Iāve been wearing Merrell MOAB 2 8ā tactical zip composite toe for the last 3-5yrs and have loved them! However recently I went online to order a new pair and couldnāt find them. All I kept finding was the newer model Moab 3 and the listing never specified composite or regular toe. The Moab 2 could be bought in either toe form. So I decided to call Merrell customer service and actually speak to a representative and ask specifically about composite toe. The representative stated the MOAB only came in composite toe. So I place my order with him over the phone. They show up and guess what??!! They are NOT composite toešš. However, I was in a bind and needed them immediately for work and had no time to waste on shipping them back. Obviously I feel like I was lied to ...Ā MoreIāve been wearing Merrell MOAB 2 8ā tactical zip composite toe for the last 3-5yrs and have loved them! The only boots I get for many years. There is not a doubt the quality is going down. The waterproofing barely last, The stitching around the toes will give within 6 months.Put it in perspective. They will not make it a few hundred miles worth of steps. Merrell that's kinda Opposite of what you become. The only reason three stars are given is because they are comfortable, some of most comfort found in a boot style. And yeah, pair like 15 knowing they're not lasting 6 months has gotten old, I now feel like I'm wasting money and searching for a new workbook. This might be the last pair purchased.

I went through 2 of these. The first on the PLASTIC eyelet broke off just while lacing them. The second pair had a defective (plastic) zipper. Obviously poor quality (too much plastic). It is unfortunate, because they were really comfortable, and I have a hard time finding shoes that fit me right. I exchanged them first because I really liked the comfort, but I opted for a refund because I got 2 defective products in a row. (The only reason I rated 2 stars was because of the confort.) Hopefully Merrill will make something similar in the future with better quality.

Bought Sunday. Wore 10 hours Monday. Loved them! Wore 14 hours Tuesday. Got into water spray at work... like a light rain shower. Toes were wet rest of day... miserable. These are not waterproof!!! Very misleading labeling!! If I didn't live 120 miles from the Cabelas I bought them from they would be returned!! I guess they are a great sunny dry weather boot. Those of us that work outside don't have that option. Will never buy this brand again.
This is no MOAB 2, I am severely disappointed, I have only had these boots for enough time where I havenāt even put on 200 miles, the outsole is coming undone, the laces have already torn and needed replaced, and they are NOT waterproof because of the mesh. I Work as patrol and have to do 22 miles on foot in 7 hours time, which means I do not have time to mend my feet and require actual waterproof boots, I ended up getting frostbite on my toes because of Merrell using their previous track record of the legendary Moab 2, this situation has caught me at a horrible time, as I still have 40 hours of work left, so the question becomes, how bad will the frostbite get? When a company lies and deceives itās users? My previous MOAB 2 boots have well over 4,300 miles on ...Ā MoreThis is no MOAB 2, I am severely disappointed, I have only had these boots for enough time where I havenāt even put on 200 miles, the outsole is coming undone, the laces have already torn and needed replaced, and they are NOT waterproof because of the mesh. When a company lies and deceives itās users? My previous MOAB 2 boots have well over 4,300 miles on them, and the laces are still intact, and the tread has only just now come undone.Even with the legendary track record of my previous Moab 2 boots, the Moab 3 is so disappointing that I am completely done with Merrell and regret having my team select from them.
I work in a marine environment. I was looking for comfort and waterproof. These boots work for both. I had to put an insole into the boot to make it fit more snug otherwise it felt tall over my foot. The side zip feels like an after thought since it opens the boot just barely enough to squeeze my foot through. Could use a little more material there. Overall recommend for someone wanting a Tac boot that feels less like a combat boot.
I typically donāt care to write reviews so that should speak for itself. The Moab 3 boots are what I expected out of Merrell. Comfortable out of the box, takes a shine well if needed, and true to size. The vibrum sole has great traction. As a constructive critique, I would like to see them forego the side zipper and add a quick lace or BOA. I would recommend them if youāre looking for a good boot, especially if they made those changes.
Bought a pair of Moab 3's in November 2023 and after about 3 months I noticed the soles were already coming apart. I contacted Merrell and they sent me a new pair and told me to keep the faulty ones. One month after receiving a replacement pair, these are doing the same thing! I don't walk a foot beat or get into many foot chases so it's not like these are prematurely wearing out. Another buddy of mine had the zipper and eyelet break on his. Very disappointed in the lack of quality of the Moab 3's. Merrell has lost me as a customer.
Have now gone through 5 pairs of these in a little over 2 years. Have to admit the best, most comfortable boots Iāve ever bought but the quality compared to other Merrell products is horrible. Materials used breaks down quick and boots fall apart and start looking like youāve owned them and worn them for 10 years of hard abuse. Merrell customer service when I contacted them pretty much gave me the run around and blew me off. You can see horrendously bad reviews on these boots on other web sites that sell these boots. Love all my other Merrell hiking boots but because Merrellās customer service I would not ever again buy any of their products. You would think with all the bad reviews out there Merrell would step up, make improvements to these boots so they were at ...Ā MoreHave now gone through 5 pairs of these in a little over 2 years. Over a year and a half and had the tactical Moab 2 6in. Before thatā¦.plus the 2nd or third chameleons before that and the original chameleon before that. All except the 2nd pai of chameleon lasted 1.5 yrs about.I run through shoes working physically demanding jobs outside with no cover usually. Climbing, running lifting. On top of that I mountain bike, hime, run, BMX. Most of those yrs i could only afford one pair of shoes at this price too!I dont know many ppl who actually wear normal shoes out in 6 months or less.So i say all these bad reviews are unfounded and from prissy ppl who think you should be able to SWIM in these shoes and keep you feet dry and or that it only takes an hour of walking once a day for a week to break in quality boots or cant put on ...Ā MoreOver a year and a half and had the tactical Moab 2 6in.
