I have been using this grinder for a few weeks now. As others have said, can be messy, especially with the static of courser grinds. However, after dialing in my coffee’s, I’m able to quickly single dose a bold roast espresso for myself, a decaf espresso for my wife, and later do a pour-over, all with the same machine. Make sure you have a scale or you may have trouble with espresso consistency. Overall, I’m very pleased with this simple machine and would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a versatile grinder.Oh yeah, this video is great for getting it set-up out of the box: https://youtu.be/GJuzz9NXKJY

This is the best coffee purchase I've ever made. I've owned many machines, grinders, and brew methods. None are as transformational as this--a robust, small, easy to use, single grinder for everything. My drip/press grinder is now a spice grinder and my big espresso grinder is for sale. Many of the reviews compare this to the Niche and identify tiny usability issues. But, that ignores that for a home, single dose user, the DF64 is in a different universe from the lack of quality and precision in cheaper grinders, the retention and usability issues with commercial grinders, and the gimmicky, plasticky build of Baratza or Breville. And, those issues are tiny in the first place. Button on the bottom? Sure beats the not-intended-to-be momentary giant rocker on my ... MoreThis is the best coffee purchase I've ever made. And it isn't nearly as bad in that respect as anything I've owned before. I can see how the more feature-laden consumer-y grinders (Vario?) could be better for some. But this is what I'd have drawn if you sat me down with a piece of paper years ago with the command to design the grinder of my dreams. The DF64 gets my highest recommendation. Especially if you buy an open box one like I did, somebody who hasn't figured out how much better these are will probably overpay for your current Mazzer or whatever and you might even come out ahead!

This grinder is amazing for fine grinding. The ionizer really helps with static cling of coffee to the metal body of the grinder. The grind is consistent and high quality. I immediately noticed an improvement to my espresso shots. When grinding coarser for filter coffee, the ionizer is not strong enough to remove all of the static cling from the chaff. Grinding anywhere in the filter range still results in quite a bit of chaff getting all over the grinder.

Great right out of the box, might consider upgrading burrs in the future but for now it does what I need it to. I grind for espresso, V60, Aeropress mostly and it changes between these settings and grinds equally well. Not ZERO but retention is very low as advertised; I'm not wasting a lot of coffee purging. My one complaint is that it is the MESSIEST grinder ever. Even though I spray the beans, the static is rediculous. i keep a little rechargable hand vacuum with brush behind it , but its an extra step that has nothing to do with coffee brewing and it makes me a little angry b4 1st cup. That is the only reason for minus one star. User experience is otherwise good, low noise level, relatively quick, hasnt clogged up on me yet. Great value - a lot of features for this price range.
Very happy with it so far. Build quality is solid, the workflow is straightforward, and the coffee is excellent. Nearly zero retention with use of the bellows. I do think the bellows are necessary to avoid retention, exchange, etc., but its no hassle at all to pump them a few times at the end of a (very fast) grind.I had the SSP Cast installed and aligned by MiiCoffee. I think the burrs may need a bit more seasoning to come into their own, but they were definitely tasty out of the box.I suspect the ion generator is helping, but there is still some mess, especially at coarser grind settings. (I don’t use RDT, which I suspect would help.) But it’s still loads cleaner than my Baratza Encore was, and it’s easy to keep the coffee station clean with a bit of brushing ... MoreVery happy with it so far. Excellent customer support from MiiCoffee.
Espresso use only so far. Three to 4 x faster than Rancilo Rocky as expected, which is great. About 9 seconds for a 20g triple. Flavor profiles with OEM burrs and from a Silvia Pro X tend smoother, sweeter more balanced than Rocky. Build quality and finish seem excellent. Almost zero retention. Downsides, more fines in puck tend to erode and migrate through the brewhead shower screen than with the Rocky. Puck screens are a likely cure. Grinder is generally pretty noisy, but tolerable. Anti-static electrodes in chute fouled with fines and stopped working within 2 weeks; easy fix with a vacuum cleaner and small bottle / test tube brush. So, some regular maintenance is called for. Overall, a great grinder for the price.
Very straightforward application with shockingly little retention. I haven't even spritzed my beans and the retention is, according to my scale, closer to literally "zero" than it is .1 grams. Always use from a cold start, no nuance, no tricks, no 3d printing to fix [x]...it just works. As always, longevity with daily use will tell the full story. For now however, I am very happy with this grinder. Customer service is great at miicoffee as well. I asked the owner a dumb question (in retrospect) and he was kind and quick to respond. Happy customer here!
I am about 1 week in so far and a little disappointed. Grind quality seems ok, some fines / some boulders. Probably better than my previous $100 grinder but only slightly. Where I am struggling is with static buildup around the exit chute. I've started using the Ross Droplet Technique but still have coffee grounds raining down all over my coffee workstation every morning. Mine did not come with the little attachment to angle the dosing cup up closer to the chute which I think would also help. I am guessing I would not have had this issue with a Baratza Vario (the other grinder I was considering).
This product is one of my all time favorite appliances in the whole kitchen. It is all the things you want, small footprint, intuitive interface, simple straightforward design, robust materials, and perfection in the small details. All that being said, the grind is absolutely amazing in my opinion. I had a Sette 270 for 2 years and then the electronics malfunctioned and the repairs were not practical, I never liked that machine and I'm so very happy with this product instead. I love the stepless adjustment and the 45 second timed grind is really nice in terms of just set-it and forget-it while I get the rest of my setup ready. I definitely recommend using the small doser cup to weigh your beans and then fit firmly in the holder as it creates the least stray grounds. ... MoreThis product is one of my all time favorite appliances in the whole kitchen.
