Ive just this a few times now for a project im building. I didn't want an expensive unit as its a 1 off project. So far has done everything I need. Would be nice if it came with 2 rubber hold screws one for each side so not to swap sides over when cutting shorter pieces but that's my only issue really.

I liked the tighter stops when doing mitres but I find there is a bit of slop in the head nut allowing it to bevel off a little bit while lowering the head.My fence was really really out. It might have been the guy's first day or something, but the set screws didnt give anywhere near enough travel to properly square this. Even at the maximum, I was cutting about 1 degree off 90, not acceptable at all. I ended up using my snapped-off 5mm drill bit as a router to machine out a good 3mm of travel on the right set screw so that I can actually get this thing calibrated. The dust bag is near on useless and takes maybe 1/3 of the actual dust created. Really need a shop vac with this.I used M6 coach bolts to mount this to my bench. I skipped the tail stand.

Sturdy and seems well made. Exactly what I need for my requirements. Only slight problem was the instructions....all in pics but seemed to show components that it didn't have (different model possibly). Being a non builder kind of gal it confused me a bit.

It cuts wood. You get 1 star for that.+ 1 more star - It has decent power to make the cuts. With a replacement trim blade the cut quality is ok.The saw has a few problems1. It is inaccurate from the factory. I mean way off. The better brands put some effort to do this. Why would you buy a mitre saw in the first place??2. The fence is warped from the factory. I had to bend it straight by taking it out and hitting it with a rubber mallet and hoping it didn't crack (cast Aluminium).3. Fence adjustment couldn't be made enough to get the angles accurate. The adjustment holes don't have enough play. I had to adjust the angle pointer as well to get it there.4. The vertical bevel adjustment is rubbish. Once the metal washer/knob digs into the plastic it's impossible to make small adjustments. It's the main reason why I sold it.5. The laser is rubbish/inaccurate. You'll have to do it the old fashion way by lowering the saw when off to check cut position. The better brands cut where the laser line is.
I picked up this little saw about 2 weeks ago. It’s a good little start up unit for a DIY person. One main reason I got it is because of some positive reviews online and via YouTube ...
It is an excellent product great value for money.
This was a Christmas gift in 2021 so I don't have a receipt. Not used it very frequently and was satisfactory regarding the simple work I performed. However today while cutting 42mm x 19mm pine the blade jammed into the guard giving me a shock and bruised fingers. On this basis I wouldn't recommend it. Now awaiting Ryobi to advise how I can claim warranty.
I bought this compound saw to do a 1 off reno on our deck, after cutting a few deck planks i realized it was cutting incorrect. the 90 deg cut was coming out at about 87/88 deg, hence i wasted a few decking planks, At $40 a plank i'm out about a bit of coin and not happy, DO NOT BUY THIS SAW. it's complete garbage. I'll be taking it back on Monday for a full refund.
I gave a negative review of this product so this is an update. Firstly, the saw was a 2020 gift not 2021 as previously mentioned but still within warranty. I could not obtain a copy of the receipt from the donor. I was at the Caringbah store, asked the question about warranty and was told I needed a receipt. Fortunately the Ryobi sales rep was in store and he obliged with a replacement, after all the product label on the saw shows the week and year of manufacture. Thanks for your help Mr. rep., not so much help from Bunnings. So make sure you get a copy of the receipt for anything purchased from Bunnings because you may not be as lucky as I was. Hoping this one lasts the distance!
bought a while ago and it has never cut straight or accurately do not recommend.i have a lot of rybi tools and this so far is the only that I have totally unimpressed with
