A Solid Choice: Microsoft Surface Go LTE

I recently bought the Microsoft Surface Go LTE and I'm quite happy with it. It offers solid performance and great portability. The 8GB RAM and 128GB SSD provide smooth multitasking and ample storage. The LTE connectivity keeps me connected on the go. It's compact, lightweight, and the 10-inch display is vibrant. The device's versatility and responsive touchscreen are impressive. Battery life is decent, lasting around 6-7 hours. While not the most powerful, it's a reliable option for everyday use. I recommend the Microsoft Surface Go LTE for its performance and convenience.

The settings page showed that the Bluetooth connection was made and the Surface mouse was selected. The mouse's scanning light was clearly on but the pointer never movedFrequently the bing window itself was overlaid by the desktop window. Neither window responded when I selected the top-right X and pressed the left button or the return key: I regularly had to re-boot. Also if I made any sound, Cortana overwrote my window until I shouted "Shut up!"The Bluetooth mouse remained inactive throughout, and the pointer responded erratically to the touchpad.I still had to log in to Microsoft. I have simply not succeeded. The intrusions of the desktop, bing and Cortana have combined to totally prevent my typing in all the necessary details.Consequently I am not able to use the tablet and its accessories. I am a retired MBCS and I use a PC and a laptop every day for business and domestic work,. This tablet was intended to be a lighter substitute, for use on brief trips away from home. It is clearly not going to serve that purpose so I regard it as not fit for purpose.

But soon I discovered how to get out of mode S and then wow! - what a great little machine! I use this computer for everything. I am a software developer so I use it for programming. In addition, I am an amateur radio enthusiast and SWL and so I also use it to run various SDR radio and digital mode programs. It handles all of these tasks well. Speed is good, screen is very bright and clear, and sound is awesome. For connectivity, Microsoft made a great choice in using a single USB-C port. USB Type C is quickly becoming the standard and with good reason - the physical connectors are rugged, small, and data transfer is lightning fast. The surface go can also be charged through its USB-C port, and it can easily power accessory devices through same as well. But what I really like is the size and weight - they are so perfect! I can toss it into my backpack, bicycle bag, or just tuck it under an arm. And its very ruggedly built too. I've had many, many laptops etc over the years but none of them really worked as well for me. As of this writing, the Surface Go is now in its third generation. In my opinion, if you want a great little jack-of-all-trades Windows computer, you can't go wrong with the Surface Go.

Great compact all purpose computer
18 April 2020

The Surface Go is a great little computer. I use it for everything from online business to programming. The size is just right - fits nicely into my bicycle bag and goes everywhere with me. Battery life is good. Build quality is excellent - the metal alloy case is rugged, smooth, and has a solid feel. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass which is very tough and is scratch resistant. Mine was a bundle and came with the optional keyboard cover. I find the keyboard to be very nice with good tactile feedback, and the keys are well placed. Backlighting is a bonus for use in dim areas. But the cool thing is that you don't really need the optional surface go keyboard because this computer also has Bluetooth and so will connect to most all Bluetooth keyboards ... MoreThe Surface Go is a great little computer. Backlighting is a bonus for use in dim areas. But the cool thing is that you don't really need the optional surface go keyboard because this computer also has Bluetooth and so will connect to most all Bluetooth keyboards and other devices so you have a wide range of options. For connectivity there is a USB-C port. My devices are all standard USB and so would not connect but a simple and inexpensive adapter fixed the issue. The USB-C was a great choice by Microsoft for this tablet because it is small and more mechanically rugged than a standard USB port. Also, it can handle more electrical current which means that externally powered USB hubs are no longer needed in most cases. Out of the box, the operating system is Windows 10s. This is a limited version of Windows 10 which only lets you install software from the Microsoft store. That is a deal breaker for me and many others but fortunately there is an easy, painless way to convert to full Windows 10 professional which involves just following some simple instructions from Microsoft. To sum, I think that the Surface Go is good value for money. I'm very pleased with it and would recommend.

Lightweight with great features for my application.
10 September 2023

Good fit for the job I picked it for. The screen is smaller than I'd like for other applications but is fine for the USB control apps I'm using for ham radio purposes. I can run some pretty amazing things on it like FT8 or other digital modes. I picked it for portability and ability to provide use without needing the power grid or use car battery thereby potentially stranding me. It does operate some Microsoft mail apps and that is often useful. i'm not using it for heavy graphics such as Photoshop etc. But for ease of carrying around or going on a camping/hamming trip, it's about right!

If youre looking for this device to operate like an iPad or Galaxy tablet, it doesnt. Those tablets are basically app driven ENTIRELY but this unit only supports the apps available in the Microsoft Store. The Apps available in the store appear to be a mere fraction of the Apple or Galaxy store. At least thats what Ive found in the short period of time Ive owned it. Think of it as a scaled down version of your laptop if your laptop runs windows 10. Dont get me wrong. This unit is remarkably capable for what it is and all of your entertainment apps like Netflix, Spotify, blah, blah, are available and run well. I bought a refurbed unit and it seems to be good for at least 6 hours, which is the longest drain Ive applied in this short period of time. It isnt quite what I expected but I DO NOT regret the purchase. With the usb/c port along with a usb/c to USB adapter, it opens up a wide variety of external functionality that I didnt have with my iPad. There are definitely operational aspects of my iPad that Ill miss but most of them arent business/work related. This device cut down on the goofing off that accompanied my iPad use every timeI fired it up, with so much nonsense at my fingertips. Im still in the getting to know you stage of the relationship with my Surface Go but so far, so good.

This is perfect for those with the surface pen as it enables high pressure to be applied without damaging the stand mechanism.I have nothing bad to say about the ports. They all enable different forms of transfer and charging. If for what ever reason you need more hookups adapters and available through microsoft and 3rd parties, so no need to worry there. In terms of battery length, I would have liked it to last a bit longer throughout the day. After surfing the web, watching videos, using word and using other apps, I clocked in about 6 hours per charge. However, I don't see this to be such a big deal in this day and age considering we can now charge our devices on the fly through power banks (this device can also be charged through the type c usb).Overall I would definitely recommed this tablet to anyone who does light work e.g. reading, writing, and watching videos. This device is not appropriate for hardware extensive applications/ programs such as adobe indesign due to the smaller sized processer. It's a very fast, responsive device, capable of achieving a lot with the type cover just wish the battery was bigger. 9.5/10

Simply the best mini PC

This is simply the perfect mini PC I absolutely love the form factor its extremely light weight with surprisingly good, loud and sharp audio from such a tiny device. Its extremely fast and doesn't get very warm even under heavy load and handles most tasks with ease. WIFI performance is simply outstanding I get a full signal throughout my house and garden using my 8W WIFI amp. the SG doesn't suffer from the iffy WIFI issues such as with my SP3 which uses the Marvell AVASTAR Wireless-AC Network Controller. I had to purchase the official type cover from the other place as it was on offer and it is a true pleasure to type on you get used to the slightly smaller keys extremely quickly and having dedicated page up/page down buttons makes life much easier rather than ... MoreThis is simply the perfect mini PC I absolutely love the form factor its extremely light weight with surprisingly good, loud and sharp audio from such a tiny device. I had to purchase the official type cover from the other place as it was on offer and it is a true pleasure to type on you get used to the slightly smaller keys extremely quickly and having dedicated page up/page down buttons makes life much easier rather than having to rely on the function key. The display is one of the best I've ever come across on any PC everything is extremely vivid and extremely sharp and the screen can go extremely bright if required and the light sensor works without any issues. Now finally I can power this for hours and hours when out and about using my Tracer 12V 22AH battery using a 12V to surface cable or via my PSW inverter. I wish I'd gone for this a month earlier rather than buying a refurbed SP3. Unlike the SP3 this doesn't throttle if working with multiple programs at the same time whereas I have to reboot my SP3 every few hours to get the speed back. Don't forget to install the latest SG drivers on the Microsoft site and grab the latest SG firmware from Windows as mine shipped with the original April 2018 UEFI. One thing I hate is the UEFI firmware uses a bright background with darker lettering I prefer the old colour scheme that Microsoft used on the older Surface devices like my SP3. Because this also uses realtek SST audio it doesn't support stereo mix out of the box but its easy to record PC audio using something like VAC and Audacity. my SP3 internal audio is extremely quiet with Dolby disabled but the SG is extremely loud out of the box and with Equalizer APO and PEACE GUI installed you have fine control over the entire audio spectrum and it can go extremely loud even via the headphone jack. I can happily leave the headphones volume set to 3/4% to run my Creative SB E5 amp via aux cable. Get a type-C hub with PD support and you can easily have a game changing mobile mini PC. Like all Surface devices this uses connected standby but I prefer to disable it via the registry and enable the hidden advanced power config items to have extremely fine control over the CPU to get even better battery life. Simply grab an SG it is outstanding how Microsoft have managed to develop a fanless tablet that is so powerful.

The item I received was in great working condition. I feel really great about this purchase. It was exactly what I needed for work. The cosmetic "damage" is more like slight wear and tear.Originally when my order was delivered, the keyboard was not included. I was able to reach out to the company and they were great with communication and sent my type cover right away. The type cover looks brand new and works perfectly. This purchase was definitely worth the money.

Do not buy it if you expect it to run any games or any other super heavy workloads. It is perfect for someone else like me, who wants something ultra portable and decently fast for the price, while still being a very high quality product.

The refurbed Microsoft Surface Go is the smallest and lightest Surface device that Microsoft has ever offered. With a weight of only 522 grams and a 10" screen, it fits like a normal tablet in most pockets and can be held in the hand for a long time without any problems. At the same time, the completely renewed Surface Go offers the usual advantages of the Surface series: x86 processor with Windows operating system, meaning easy access to office programmes such as Outlook, Word and Excel. To top it off, you can turn it into a notebook with the optional Type Cover.
