached a good lather, ultimately making it easier to work the product from my scalp to the ends of my hair. Once my mini massage session was completed I rinsed the shampoo from my hair for a good 2 minutes to make sure I didn’t leave any product behind. After all product was rinsed away, I could feel a big difference in my hairs texture before I even applied any conditioner, it felt much smoother and more importantly, my hair wasn’t left a tangled mess like how other shampoos have caused! I would recommend this shampoo to anyone who suffers from either dry scalp and/or dry strands, even if you don’t normally have dry hair, this Heal and Hydrate+ Shea Butter collection is great for all hair types during the fall and winter months ! The heal and hydrate one worked well with my hair and improved the dryness. The smell isn’t too overbearing and it definitely lasted longer when I used the shampoo AND the conditioner. I’ve used cheaper and more expensive shampoos and I will say that this is a great shampoo for the price point. You don’t have to spend 50+ dollars on a good product. Maui Moisture Heal Hydrate + Shea Butter Shampoo is one of my new favorite shampoos! It is very thick and doesn't lather very easily but I'm assuming that is because of all the oils that are in it. My number one favorite about this product is the fact that it has Aloe Vera as the first ingredient instead of water that is seriously one of the best things you can do for your skin and hair especially if you're like me with sensitive skin. I also love that it is free from silicone, sulfates, parabens, and mineral oil. I felt a big difference in the way it untangled my hair it felt very gentle going through each strand. The steam from the warm water helps the masks rich nutrients to penetrate each hair strand much deeper which results in hair being smoother for a longer. After letting the mask sit for 10-15 minutes, I turned my water to a colder setting and thoroughly rinsed all product from my hair. I always rinse any treatment, mask or conditioner out my hair with cold water because when doing so, you’re closing the pores on your scalp which in turn, blocks out oils, dirt and impurities. A cold water rinse also aids in preventing breakage and frizz,After rinsing all product from my hair I noticed my hairs texture was incredibly smooth almost slimy feeling when wet and was free of any tangles, which is great if your strands are experiencing shedding. While my hair was instantly hydrated, smoother, and visibly healthier after using this hair mask, It left my hair very weighed down. But truthfully, I only do hair masks when I do a “me time/at home spa” night where I’m not going anywhere afterward so the fact it weighed my hair down wasn’t a problem for me since I was going to bed anyways. So id you have thin hair like me I wouldn’t recommend using this as a conditioner. If your hair is on the thicker side, I don’t think you will experience any weigh down from this mask. At first i'd only applied the usual amount for silicone based hair mask. Hence, the result is super disappointing. It rinse off easy and feels really hydrated when it's still wet. However, once i'd blow-dried my hair, the ends feel dry and looks a little frizzy. After trying out a few ways, I finally figured out that it works just as well as silicone based mask. In order to have that hydrated hair ends, I will have to wet my hair a little longer in warm water, squeezed it dry and apply the usual amount once before going on another round using the same amount.
