I am reviewing a Mepal Cirqula Food Storage Bowl. I have received the item without charge and I am writing this review in connection with my participation in the John Lewis Review Panel Programme.The bowl I received is the 750 ml size in the Nordic berry colour. It is of good quality with an attractive appearance with a simple but stylish and modern design. It comes in other colours and sizes.We love the Nordic berry colour and it fits well alongside other crockery on the table. We tend to use it for salad, meaning that any left over can easily be saved without shifting it into another container.We find it a very useful size. The bowl itself has an internal diameter of about 14 cms (external 15.5 cms) and a height of around 6.5cms. With the lid in place the diameter is about 16 cms and the height 7cms. I can confirm that it holds 750 ml of fluid.The bowl is a rigid good quality plastic (described as "food safe BPA - free plastic"). The bowl has shown no adverse effects after being placed in the dishwasher, microwave, or freezer. The lid is tight fitting and seems to be leakproof and airtight. The transparent lid means that whatever is stored in the bowl can be more easily identified. A small part of the lip of the lid juts out which is useful in enabling the lid to be easily lifted on and off.Although we have used it for storing food items in the refrigerator, I think it would work well for school/ work lunches, snacks on car journeys and picnics.

I bought the set. These are so easy to clean and easy to use. Beautiful blue color. Lids are easy to take off but feels tight enough to not leak. They also feel durable enough to last a long time without showing scratches and dings.

The colour is lovely : "slighty faded summer sky" blue, elegant. The bowl has a very pleasant feel, soft but not slippery, and the inside of the bowl is completely smooth and shiny so food residue doesn't stick. The lid is made of a different, partly see-through plastic, which may avoid labelling, but unfortunately it can't go in the microwave with the bowl. The lid fits on the bowl very neatly and -my favourite part- just gently lifting the tab takes the air out, no need to push down on one side whilst lifting the other side to make sure the air is out. Brilliant.The bowl behaves impeccably in the microwave oven : the food heats up but the bowl stays cool on the outside, making it easy to handle. I've found the bowl to be sturdy and hasn't leaked. The colour is pleasing. One drawback is once properly closed - even using the tab - it is hard to open. Others may see this as a really good thing though. You don't really want it to be too easily opened. However my mum said it's too hard on her hand to use regularly.
I love Mepal boxes and have bought quite a lot of them in different size. They are very easy to wash up (no nooks and crannies you often get with other boxes with bits of rubber around the seal which are hard to wash properly). They have a lovely smooth surface which are nice to eat from, the lids come off and on really easily and the clear lid is good as you can see what's in them without having to take off the lid. They also look pretty in the different colours. I use them to take my lunch to work, store leftovers in the fridge, put in the freezer as well as keeping things airtight.
I recently purchased 3 sizes of the Denim storage/mixing bowls and these are the best I have ever owned. They are well worth the price. I plan to purchase additional sizes from this collection. They are sturdy, dishwasher friendly, micro friendly and are quality. I highly recommend them to anyone considering the purchase. Love these bowls.
I have been wanting to replace my melamine bowls so ordered the 2 quart bowl. I was impressed by the sturdiness and it can certainly be used to mix any dough that requires a hand held mixer. This was great over thanksgiving for salads as well as prepping. I went back and ordered the whole set. The color states green, but it is actually a lighter blue, not sure why it states green. Very happy with them!
Received the sage version yesterday and was so impressed with the appearance I thought I will buy other items in this colour but so glad I didn't as just used it for the first time to heat up some baked beans only to find that even though it was washed up by hand soon after using it, it has stained so will now return it as it is not microwave safe as described. Stains will not come off. Very disappointed!
I purchased every size of these storage bowls with lids in denim color. I love them!! They look great. The lids fasten tightly & yet are not too difficult for my arthritic fingers to remove. In addition, they can all stack inside each other (including with their lids on!) which saves storage space. Very happy I purchased them.
