A great lightweight hiking boot. They feel a lot like a running shoe.I can confirm the waterproofing works 100%.Straight out of the box, the soles are a little slippery on smooth, wet surfaces. After a few hours use they "scrub in" and this is no longer an issue. My feet feel well cushioned all around. While light, the soles feel solid enough for most easy to mid trail walking. When these eventually wear out I will probably get another pair.

I bought these a couple of weeks ago and had no doubts that they would be super comfortable as are my other Merrill’s. I bought them for work. They were not as comfortable off the bat as my others, but then got worse. Discomfort and cramping on upper part of my foot and gradual lower back pain. I tried inserts but no better. It’s a shame to have spent $140 for a pair of shoes, that caused problems only to get the “to bad so sad” you wore them, they’re yours. I have Never had this issue with a pair of shoes before. I can usually tell right away if they will work or not. Shame more companies don’t follow Lands Ends lead, customer service. You’ve lost a customer.

Absolutely amazing - comfortable and supportive to wear straight out of the box with no wear in time! Lightweight, durable and waterproof. I put them to the test for the first time over a 3 day weekend of doing difficult bush walks in the Blue Mountains in extremely muddy, slippery, wet conditions with constant rain. No rain got inside the shoes. I did not even come close to slipping due to the great grip and even after submerging the shoes almost completely during a creek crossing, only a small amount of water entered my shoes and dried quickly. Worth the price.

Fun Nimble Shoes, but Ripped Fast
9 September 2021

I bought these boots in June and loved them. I took it slow breaking them in because I'm prone to heel blisters and foot cramping -- but these boots didn't really need it! They fit snug, were flexible, and were comfortable immediately. Nimble, grippy, and pretty! And, I found them sufficiently water resistent.Had I been asked last week, they'd get 5 stars hands down. But I took them on their first real hike this weekend and towards the end when re-tying the shoes (a somewhat frequent but minor occurance) I saw that the clear mesh upper had torn, leaving large hole.I'm hoping that outer layer is not the only water proof part of the shoe.I still have really old merrells kicking around, so I know this brand is usally hardy. I'm half-tempted to buy them again in ... MoreI bought these boots in June and loved them. I'm half-tempted to buy them again in the hopes it was a fluke issue, but I'm bummed at how quickly these came apart. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I thought I had a winner! If this is the standard durability of the boots, I guess I would recomend them to a friend if they were looking for a lightweight but stable shoe for gentle to moderate outside walks.

Great for work and walking the dog!
14 December 2022

I bought these to start my new job at a popular, nautical themed grocery store. I’m on my feet 7.5 hours at a time and needed something with good stability and wanted waterproof and good grip for the winter months. I love them! Wore them right out of the box to work and didn’t have any issues with “wearing them in”. They have stretched just a bit and I will probably get some gel inserts now to fill that little bit of space. I went half a size up (I’m usually between sizes anyway) and now am wondering if I should have stayed with the smaller size to allow for the stretch. I will DEFINITELY be buying more Merrells for future work shoes. I also wear them to walk my dog each day. I think they will last me a long time as there is no evidence of wear after a month of ... MoreI bought these to start my new job at a popular, nautical themed grocery store. Great shoe for hikes in all weather
22 April 2023

I bought my Merrells in April 2022 - they’re still going strong! Very waterproof - Only once did I have some slight dampness on the top of my sock only (likely due to lack of waterproofing around the laces) after hiking in extremely deep grass in the pouring rain. Otherwise trekking through mud, puddles, creeks and streams is all good. They are a bit loose in the ankle but I like that. Extremely light. Very breathable and warm - I wore them all winter with wool socks. Fit perfectly to size (I did not size up nor down). Never had a blister or any issues of “breaking them in”. Once these wear out (they’re still functioning great after a year!) I’m definitely buying another pair.

Hmmm they seem like they shrunk
.
1 April 2022

Bought these about a year ago, in 9.5 my go to Merrell size. (I wear an 8.5 shoe) I loved these hikers so much - lightweight, comfortable. But they seem like they are shrinking
. I thought maybe I just need to change sizes (but my other boots all still fit?). I use a high arch insole, but I thought I’d try the original Merrell insoles since they are thinner, and those original , but never used, insoles do not fit in the boots! They are too long and curl up the back of the heel. This makes me think the boots actually have shrunk or the soles have curved upward making them seem shorter. My toes are hitting the front with thin socks, if other shoes or my insulated hikers were feeling too small I’d think it was my feet, but they are not. Lightweight, very comfortable and supportive
16 January 2023

Bought them for work in Florida. Had them on today for the first time and they were super comfortable out of the box, supportive for my flat feet and provided with good grip on different surfaces. They let your foot breath - my feet didn't sweat like in my leather work shoes. Very happy with my purchase!Cannot say about quality - it will show with time. I hope they last me some time.

VERY Wonderful!

This is my 9th pair of Merrells – all are still in service though some are 15+ years old. I bought these wanting a back up for my PERFECT Chameleon 7’s, which are wearing and I can’t bear to think of life w/o them. When these arrived, I didn’t want to like them because they look like a tennis shoe. HOWEVER, I was unable to not love them. Let’s start w/this, my feet have peripheral neuropathy, are narrow, bony and sensitive, I have severe chronic lumbar issues and I need a LOAD of cushion in the soles of my shoes (thus all the Merrell footwear). While the sole and heel are well cushioned, when I walk, the sole flexes comfortably, though when I try to ‘bend’ the sole w/my hands, it’s actually quite stiff, which surprised me because it feels so soft when I walk. While the sole and heel are well cushioned, when I walk, the sole flexes comfortably, though when I try to ‘bend’ the sole w/my hands, it’s actually quite stiff, which surprised me because it feels so soft when I walk. I added my own insoles for extra cushioning (that most feet won’t need) and these are heavenly. I’m an avid city and park walker, not hiking over rough terrain, and these are SO COMFY! They’re surprisingly light and seem very durable at the same time. I spilled a latte on them and it wiped right off w/no marks afterwards or dampness inside the shoe. The soles are absolutely the stickiest I’ve had. I inadvertently walked over my yoga mat and it stick to them, and on the wet northwest sidewalks/pavement, they stick like crazy. When you have physical issues as I do, you have to invest in quality well made shoes. However, I don’t mind paying what a shoe is worth when they hold up for YEARS and make my feet SO HAPPY!! Gone are the days I can walk into a one stop shopping store and expect to pick up a cheap pair of shoes that I can wear. I’m very grateful Merrell makes quality, durable and best of all comfortable shoes. Thank you Merrell!!!

Very disappointed!
3 December 2022

I have owned at least five pairs of Merrells, all the same size, and have never had an issue with them. I bought these in the same size and was so excited about them however, there is an elastic part attached to the tongue that for some reason feels like a very hard plastic. It rubbed immediately on my foot when I was just trying then on which means they would rip my foot apart if I actually used them hiking or walking. Not only am I so disappointed that I have to return these and won't be able to wear them, I'm even more upset that I have to PAY $5 to return a pair of shoes that is very uncomfortable and would have hurt me greatly. After all the money I have spent with Merrell, I feel like free returns should happen, especially when it is their shoe that is ... MoreI have owned at least five pairs of Merrells, all the same size, and have never had an issue with them. I won't be ordering from their site again, this whole experience has not been favorable. Beware of the plastic elastic tongue part!
