I'm in the middle of a blackout and needed an emergency generator. This thing is doing a good job, very similar to the Honda style of quiet generator. We're aware of the noise but it's not intrusive. It's very similar to the Honda 2kw in terms of fuel use, I'm topping it up around every 4 hours or so. For $500, I'm impressed with its operation.HOWEVERIn my last top up, I noticed a pool of oil under it. I took the 3 side panels off and was unable to see where the leak is. I've topped the oil off and will have to monitor over the use. I'll do a proper inspection when the blackout is over, and sus out what's gone wrong. There is no mention of the correct oil on the listing or on the package, in the info booklet states it does not ship with oil with SAE 10W30 ... MoreI'm in the middle of a blackout and needed an emergency generator. If I were Repco, I'd probably make that more obvious. I did fortunately purchase the correct oil at as a guess (click and collect only during lockdown). The booklet also recommends an earth spike, so a tent peg and some wire would be a good thing to buy if you don't have one on handIt's obviously a generic generator, with the colours and branding specified but everything else looking like a KINGS one. Not a bad thing, but worth a note.I'm anticipating a warranty repair on this (given under 20hrs before a leak occurred) but will update the review as this progresses. I'll chuck some photos up too.

I’ve been running this unit (branded Mechpro, purchased through Repco NZ) for 18 months powering a boat. It’s usage is powering a bunch of chargers powering up a house battery bank and providing a/c on my launch. I installed an hour meter when new and the unit is just about to clock 500 hours. I’ve stuck to the +/- 20 hour oil change interval and just chuck in what ever is to hand, most commonly 15/40. Just checked log and it’s had 19 oil changes. I’m pulling about 1-1.3kw out of the machine so it’s at 50-70% load. A friend purchased an identical unit at the same time as me but got greedy and was pulling 2kw and the machine locked up. All in a good unit for the money.

Starts up very easy. Noisier than expected. Would not use on caravan site. Run small wall air conditioner and 2 door fridge/freezer at the same time for 6 hours, OK until both thermostats turned on at the same time, then the gennie overloaded and had to be reset.

Power was out for maintenance for 7 hours at home. Had a large fridge connected, a TV and modem and it ran no problem on eco mode. The only time it reved up was when I turned a kettle on. Very happy with this machine.
I've been using this unit for 3 days and expect to use it for another 3 weeks during the Mount Dandenong power outage. It's really easy to set up and use. Starts easy. Easy to lift and fits in the car boot. It's quiet compared to those my neighbours are using. For a small unit it does what we expected, run two fridges, lights, tv, modem, charge points, radio. Later we will hook it up to the heat pump water heater. I'd even consider running two if necessary. My only gripe is that you must use a screw driver to remove the oil access cover. A clip on or spring closing door would be more convenient.
Seems to be working just fine. Started first pull after putting in oil and fuel and was powering the camping fridge easy as. Haven't fully tested it with some more power intensive equipment, but completely fit for purpose at the moment. It is also incredibly quiet, we barely noticed it was going.
I bought this generator about a month ago and so far Im very happy with it. I have used it twice for atleast 8hrs. I powered my large fridge, a camping fridge, a big screen tv and a pedestal fan with ease.
So far so good, had a kettle on it my 125mm grinder and grinding with it. Not once did it bog down the engine is strong and doesnt fume the place out. I had the fridge and freezer on it and it just works flawlessly. Burns almost no gass. I would like to know what the valve clearance is so it can be set when the time comes.
Great Generator for a cheap price.Starts first pull every time.Bit noisey when running hard but as quiet as a honda on eco mode. great value when on special
Bought this a week ago when we lost power in the Dandenong Ranges. Have run it for 6 to 10 hours a day each day with no problems. Easy to start, reasonably quiet and a full fuel tank lasts around 4 hours. This unit powers most of what we need - two lights, two fridges, a deep freezer, wood heater fan, computer, modem and charging multiple tablets, phones etc all at the same time. Also able to run a washing machine and microwave when other items turned off. Completed the oil change after the first 20hrs and this was an easy task. Improvements - could do with a fuel gauge.
