High quality Retinol

Very pleased once again with Medik8's Retinol. This was recommended to me by a friend who works in the industry as a great high quality product at a reasonable price point, even if somewhat more expensive than others on the market. This Retinol (and the 3TR as well) has completely changed my skin and I credit it to playing a large role in clearing up my adult acne. I found it strong enough to see a difference, but gentle enough not to cause my dehydrated skin to flare up. Highly recommend.

Lovely but...

Pros: This is an incredibly lightweight serum which has a very subtle lubricating feel to it, as if it is enveloping your skin with a very soft veil of moisture. It feels nice on my normal/dry skin and I suspect it would be nice for mature/ageing skin too. The directions are clear and easy to follow. I am now on my third week which means I can start using it every other night, after having used it twice a week for the first two weeks. It can take months for the visible results of retinol to be seen so I guess time will tell if it works. Cons: The dropper lets out an occasional drop on its own, so I have to try to use it quickly before it drops on my counter/the floor. It has a very strong floral fragrance which lingers until it is washed off. Not For Me

Really wanted to like this but I just couldn't get into a routine with it. My skin kept feeling sensitive after using it twice a week for a few weeks in a row. I even did the sandwich method. Stopped using it for a long time and now I'm pretty sure it's gone off, so that's half a bottle wasted. Given the price, I don't think I want to try it again. I'm sure other people will have better luck with it. The good news is that the Medik8 Crystal Retinol 3 has been much better for my skin.

On the fence about retinol

I started retinol 6 months ago, as perimenopausal changes to my skin seemed to speed up visible ageing. I first tried Dr Murad retinol serum and cream, and am now trying this. I like the liquid format of this one; I have had no adverse reaction to it, and had none with the Murad either. I am 45 and have pale skin but am not particularly sensitive. The truth is I have no idea whether retinol is making a difference to my skin; I find the biggest difference to my skin seems to be sleep and no alcohol, versus poor sleep and wine. That being said I haven't noticed my skin get worse, and some days it does look glowy and not bad for a 45 year old with no medical aesthetic interventions. It has not reduced the one age spot on my face.

My first Medik8 product and it won’t be my last. I’m so pleased to find this, it is practical, functions as promised, affordable and feels lovely on my 30+ combination often spotty from face masks and time of the month skin. What I like about this retinol product unlike others I have tried, is that you build up in stages. As I used retinol before but don’t have major issues with my fair skin other than the odd spot, mild pigmentation and redness. I do try 5o look after and prevent my skin from worsening in condition. I have been using this as per instructions twice a week and I see the results myself from first use. This is easy to use , clear advice/ instructions and the texture of the product feels lovely. The best retinol

I was recommended this company and product by a facial therapist and my gosh I love it. It's an expensive product but you get what you pay for with this, you can feel that it goes into your skin so much better than other cheaper retinols. Retinol is the one proven anti-ageing product so if you're going to invest in any skincare, invest in retinol!

effective & gentle

I have acne-prone, combo/sensitive skin in my early 40s: occasional pimples, fine lines, a bit of melasma, other weird stuff that happens with no rhyme or reason. I got a deluxe sample of the 3TR in a recent order and have been using this about 2-3x week since June. Let me tell you, it's soooo good. There was no reactivity with my skin on initial use. Over time, I've seen clarity and smoothness - cell turnover is working! Fine lines are seriously minimizing. I've had such a good experience with the 3TR that I'm ready to jump into the 6TR on my next order.

not bad at all

This has a very interesting texture, it is like an oil but is not too greasy. Use in the evening I would prefer to wait till it absorbs before I put any moisturiser on. I believe I can see some improvement although it's not huge but I can see something. It's slight oily texture makes it comfortable to use in winter.

New to the world of retinol and trying to find one that doesn't dry the skin. I have tried a few retinol samples from different brands and they all scared me with the intense drying effect. The only one that doesn't dry my skin is from omorovizca but it is soooo expensive. Wanting a cheaper alternative, after extensive reading I bought this. Whilst, yes oily on applicatinon and retains that, then apply moisturiser after 20 mins or so. The morning after application my skin was quite dry on waking up. I have been using it for 2 weeks and each time skin dry on waking, not as bad as other retinol samples I have tried. It is early days on efficacy, based on previous reviews I would expect it to work in long run!
