Excellent mitre saw, being Metabo it's well made, out of the box all it needed was a little time to set it up true and square, which is a perfectly acceptable thing to do with a new tool, whatever it might be. Great value and super service from FFX. Could not be happier, thank you. I highly recommend this mitre saw for home & hobby use.

I traded down from a Dewalt 717XPS as I no longer needed the capacity and started to struggle lugging it around because of age and medical conditions. The Metabo is certainly much lighter, more portable and therefore better suited to my needs.I can only really compare it to my old DeWalt. It has pretty much the same functions, although a laser rather than XPS for lining up cuts. Tbh I always make a zero clearance insert on my saws. So lasers etc are irrelevant to me. One thing I have noticed about cheaper brand saws generally, (and it applies here too), is that the insert slots are always a rectangle with rounded corners, making it quicker and simpler to make your own insert plates than it is with expensive mitre saws.Quality wise the Metabo is, as you'd expect, ... MoreI traded down from a Dewalt 717XPS as I no longer needed the capacity and started to struggle lugging it around because of age and medical conditions. It's solid enough - just. The head assembly can be deflected 3mm either side without much effort but it'll stay on course so long as you don't yank it around while cutting. By comparison you'd have to be a gorilla to deflect the DeWalt even by 1mm.Turntable rotation on the Metabo is not terribly smooth and you definately need the saw to be fixed to something, otherwise you move the whole saw when you try and rotate the table. The table has detents at all the major angles - a good thing. The table and fence are all acceptably flat, straight and square to each other. I quite like the fact that you adjust square by moving the fence to the blade rather than the head assembly to the fence. The slide bearings are rough. At some point I'll change these for better ones. That'll be a slightly convoluted affair. The slide bars are connected to the rear housing and the motor unit with a grub screw on one side and a blind roll pin on the other but it's do-able if you know how to remove blind roll pins. One thing I prefer on the Metabo is that the blade guard release mechanism is exceptionally light and easy to operate. All in all it's a fair tool at the right price. Probably the best 216mm saw at its price point and a good chioce for a DIY'er. A rival to the bigger, more expensive DeWalts (or Makitas) it ain't tho. Tradesmen really ought to look to those.

I like this so far, I have only done some test cuts rather than working with it in earnest, but it seems good so far. The features of the sliding supports and adjustments listed all are pretty robust feeling and solid (some of the pics make them look flimsy). They have been well thought through with quick-lock features and positioned where you need them. It has a degree of soft start also which wasnt in the written spec which is a bonus as some of the cheaper saws kick in a full speed which can be unnerving. First use seems like the dust bag only collects some of the waste, see pics after 2 cuts, I'll investigate hooking up a Henry in due course. All in all, very promising and will likely speed up my projects.

First mitre saw experience, set up was easy and I made some nice cuts effortlessly. I looked at a number of mitre saws and this fitted my budget and how often I’ll use the saw.I was quite impressed with the brand and quality of the saw so much so I went on to buy a sander from the same supplier. The supplier, everything arrived in time, emails were good.I’m inclined to buy from them again.
Very impressed! Bought to replace an Einhell model that hadn't come up to expectations and now lies in pieces in the garage. This is a massive improvement. Robust, clean cut, really love the quick release wood holding system that speeds up the cutting process (safely) no end. My only gripe...the laser line shines 2mm to the left of the cutting line so you have to take that into account when making cuts.
Only used a few times so far but a great tool. Good solid build. Only frustrations; the extension on the fence can get in the way of the blade (if you forget to move it), and the clamp needs moving when putting an angle on the bevel. Otherwise faultless.
The quality is reasonable but as a mitre saw it has too many flaws to recommend. Dust continuously gathers on the rails which stops the last 1mm of the cut from being reached. The dust extraction is useless as the port is too far. There are no presets for angles other than 0 and 45.
Nicely made saw, just what I expect from Metabo. Compound action is good and smooth and the work clamp so much better than my old saw. Accurate cuts at 30 and 45 degrees as well as on 90. Like the cable tidy for storage. Laser is about 1mm out but not a big issue for me. Lots of polystyrene in the packaging which isn't great from a recycling point of view although the saw came out of the box in perfect condition.
For the money, this is excellent value and perfect for a ‘hobbiest’. The sliding capability and lazer guide make it a very versitile, easy to use and an accurate saw. A real bargain !
Bought for 122 on special. It's a Chinese saw worth maybe 150 at a push. Quality has deteriorated since going green. Horrible start verging on violent. Needed almost no setting up which is unusual. Probably last 3 - 5 years. Register product on site for free 3 years warranty. If you want more precision buy a Dewalt or Festool but for sub 150 It's the best 216mm saw on the market.
