Medela Breastmilk Bottle 250ml with Wide Teat 3 Pack

I’m leaving a review for the 3 pack of bottles. I did find these at an amazing price that’s why I picked them up to try out. I purchased the three pack for $6.50 at a local baby/kids shop. The quality of the bottles feel just OKAY, the plastic feels like it can warp easily. All the other bottle brands I’ve used are a harder type of plastic in comparison to these. You can literally press on the bottle and it squeezes in a bit. My ultimate test was how fast the milk would pour out of the nipples and these almost come out wayyyy too fast for my daughter, I think I’ll have to try these again in a couple of months because she’s gulping the milk down too fast/ the milk is dripping out too quickly for her to drink.

From pumping, to storing to warming and feeding- this set is able to work with the pump, the lids to store it and the bottle nipped to feed. Going from pumping to feeding was amazing using these bottles. I felt like I was finally able to get some rest without feeling like I needed to switch over the bottles after pumping. Instead I threw the lid on and popped it in the fridge until we needed it for a night feed. It was amazing. I highly recommend Medela and will continue to use their products in the future.

Bottles warp when sanitize in boiling water

I hesitated buying these bottles because of the reviews on Amazon that warned about the warping when sanitizing and warming for milk. Some reviewers were in disbelief at the poor quality and suggested that maybe these bottles were not really from Medela. I have been using Medela bottles since 2016 and never had issues with warping so I was shocked today when I bought a new set to store my breastmilk and noticed they warped when I sanitized them in boiling water. As I picked them out using tongs, the tongs were reshaping the bottles! The weakest points of the bottles are at the bottom. Medela has been a brand that I trusted for years. Good, flimsy plastic though

These bottles are not bad we had this brand in the hospital. I like that it has the ml and tells you the number for scoops next to it, however often the teat gets sucked all the way in whilst my baby is drinking. I think this is because the plastic is quite thin and flimsy. I wouldn’t not buy again though. Only if I found something better!

New bottles - thin plastic warping

I just bought these bottles yesterday (6 5-oz bottles), and my husband immediately cleaned and sanitized them. He didn't inspect them prior, but when I took them out to prep for use I noticed that 2 of the bottles had thinner plastic and one even had a permanent dent in the side. The other 4 bottles seem sturdy, so hopefully they continue to hold up, but I am not impressed by the inconsistent quality. I am concerned that the thinner plastic bottles are defective and may not withstand continued sterilization or worse, pose a potential danger to my newborn. I will be avoiding use of those 2 bottles out of the 6.

Poor nipples

I got two 3 packs and I can’t use them anymore. The nipples fall out extremely easily. My twins started pulling the nipple off so now formula gets all over. I don’t want to risk them putting the nipple in their mouth (after taking it off the bottle) and choking on it. So I just wasted money on 6 bottles that’s I can’t even use. Very poor nipple design.

Screw cap pops off after being in warmer

I purchased two sets of these because I liked that they weren’t overly big. However, I make a bottle, put the screw on lid on, and place the bottle in the warmer for a few minutes. Every single time the screw cap easily pops right off after being warmed with the flick of a finger. So there’s a TON of leakage. I would have to let it cool and then screw the lid back on, which defeats the purpose in my opinion. It doesn’t do this prior to being put in the warmer. I’ve been dealing with it but the other day I warmed a bottle and when I went to feed it to my baby the whole cap and nipple popped off and went all over my baby, the couch, everywhere. That was the final straw for me. If I could attach a video of how easily the top pops off I would.

There are better bottles out there..

I thought Medela was the be all, end all for baby feeding, however, I bought a few different brands of bottles (in case my baby was picky). I quickly realized that the opening at the top is SO small, it was difficult to scoop formula in or transfer breast milk from my storage pouches. I also did love that shaking/mixing the bottle with the lid on, did not cover the hole. If I had a pre made bottle with a lid and it tipped, or I shook it to mix it, the liquid would just drip all over the lid and it was essentially wasted milk. I also didn’t use a Medela breast pump, so it really didn’t serve a purpose for me to assist with storage and feeding for breastfeeding. Unclear Description

I could not see anywhere in the description what age these bottles are suitable for. Upon receiving them, I can see that they are medium flow, unsuitable for my newborn. The description needs to have this information in it. I then bought newborn teats, which are advertised as suitable for any medela breastmilk bottles. They do not fit, as they are a standard base, not a wide base, which was also not clear in the description of the product. The size of the base and the flow of the teat needs to be clear in the description of each medela product.

Works well for the most part

My son is 2 months old and we've been using these for formula feeding after breastfeeding was unsuccessful. They have been working well for the most part. I have two complaints though. 1.) If you don't get the top on just right they leak. It might be my imagination, but it seems like the base of some of the nipples where the meet the bottle are ever so slightly smaller than others and are the ones that leak. 2.) The oz./mL marks on the side of the bottle are not accurate. I've poured 2oz bottles of liquid formula into the bottles and they do not align with the 2oz line. This means less accuracy when portioning out meals for my son.
